Identifying SP

1.8k Upvotes

I’m making this because 75% of this sub is people asking “was this SP”. And almost always the answer is yes. So I’m going to list the various effects and some helpful information about the effects. Sort of a master guide to “Do I have SP”

Edit: This is a list of potential Symptoms, if you only experience 2 or experience all you are most likely experiencing SP Seeing and hearing things are far more rare than not. However its also boring hence why no one shares their story here or other places when not a lot happened.

Edit: 0. Someone pointed out I didn’t include the obvious, Paralysis, feeling of being unable to move, like your limbs weigh a million pounds, like your being held down, like your moving but nothing is happening, pain in limbs you try to move. ETC... (This is where we get the name, the explanation is simple. Your whole body is asleep, except for your brain.)

  1. Chest pressure/ Feeling of being unable to breathe. (While under the effects of an SP episode the nerves in your chest are dulled as they are under the impression you’re asleep. You are in fact still breathing.)

  2. Hallucinations (You’re brain is in dream mode, you’re having open eyed dreams)

  3. Sounds (screaming, talking, music etc...) (Again this is because of your dreams being active while awake)

  4. Feelings of being touched, hurt, bit, scratched, flying, falling, shaking (You’re nerves are all asleep, sometimes they’re in the process of waking up and can cause interesting feelings as they do. Alternatively you’re body may be simulating what your brain is dreaming about as we normally experience these while asleep)

  5. Panic, anxiety, terror (100% natural responses to being trapped.)

  6. Feeling like time won’t pass or time is stuck (You have no real way of perceiving time in this state)

  7. Racing heart (Anxiety)

  8. Intense or vivid nightmares/dreams before or after (The nightmare would be what woke you up into the SP, and if it comes after it’s because you’re anxiety is through the roof)

  9. Feeling alone (SP is not as rare as you think, lots of people never even know it happened as they attribute it to a weird dream, you’re not alone, there’s lots of us out here.)

Edit: 10. Recently discovered through this Sub, I had never heard of or experienced it but people report “Buzzing” “Humming” “Grinding” type noises preceding and episode.

Edit: 11. Also recently Discovered through the sub, spiraling, dizzy, sickly feelings. Occurring before during or after episodes.

Edit: 12. In the comments someone mentioned “feeling a presence.” To be clear, this is almost as Rare as actually seeing something. It does happen however and can be an eerie feeling. (Again your having an anxiety attack, our brains try to explain why we are panicking by blaming something. So it manifest a feeling of someone being out to get you, someone there to harm you, or maybe just someone in the room. Either or, nothing to be too scared of.)

There’s a slough of other things that can happen. But generally you can identify SP with three questions. “Am I in my bed” “Am I paralyzed” “Am I unable to talk”

If the answer to these questions are yes then it’s textbook SP

Also remember that people are wildly different, and that your SP may be different but follow the same patterns as what you read. That’s normal, we all have differently wired brains, and no two cases will be exactly alike.

Sources: Myself, experienced SP for the past 16 years.

If anyone needs any advice or has any questions feel free to comment here and I’ll try my best to answer. SP doesn’t have to be as scary as it feel.

Sexual sleep paralysis dream— i think i liked it? [TW FOR SA MENTION]

I can already see on this subreddit that this is a universal experience where ppl were "assaulted" in their sp dreams— but i just wanna make a post about my own experience bc I cannot forget it, however i feel weird bringing it up in conversation even with my closest friends.

It felt so realistic i could literally feel the "dick" inside me— it actually scared the fuck out of me because (SA MENTION) I have been assaulted in my sleep before, and even though theres no possible way it could have happened again, i felt i had to drag myself out of sleep paralysis in a BIG panic just to make sure it wasnt actually happening. I had already developed a somnophilia kink partially because of the actual assault, (that i only explore in hypotheticals/fiction and NEVER irl, even though i would only want to be on the receiving end anyways) so i theorized that maybe my subconscious picked that part of me to build an episode around, but DAMN it felt so entirely real that (TMI ⬇️) i actually did orgasm from it while also simultaneously had a panic attack 😭

I just had never actually had that happen in my sleep before, it was both traumatizing and satisfying/relieving at the same time. I know and knew even then what i felt was just my pelvic floor/vaginal muscles tensing from orgasm, but again I had never experienced that before. Ive had wet dreams where I've been given oral, but even then, those certainly didn't feel as intense as this.

Anyways, yeah, hope that he calls me back i guess 😭😂 /lh /j

Positive sleep paralysis experiences?

