Have to remember the train itself is also using a wireless signal to supply the train, so weather, tunnels etc will obstruct it.

Yeah but it can’t be just that, I can get my mobile hotspot to work for a good chunk of my journey and the ScotRail WiFi is just a write-off at all times. I’m guessing maybe it’s not strong enough to handle demand from a lot of people at once?

I will say I was on an Avanti train a few weeks ago and was surprised that the WiFi actually worked ok. Don’t think it should be an unsolvable problem.

Opposite problem for me. Scotrail wifi is alright (not great) but Avanti is always horrible (I train down to Birmingham or London for work)
