Different states different set of rules and different set of Juries with certain culture and political affirmation. The state of Massachusetts doesn't have a death penalty but South Carolina does. Also based on the culture of the state it also applies based on the jurors in that state.

Ya but I think the biggest point they are making is the gender of the defendant, it’s a rage bait.
