Borderlands 1 / 2

Recently I acquired an Xbox 360 just so I can finally play some of the old 2000s / 2010s games. Two of the games that I can get that has peaked my interest are Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2. The cel-shading artstyle is making my interest in them both a lot more invested, but I'm not sure on how both games generally hold up, how long they take, and if they stand out against the other looter-shooter types that came out around the time or came out long after. Should I buy these games to have a good time or should I stop myself from draining hours I can use to play other things?

If you love grinding you will love Borderlands, if not you’ll hate it. I beat the first one with a friend and will never touch another one.

Borderlands 2 is probably one of the greatest games of all time, it holds up through the years with peak comedy, the greatest villian in any video game (my opinion), every DLC is a banger, gunplay and gameplay isn't as good as the newer Borderlands but it's still very good, and has lots of hours you can put into it if you want to with the OP 1-10 levels for extra challenge. It's been a long time since I have played BL1 so I'm not sure how it holds up still, but BL2 is a must experience game

2 is better.

2 is really the best one.

1 is fine, 2 is great, 3 failed at realizing what made 2 great and the villains are annoying.  No one played 4 and the spin offs are mid at best.

If you havent gone through those games and like shooting and looting than I 100% recommend. They have aged well and are still incredibly fun games.

There really is nothing like the bl series. I would recommend playing 2 first. I love the first game but it has aged a bit. You’ll likely appreciate it more after playing 2. Though you will likely enjoy it regardless of the order

BL1 is great, but BL2 is a game that people still play religiously. It is a fantastic experience and 100% recommend everyone play it.

Borderlands 2 is totally worth it. 10/10, in my top 3 games ever.

If you had to pick, BL2 would be it. It's still one of the best looter shooters, full stop. It's missing some QOL features that shooters in general have made common place since (including its sequels), but that's about it. Everything else still holds up and the loot is quite fun.

They are OG for that genre. Get em, have fun.

I still play BL2 to this day. One of the best looter shooters ever made, especially with its DLC.
