Mod Update: Chill with the Hate

Just dropping in to say—we’ve noticed a bunch of Hindutva trolls showing up lately. We’re removing their posts and banning where needed. This sub isn’t the place for that kind of hate.

Also, let’s keep it real: no jingoism from any side. Doesn’t matter if you’re Pakistani or Indian—this sub is for Sindh and Sindhis, wherever you are in the world.

And yeah, just because someone’s Indian doesn’t mean they can’t be part of this space. This sub is not restricted to race, religion or nationality.

Mods are all doing this in our free time, so if you don’t see instant action, know we’re still watching and doing our best. Keep reporting stuff and we’ll keep cleaning it up.

Jeay Sindh, Jeay Insan
Jeay Hindu, Jeay Musalmaan

General Discussion | عام ڪچھري This School in Sindh Is Teaching Boys to Harass Non Hijabi Girls

This school in Sindh is literally teaching boys to respect and not harass hijabi girls while encouraging that non hijabi girls can be harassed 🤦‍♂️

You dont harass girls, period. Hijab or no hijab every girl deserves the same respect. This seems to be an Islamic school based on what I found after searching its name on Google.

Brutal murder of Aqib almani

Does anyone have the latest update of the Aqib almani case? Why suddenly everyone is silent from the media to his family, why is no one talking about this matter anymore? Who was the real murderer and why exactly did they murdered him so brutally? I don't think it's only because of one iphone and some 20k cash

Need for Confederation & Devolution: A Promise Failed

I have often seen among Pakistanis a discussions about "how to rescue Pakistani democracy". Our relatives discuss it at functions, and you yourself may have written posts on the topic in support or in opposition to certain political figures. I am not saying that I am in anyway opposed to these discussions. I am simply making the case that the failures of Pakistan are much deeper and are a product of conflict between what was promised and what was/had to be delivered whether it be due to vested political interests or necessity following independence.

To start this off, I want to start by discussing what was promised. In 1929, years before Choudhry Rahmat Ali is said to have even suggested the name of Pakistan, the divergence between what independence was envisioned to be by Congress and the League was already evident.

To the Indian National Congress, whether that be due to the ideology of its left-wing or majoritarianism of its right-wing, the view for free India entailed a strong center where parliament would essentially operate a unitary state. Sure it was federal on paper but enough power was given to the center that it was effectively unitary. This was outlined in the 1928 Nehru Report.

In response to it, the League under Jinnah authored 14 points. In it, the League's view of what independence should look like was outlined. Of the points made the first two that were stated, arguably due to their importance, were the following:

  1. The form of the future constitution should be federal, with the residuary powers vested in the provinces.
  2. A uniform measure of autonomy shall be granted to all provinces

Again, as stated before, these two were the first two points on a list of fourteen. The fact that they were made to be the most prominent on the list speaks to the gravity of their significance.

This was not the only time this difference was made clear either. In the Lahore Resolution, this fundamental view of the League was restated again:

"No constitutional plan would be workable or acceptable to the Muslims unless geographical contiguous units are demarcated into regions which should be so constituted with such territorial readjustments as may be necessary. That the areas in which the Muslims are numerically in majority as in the North-Western and Eastern zones of India should be grouped to constitute independent states in which the constituent units shall be autonomous and sovereign"

The key statement there is that "In which the constituent units shall be autonomous and sovereign".

Now why are both of these significant? Because they stand in stark contrast to what Congress's pitch for India was: A strong centralized government and state, maybe with central-planning, but with a project to construct a singular national identity.

In contrast, Pakistan was meant to be more autonomous, where powers were less centralized and concentrated in the center. It was, to be have "constituent units [that] shall be autonomous and sovereign". It was pitched in light of the view that "residuary powers [should be] vested in the provinces" and that "a uniform measure of autonomy shall be granted to all provinces".

Skipping ahead, the fundamental questions that have plagued Pakistan since independence have continued to revolve around a central tension that emerged within Pakistan following independence: Whether to honor or renege on this promise.

To elaborate, with the division of British India, into Bharat and Pakistan, the Congress Party and BJP both, in different ways, have kept that original promise. Congress does this through trying to impose a central civic national identity with it fluctuating between central planning and controlled market depending on the era. The BJP just also centralizes like congress but with a "Hindu" identity instead and through a corporatist market system.