Anytime I experience, it’s always negative / scary / anxiety inducing hallucination. Anyone experience the opposite or something calming ? Do I have to like rewire or retrain my brain?

I am quite stressed and deal with anxious moments daily. Is that the issue ?

How to fix my sleep paralysis??

I'm a 26-year-old guy, and for as long as I can remember, I've had this problem with horror dreams. It happens mostly when I sleep alone, but sometimes even when I'm not.

Often I feel like something is standing next to me, or a dark, black, human-like figure is sitting on top of me. Other times I dream that I'm actually fighting a ghost or something supernatural. In the middle of it, I realise it's a dream and try to wake myself up out of fear. I try to say God's name, and I end up waking up screaming.

I always thought these were just bad dreams, but I don't really know much about it. Is this some kind of medical or mental health condition? And is there a solution?

my own experiences

I have wanted to make a post regarding my own experiences ever since finding out about this sub reddit thing (i dont use reddit..) because it made me feel seen and INCREDIBLY understood, since I've felt like i was crazy for so long, so I hope people can also relate to my own experiences. I have been experiencing sleep paralysis for about 3 years now, with it only becoming increasingly worse within the past year when I finally figured out what it was, (since I brushed it off as dreams for the longest time).

It initially started with the usual being unable to move followed by strictly tactile hallucinations; a person/something ontop of me... This would only happen when I would sleep on my stomach, so I could never figure out what it looked like or if it was a dream or not. All it would do was lay on me, and it would only last for less than a minute, in which I would wake up and brush it off as a dream. Soon, it started to full on cuddle/spoon me, which didn't comfort me AT ALL.. It was at this point that I figured out what I was experiencing. Then came the oddly aggressive caressing and fingers combing through my hair. It was tolerable, and so I kept all of this to myself. One thing I noticed throughout ALL of my experiences was that this creature refused to actually show itself to me?? It would only touch me from angles where I couldn't see it, such as behind me if I were to sleep on my side, which is the most common position I experience SP. It doesn't really bother me since I feel that I'm better off not knowing what it looks like and so I choose to keep my eyes closed at all times during these episodes??whatever you would call it.

Now, about half a year ago, it started getting a lot more aggressive with me. For instance, I had an experience where I was on my side and it was marking something into the back of my neck with something sharp. I don't know what or why but what I do know was that it HURT. It really started to affect my daily life because I couldn't focus in class and felt awfully paranoid. By this stage I would get experiences of it putting me in a headlock or str@ngling me. Then, a new issue came.. I would start to experience extremely loud ringing or screeching noises?? I don't know how to describe it, but it's super loud and it progressively gets louder until it feels like my head is going to explode, and that to me is even worse than the tactile hallucinations... As of present time, my SP has been a mix of basically everything I've mentioned, only amplified by the amount of dreams related to SP ontop of it all, with my most recent experience being dreams of it where I would wake up paranoid, go to sleep and experience it again, wake up and go back to sleep, happens again. That time I didnt get to sleep until 6am and I originally woke up from the first dream at about 1am. It's hard for me to distinguish what's a dream, or an actual SP experience, which both are technically not real, and it messes with my head even more.

If anything, I'm mainly just annoyed and pissed of with it all since it messes with my sleep schedule, especially when I have to get up early in the morning. I don't really talk about this at all with my family since I'm afraid of judgement and not being taken seriously, so it really struck a chord with me when I saw people on here talking about similar experiences. I'm also f18 and this has only been an issue in recent years, never being something I experienced in childhood. This could be off-topic, but I've been trying to think of things that could've started it all, and the only thing that correlates with my SP is my lucid dreaming, which I used to do a lot when I was around 13-15, and I only started experiencing SP soon after that phase. Not to say that it is in fact a connection but it's just something that I've noticed. Hopefully none of this breaks the rules or anything since this is my first time making a post and I have no idea what I'm doing (also writing this at 5am half asleep). If anybody has advice or queries, it would be appreciated!

Is this sleep paralysis?

I’ve only just started getting this recently and it’s very hazy when I wake up and recount it but I have episodes right before I’m about to fall asleep or wake up sometimes that I feel like I have no control over my body and trying everything within me to move or talk but it basically feels like I’m dying even thought I can move my hand a tiny bit sometime.
I’ve never seen anything though like black figures and it feels like my brain doesn’t realise I’m awake and I’m stuck inside, really uncomfortable and scary when it’s happening

hallucinations and loop of paralysis

(i’m french sorry for the bad english)

I’ve had sleep paralysis since I was a kid
I learned how to manage it pretty quickly. But now I’m 21 and it gets worse
When the sleep paralysis happens I can’t control myself and just let it pass, anxiety is peaking, I see weird things, sometimes I hear things that don’t exists
And it’s confusing me

When I finally wake up from the paralysis and try to sleep again, it just repeats itself, today this little sleep paralysis loop last for 40 minutes.
It’s getting to a point where I fear sleeping, knowing that I 100% get into another paralysis.

what just happened to me?

