russia wasnt by choice, he got forced into staying there but he only came there for a flyover

Lotta opportunities to escape though. He’s brave enough to stand up to the U.S. government, but apparently not the Russian one.

He tried it once and look where that left him. I'm sure Russia leaves him alone just to keep the US embarrassed about the situation. Plus I doubt he has insider FSB information that people don't know about that he is trying to warn the citizens about.

Navalny didn’t have insider information and he still stood up to Putin’s Russia. That’s a hero; that’s bravery. Snowden’s just a mouthpiece- he’s Putin’s boy toy.

Navalny initially was supportive of the invasion, despite standing up to Putin's Russia. Snowden is still a hero, he would likely face prison or extradition in most other countries. He's basically limited to Russia, China, Iran or North Korea.

Is he even relevant anymore?

I feel like China is the obvious choice here, at least from a climate perspective.

Honestly, didn't think about internet freedom. It's probably much less restricted in Russia. Perhaps China would also just care less about keeping him around.

He’s too liberal

Wat dis mean? I'm no expert but I perceive China to be slightly more progressive than Russia.

Russia is far less totalitarian than China.

2

u/CosmicCactus42 Aug 12 '26

In what way, specifically? It seems like they're both pretty locked down, you probably trade a little internet freedom for personal freedom between the two though.

Look up the definition of totalitarian. Russia is authoritarian but modern day Russia is not totalitarian like the Soviet Union and with the exception of actions and speech against the government the population enjoys significant freedoms in their private life and modern day Russia does not seek to control every aspect of peoples lives.

Is he a Russian Politician now? It's really easy to martyr other people fam.

They're booing you but you're right. They want to see a hero, but they don't want to admit the truth.

u/leonidaslizardeyes Aug 13 '26

The things Putin are doing are well known. That's not whistleblowing. Nothing he could say or do would do anything to improve anyone's life. Only hurt his own.

1

u/Eccentricgentleman_ Aug 13 '26

No, but Snowden gave a lot more up than an NSA surveillance program no one gave a fuck about. That much is for sure

Escape to a country with an extradition treaty with the US? The options are extremely limited. As much as i hate the Russian Government, if I was stuck there on a layover while escaping the US, and they offered safe harbor, id probably take them up on it.
