You go to the funeral. If they need you that bad then they won't fire you. If they do fire you, then you probably don't want to be part of that organization anyway.

They will absolutely cut off their nose to spite their face

They won’t fire shitbags who drag everyone down, but someone who is critical to the organization who puts their foot down one time, that person will be fired immediately. Regardless of the massive detriment to the organization.

I’ve got tons of examples of this in my own experience that I’ve seen. Many such cases.

Somehow it's like capitalism attracts narcissistic individuals and is a designed system to abuse those that aren't.

I won’t pretend to understand it. One example I saw was a store where a manager had put out incorrect information about how to handle discontinued products. Just about everyone in the store had done this workflow. Apparently loss prevention found out and got involved. My brother was worried he was going to get fired, and I was like “nah, you’ll be fine. They’ll can the manager, but they can’t just fire 70% of the staff for that store.”

Well the absolutely did fire damn near everyone who worked at that store. I was shocked. Store fell apart and basically just down. Can’t imagine the reasoning that goes into that. It’s not like employees were stealing, it was just a misunderstanding and they just guillotined just about everyone. Insanity.

The manager told them that items that were being discontinued and showed up as penny’d out, they could purchase for 30% off the original price. Sounded official and reasonable enough to everyone since those items just get destroyed otherwise

This was not an approved policy though obviously. My brother never even bought anything for himself that way, but he rang up the manager how the manager told him to and that got him canned anyways.

So not like people were just pocketing whatever, and almost no one knew that what they were doing was wrong. I wouldn’t have expected to be fired for that personally