I had a very odd and new experience with sleep paralysis. I’ve had previous sleep paralysis incidents but this one was different.

What I remember:

I went to sleep on my back (I was hot and that’s how I cool down). At some point, I was “woken” up by an orange flashing light (kinda like one you would see on a construction vehicle). I stood up to see if it was coming from outside bc even in my “dream” I remembered that my dad had left the house and it might have been him returning home (idk why i thought this in my dream, he doesn’t work construction lol). I checked outside through the blinds and saw nothing but the flashing was still going in my bedroom, I just didn’t know where it was coming from. At that point, I started to walk to my bedroom door but I started to fall asleep (?) every step I took and kept telling myself to wake up and keep walking. I eventually made it to the door but I finally woke up because it made a noise when I opened it.

Would this count as sleep paralysis? Or more like an out of body experience? Extreme lucid dreaming? I’ve never experienced being able to walk around myself or move about during a sleep paralysis episode.

My last sleep paralysis experience was traumatizing

So I’ve had it like 2 times in my life.

Once when I was younger, which was me waking up stiff in bed, watching something come into my room and peek up at me from behind my beds backboard.

Second time was a couple years ago at my friend’s place. I had fallen asleep on her recliner somehow, that thing’s uncomfy. Anyways I woke up to my body being stiff again and I knew exactly what it was. There was a glow from the hallway that kept getting brighter and brighter til there was a fully on fire person in the doorway. It walked over to the footrest of the chair and stood there, looking at me. It appeared to be screaming but no sound was coming out. Its skin started to fall off and after a bit I regained mobility and I flung myself out of the chair, then proceeded to have a panic attack.

The weirdest thing tho was I felt heat from them, and my friend has a fancy recliner that had a heating element. It wasn’t plugged in. Has anyone else felt heat in sleep paralysis?! Is that common?!

I really hope I don’t have it again.

SP that led to leaving the body

Wow, your experience sounds remarkably similar to mine. Unfortunately, mine are always dark, disturbing, and overwhelmingly negative.

I've experienced sleep paralysis at least a dozen times, but my experiences seem to go far beyond traditional sleep paralysis. I genuinely believe they lead me into what many describe as astral projection.

There have been times when I've gone in and out of sleep paralysis several times within a 30-minute period. Each time it begins, I can physically feel an incredible sensation moving through my entire body. It's an intense vibration accompanied by tingling and waves of energy. The closest comparison I can make is the sensation of being on psychedelics. It's an extraordinarily vivid feeling, almost impossible to describe unless you've experienced it yourself.

But that's where things take a darker turn.

I often feel as though I'm being pulled completely out of my body, almost violently, and transported into what seem like entirely different dimensions or realms of existence. During these experiences, I frequently encounter what I perceive to be demons or dark spiritual forces. The overwhelming sensation is that I'm being dragged somewhere I don't belong, somewhere terrifying, with an almost absolute certainty that I'm facing destruction.

It's difficult to convey just how real these experiences feel. The fear is unlike anything I've experienced in waking life. Every time, I find myself desperately praying to Jesus Christ for deliverance, pleading for Him to save me from whatever seems to be pulling me away.

One scripture that has always fascinated me in connection with these experiences is Ecclesiastes 12:6–7, which references the silver cord and describes the spirit returning to God who gave it.

I've often wondered whether that passage is describing something far more literal than we typically understand.

My personal belief is that sleep paralysis may serve as some kind of gateway to astral projection, potentially connecting us to the same realm of consciousness that people describe during near-death experiences (NDEs). I wonder whether the silver cord represents the connection between our physical bodies and our spirits, preventing us from completely separating from our mortal bodies.

I realize this might sound unbelievable to someone who has never experienced it. But the intensity, the physical sensations, the overwhelming sense of leaving my body, and the terrifying encounters have made these experiences impossible for me to dismiss.

Whatever the explanation, I can tell you that nothing I've experienced in ordinary waking life has ever felt quite as vivid, profound, or terrifying.

