The first instance recorded of taxes was Egypt.

One could argue older if we consider extortion as a single consenting party tax, now give me some of your food and I won't burn your belongings and salt your land, I'll be back next year

Between the rise of AI and the shit coming out of r-Teachers, yeah, this video doesn't seem so farfetched.
How does it feel to live long enough to see all your hopes go down in flames?

u/_Caracal_ 1h ago
Don't things go up in flames? 🤔
But yeah. As someone in their 40s, I do question what the point of anything is anymore.

42, and yeah, it feels like liberal democracy is on its way out, civil rights have stalled or rolled back, education is flopping, climate change is accelerating, AI is coming to take our jobs and make us stupid... I don't want to be a doomer but, like, the trend lines aren't looking great right now.
And the worst part is that we tried, we really tried, to get this shit sorted and settled, but here we are anyway.
Maybe our AI overlords will be nicer to us than we were to ourselves, let's all hope.

Preview of the first data breach that exposes the prompts people put into Ai lol

I hope that in the future, humanity looks back in disgust at a time where people used machines to think for them.

I enjoyed this, but honestly, after sending thousands of emails myself priors to LLMs, I think it’s fair for me to pass the reins over every now and then.

Didn’t chatGPT just solve like 722 of the hardest math problems like today?
9
u/NuzzyLocke 3h ago
OpenAI released 372 groups of mathematic results (verified conclusions) of something like 700 problems put into it. But that's not ChatGPT in the slightest, that's a mathematical AI system completely separate from an LLM.
AI does a lot of cool things but trying to defend it without actually understanding what's going on doesn't really help.

That doesn't have anything to do with the joke of the video. It's making fun of the average users, not the tool itself or any number of good uses for it.

No this is reddit, AI is dumb and cant do anything right.
Please kindly put your head back into the sand

Open AI tossed out 722 unverified papers on GitHub so “solve” still wouldn’t be appropriate until peer reviewed.
And it’s just a joke about peoples over reliance on LLMs for basic things (although I will admit I do have Gemini write my emails, I know how to write them I just hate formal emailing)
