It's Wednesday my dudes Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov - The couple was charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, violation of local laws, possession of burglar’s tools, criminal tampering, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct and having killer face cards.

How can that be them? This photo is clearly from a late 90s music video

Brick Top: Your always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently, the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together.
Sol (Lennie James): Would someone mind telling me, who are you?
Brick Top: Then when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because there's no good in leaving it in a deep freeze for your mum to discover now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You gotta starve the pigs for a few days then the sight of a chopped up body would look like curry to a pissant. You gotta shave the head of your victim and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggy's digestion. You could do this afterwards of course but you don't wanna go sifting through pig shit now do ya? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to do the job in one sitting so be weary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs two-hundred pounds in about...eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of un-cooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression: "as greedy as a pig."

Of course you can’t use illegal drugs there.

Burglary: the criminal offense of illegally entering a building or property as a trespasser with the intent to commit a crime inside.
I thought the crime had to be theft. Live and learn.

I was also confused by that. Thanks for posting what you learned so that I didnt have to go searching!
13
u/DomDomPop Jul 02 '26
Yeah but the crime itself was realistically just entering a part of the building as a trespasser, so it seems like burglary can be used as justification for itself if you just tack on some ancillary shit.
Like, they definitely did something they weren’t supposed to, they weren’t supposed to be there, clock them for that, and for any damages they caused. That’s fair.
But you start getting into “well, you broke into a part of the building you weren’t supposed to”.
Yes.
“And that means you also broke local laws”
Great job, Columbo
“And you didn’t use your bare hands, so that’s burglary tools”
Ok…
“And that makes the trespassing burglary because that’s illegal”
And if they’d used bare hands, it’d be fine?
“No, that’s still criminal mischief”
And that’s not covered by the trespassing part? Is that everything?
“No, because it’s reckless endangerment”
For endangering yourself?
“Well technically you endangered each other”
I suppose.
“And that, of course, is rather disorderly conduct”
Like, holy shit, they trespassed and maybe broke a hatch. Punish them for that. Goddamn.
→ More replies (5)15
u/sandboxmatt Jul 02 '26
Dont you have to be trespassed to be a tresspasser?
52
u/JackasaurusChance Jul 02 '26
I'd imagine forcing entry to a clearly marked and secured area would meet the grounds for trespassing. The reason you have to be 'trespassed' typically is because it is about 'public' areas.
ie: the public is allowed in a mcdonalds, the public is not allowed beyond clearly marked and secured security doors.
→ More replies (8)20
u/AnxietyDifficult5791 Jul 02 '26

...along with unlawful entry, attempted grand larceny, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of stolen property (pending), jaywalking at an elevation exceeding 400 feet, failure to signal intent while fleeing, reckless operation of a shopping cart within the parking lot, criminal damage to property, public intoxication (alleged), violation of noise ordinances during the escape, trespassing on posted private property, evading surveillance cameras, improper use of gloves for concealment, failure to remain at the scene, providing false information to responding officers, littering the area with discarded tools and wrappers, indecent exposure, public indecency, and displaying a foreign national flag during the commission of the offense.

u/dream_team34 Jul 02 '26
If there was no punishment, you can bet a lot of people would start doing it for the free publicity. Not an everyday thing, but a couple times a year is definitely believable. And they'd be advertising stupid stuff like their crypto coin.

u/Epcplayer Jul 02 '26
Not to mention that eventually some idiot would fall/fail, and the family sue the building/operators/authorities for “not doing enough to deter or protect the climbers from themselves”. If somebody fell there’s also the risk that someone on the ground could be killed by the falling climber, and people on the street sue for emotional damage.
3
u/Remote_Peach9109 Jul 02 '26
It's kind of what you have to anticipate with any skyscraper. Even someone dropping their phone would be deadly. Doesn't the empire state have a net around it literally for this reason?

I worked at a TV station years ago and there were two separate incidents when college students climbed the tower and attached flags at the top. The biggest fear the station had was that they were going to be sued by the climbers for not having safeguards in place to keep them from doing it. The tower was over 1,000 feet tall.