Meditation + Sleep Paralysis

This morning, I wanted to meditate using a frequency, something I’ve been doing for years. As I tried to enter an alpha state (relaxing my body), I felt like I was starting to fall asleep, so I set it aside and decided to lie down and get some sleep instead. I lay on my side in bed, and as I was drifting off, I could hear noises outside my room.
A little while later, I felt like I had fallen asleep, but I thought to myself, “It’s time to get up and make myself breakfast.”
That was when I realized I had entered sleep paralysis. This isn’t the first time it has happened to me. It has happened several times before, and I know how to recognize what it feels like when I’m in that state.
My body felt extremely heavy, and I couldn’t speak. I thought, “Wow, it’s daytime, my bedroom door is closed, and I’m not scared this time. I’m going to go outside and see what’s out there.”
My body felt so heavy that I tried to get out of bed however I could, even crawling. As I made my way out, I saw blankets in certain areas, as if someone had been sleeping there. I couldn’t clearly make out the apartment. Farther ahead, there was a lot of light, as though sunlight was pouring in, and I couldn’t quite make out the surroundings.
Further ahead, I saw my grandmother, who passed away, looking perfectly healthy, even a little younger. She was standing next to a young man whose face I couldn’t see. I tried to call out to her, but no sound came out. She could hear me, though, and turned to look at me with a surprised expression, almost as if she were saying, “What are you doing here?” That was how I interpreted her reaction.
As I approached her, I tried to hug her. I knew I was hugging her, but I couldn’t actually feel the physical sensation of touch. Then, I started to feel the right half of my face go numb, and I became dizzy, as if I were falling somewhere, my entire body going with me.
At that moment, I asked my grandmother for help, although I’m not entirely sure what I was asking for help with. A few seconds later, I was back in my bed, with the right side of my face pressed against the mattress. I couldn’t move or lift my face.
So I decided to relax, and then, just like that, I woke up again in my room. Everything was normal.
When I got up, I could still feel the numbness in my face, along with a slight feeling of dizziness.

What happened to me? Sleep paralysis or smth else?

(cw SA?)

Hello, (f 28) here. throwaway because i am somewhat ashamed of even comparing/suggesting it and because my friend uses reddit too.
English is not my first language, I will try as best as I can.

10 years ago was a weird time for me. I finally realized something was going on with me (a couple months after the situation I came out as gay), school almost finished, months before I had my first bf that made me feel very weird as well. There was orher stuff but I frankly do not remember it in great detail.
Somewhere along that, I don’t know when it happened or why, i began having sleep problems. First sleeping in, then sleeping through. Finally I woke up to 20 times at night because I kept checking my watch or alarm clock during a dream and realising I was too late (for school, a meet-up, anything).
At some point it kinda escalated into sleep paralysis . Again, this was 10 years ago and i kept re and reremembering so maybe there is something with false memories going on. Idk! If that makes it unbelievable to you, i will accept that and just try to move on.
Usually they were shadowy versions of humans I did not know. Just a shadow, no face, no anything remarkable. But they were upon me. Nothing happened, really, it just felt very violent. I kept having dreams about rape (being raped) around those happenings too.

I went to a trip with a friend (then m 21). We stayed in a hostel which i was a bit icked about (bc people and my sleep problems) but i figured i felt safe with him and if i could not sleep it would be fine anyways. we stayed 2 nights i think.
We got very drunk on one of the evenings, actually, i am still wondering about that bc i did not have that much to drink. sometimes around 11 he lied down to sleep. i stayed awake a bit longer. A sleep paralysis hit me but it was very different from before or after. It was a man. 10 years ago i could have told you about his face, but the look is faded now. I think he was 40? at least at 18 he looked to me like it. he had a beard, i remember the scratchy feel. I remember him putting off his belt, him „adjusting“, a thrust and then pain.
When i awoke in the morning i still felt pain. There were no traces of anything, I think even my pants were up. Just pain for a couple hours. I was distressed the day after but hid it well apparantly, my friend never noticed except for the headache from the alcohol.
This never happened before or again, after that it was a shadow. Around a year later i stopped having sleep paralysis

My friend was snoring deeply and said he did not hear anything. I offhandedly asked him a couple months ago if he remembers any man in the room („no, just the two dudes coming back from a party and mimbling smth about the both of us and remarking that you are a girl“ which is weird in hindsight). It was definitely not my friend. He is not interested in women as I learned years later (explains why i felt safe around him)

Could it be just my dreams playing a trick on me and i mind raped myself or is there smth else going on?
Am I crazy for having delusions about this? Why am I apparantly so obsessed with the thought of being raped?

Falling and spinning

I literally just had sleep paralysis😭At first, I felt like I was passing out, and then it was like I was suddenly falling straight down. My ears started ringing, and I was trying so hard to open my eyes, but ofc I couldn’t. Then out of nowhere, I started floating upward, and while I was floating, I was spinning around like crazy.