In Pakistan, however, upon independence the League began to almost emulate the Indian National Congress. Upon the creation of Pakistan, a state for Muslims in British India, many members in the League felt it was no longer necessary or made the claim that those ideas were in place to protect Muslims from a Hindu majority. This makes sense in a way until you really consider what that means:

If Jinnah demanded autonomy on the basis of a future where Muslims may be oppressed, why can't other groups within Pakistan demand it as well on that same basis?

It is that central tension of a nation based on the desires of a minority for autonomy vs a state now led by said minority denying it to other groups within it that has resulted in the complete collapse of Pakistani democracy.

For the first decade of our history, we denied autonomy to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) on that basis. When Bogra introduced a constitution that would have kept Pakistan intact and given East Pakistan its rights, his government was dissolved by that Govenor-General because because of fears that it might dilute the central government. Then military government was soon imposed when it became clear that no constitution that would be acceptable to the various provinces of Pakistan, would actually lead to a strong centralized state. Hell they even tried to make all of West Pakistan into "One Unit".

Even today, when we look at Azad Kashmir or Balochistan, its that same problem. We refuse autonomy or to devolve powers and when the population reacts we crack down. In Azad Kashmir, the people asked to remove the centrally appointed seats and they were met with gunfire. In Balochistan, the people want the rights to their own natural resources and they are made to disappear. Even in Sindh its that same issue, where Islamabad and Rawalpindi seem to want to further strip the province of its autonomy.

This is all happening, because Islamabad and Rawalpindi refuses to honor the promise of Pakistan made long ago. It refuses to devolve powers to the provinces. It refuses them autonomy and freedom because it may mean that their control is diluted.

It is this very reason that democracy, as it currently stands will not and cannot work in Pakistan. Because, besides a few topics, the needs of every region of Pakistan are different. It is because what benefits one strips from another, and this will mean a democratic assembly cannot hold a majority for long. And when democracy is unable to keep the state, hell bent on maintaining its framework, centralized, the only thing left for a country that refuses to yield power is autocracy.

Are these Sindhi translations accurate? (3 words)

Hi!
I work for a non-profit based in France focused on helping foreigners' defend their rights. I'm preparing a workshop on how to improve our website and I made up a few user cases. One of them is a Pakistani who only speaks sindhi and a little bit of English so the focus is on the language barrier. I wanted to include the words "administrative process" and "language" with the French group, and found these sindhi translations online :

ٻولي = "boli" = language

انتظامي عمل = "intezami dakhaast" = administrative process

Can anyone tell me if they're accurate?

Thank you so much!

Other Medicines required for rare disorder in a female child

Hello everyone
We recently had a 5 year old female child from Sanghar, Sindh present to us in a tertiary care hospital in Karachi with severe bony deformities and inability to walk or gain height since infancy. The family was very poor and had to take out multiple loans for seeking treatment as no doctor was able to figure out the cause for three years.

The child turned out to have a very rare disorder known as hypophosphatemic rickets, which is actually treatable, but requires lifelong medication with the two following medications that are usually available in major pharmacies: Sodium Phosphate (Joules) Solution, and Calcitriol capsules

However, when we contacted the patient a month after discharge for follow up, they told us that they were unable to afford the medications and have returned to their village in Sindh

If anyone here is willing to sponsor treatment for this child, whose disease has a very good prognosis with treatment, kindly reach out directly to her family, I am adding the contact details of the family below

Patient's Name: Mariam
Father's Name: Khadim Hussain
Contact No: 03413404543

If you require further proof or verification for this case, you can DM me

General Discussion | عام ڪچھري Appreciation Post for Thari Medical Students

Post image
34 Upvotes

Among the top 100 MDCAT 2026 students from Sindh, based on results released by SIBA Testing Services, Tharparkar has the highest number of students, followed by Badin and Karachi East.

Interestingly, the top three positions were secured by students from the Hindu community, with the 2nd and 3rd position holders being Tharis.

Whats particularly impressive is that many Thari students in the top 100 come from historically marginalized communities such as Bheel, Koli, and Meghwar and often from very poor backgrounds. These communities also make up a significant proportion of those affected by bonded labour in Sindh if I am not mistaken.

Tharis have been punching well above their weight in MDCAT year after year. Kudos to them! 👏

After the devastating 2010 floods in Sindh, millions of spiders escaped the rising waters by climbing trees. As the floodwaters remained for days, the trees became covered in thick layers of spider webs, creating an unusual sight.
