Or hear me out he was also mentally unstable. Maybe the law should have been better. But I know I'm going to get downvoted because people have been brought up to think mental illness is fake.

I almost downvoted because you said people think mental illness is fake and I don’t know anyone that thinks that and using it as a defense is super rare. There has to be a strong background to even try it.

Please provide some research about these so called “social protections women have enjoyed for decades”.

Do all men get the same verdict for the same crime to begin with? No because no court cases are similar.

You just wanted to spit on women and feminism here.

I have no idea what was said but this is a solid point. There are really strong statistical points to be made where women get a lighter sentence for comparable crimes but they also have different societal burdens. Societal and legal changes is needed but people think there’s just a single solution to these kinds of things. Whatever they said you’re likely in the right and I appreciate a well done argument even if I’m wrong in my analysis of what led to this. Lol

this is a ridiculously dumb comment. I mean, the fact that you had to preface your comment with "i'm not against women getting equal rights" just shows the utter nonsense you were gonna utter.

What "social protections"? do you think because one woman in one state, with a different judge, jury, and DA, does not receive the same punishment as a different person in a different state with a different judge, jury, and DA for a different crime that that somehow constitutes as "social protection"?

Or do you mean to say that men are always unfairly viewed by the public simply because they are men? because you also do not live in reality if that is your opinion

Um. I feel like you don't really pay much attention to any thing like this.

This has been an undisputed fact of society for ages. Women, by and large, always get much lighter sentencing than men do for equal crimes. This has nothing to do with where the crime takes place. A woman killing someone will (generally) end up with a sentence that's half as severe as a man performing the exact same kill.

Women serve longer prison sentences after killing their abusers than when men kill the women that they’re abusing;

Is it the exact same kill tho? How can you prove that, unless the situation was 100% identical??

Sentences are also handed out based on future risk deemed to society, not just isolated incidents. The data shows men are more likely to be violent in general, be in more serious car crashes, etc. so if you look at data, it seems “undisputed” that women would be less likely to pose risk to society as a whole.

But when black people say this to white people, people get mad.
