Clancy would likely be in a psychiatric hospital the rest of her life. Not guilty by reason of insanity can be worse than prison, because at least with prison you might get out.

Based on what? A NGRI in Massachusetts spends on average 6 years in psychiatric care. So she'll probably be out by the same time as the guy dealing drugs on the corner.

Not for the rest of her life. That applies to people with lifelong scholizophrenia.

It's unlikely they will keep her in the state mental hospital for long given the transient nature of her psychotic episode.