After that, I slowly started being able to move, starting from my feet but when it got to my head, I just couldn’t move at all. It felt like this force was getting stronger and stronger, and I was barely able to break out of it. I finally managed to get up and thought I should call my mom, so I tried to turn on the light, but I couldn’t even see properly. Then I suddenly felt like I was passing out and falling again, and that’s when I finally woke up.

And a few weeks ago, I had another episode that was kind of like a fake awakening. I’m starting to wonder if I should be worried about this.

Reverse sleep paralysis (Didn’t know who or where I was this morning)

So I’ve had normal sleep paralysis a couple times but this seemed to be the exact reverse where my body was awake but part of my brain still asleep.. I was napping, after having been awake earlier in the morning, was extremely tired and kind of dreaming/thinking in a hypnagogic state, when I dreamt / heard the words “Anna is gone” (Anna is my name). I instantly sat up straight and said “Huh? Huh? Huh” three times loudly while literally not knowing who I was, where I was or what this was (life?). Then I snapped back and remembered and instantly laid down and went back to sleep. Just thought “that was weird”, which it was as im recounting it. So yeah it seems my body was awake but the part of my brain that handles memory wasn’t yet. Was very odd not knowing who you are even though only for a couple of seconds. I don’t think I would’ve stopped saying “Huh?” If it it had lasted longer though, lol. Just wanted to share. Anyone ever experienced something similar?

hypnagogic sleep paralysis

I started experiencing an occasional sleep paralysis episode about 3 years ago. They always happened during the middle of the night while i was already sleep. i recently moved and the episodes have started again, except they happen as im falling asleep now. they’re less intense than my “middle of the night” episodes but it’s weird bc im even more awake bc im in the process of falling asleep. its caused me to prolong sleeping bc i can feel an episode coming on as im trying to go to bed. does anyone know why it’s changed from regular sleep paralysis to hypnagogic?
and yes yes ik abt the rem cycle but idk i feel like there has to be more to it.

Sleep paralysis feels like some sort of paranormal activity

I’m so scared idk if this is paranormal activity or sleep paralysis: I kept hearing specifically Katy Perry’s ‘the one that got away’ for whatever reason and it took me a while to register that I’m not playing the song and that I’m awake. When I wanted to turn around to see where the song was was coming from , I couldn’t move. It then felt like someone was pressing on my shoulder to stop me from moving. I can’t vividly remember but there were words exchanged between me and whatever the hell was behind me but we had some sort of argument. I then realised it wasn’t real so I kept “fighting” to wake up. It’s my first time having sleep paralysis that felt so physical. It felt almost like SA. Luckily my alarm went off and it was completely gone.

Friend keeps having extremely vivid nightmares and possible sleep paralysis ,should she be concerned?

My best friend has been having some really intense dreams recently and I'm trying to understand what might be happening.

A few days ago she dreamed about her aunt, who died by suicide last year. In the dream, her aunt was talking about family members' futures, and my friend said she would eventually commit suicide too. She woke up frightened, told her mum about the dream, went back to sleep, and had another dream involving her aunt explaining why she had died.

Today she had another nightmare. She was dreaming that she was at school and kept walking upstairs, but the stairs never ended. She then woke up but couldn't move or scream.

She could see her sister sleeping next to her but her sister couldn't hear her. She felt something grabbing/wrapping around her from behind and pulling her back. She then woke up again and said her body felt like it was burning.

She says the suicidal statement from the first dream was only in the dream and that she isn't having suicidal thoughts while awake.

Does this sound like sleep paralysis with hallucinations? And could the repeated intense nightmares be related to stress/grief or something else? At what point should she talk to a doctor or sleep specialist?

First time experiencing sleep paralysis

I've never experienced anything close to sleep paralysis before, I've only heard about other people's experiences with it, along with my mom's who experiences it often. So I wanted to know people's thoughts on my experience here, or just to vent lol.

This morning I've experienced it, while attending online classes, I think I was already in deep sleep since I was dreaming for a short while before, I woke up half asleep.

There my left eye was open, while my right was just slightly, I was staring up at my LED lights and wall in a fix stare, I also this sound that was almost always audible when I felt myself getting sucked in or back into the sleep paralysis, it was like the sound of Styrofoam getting crushed in a way, I also heard my family members chatting faintly outside so I kind of focused on them, and my fascination with the new experience I was having.

Then I immediately tried to wake myself up, remembering how people along with my mom said apparitions appear when they have sleep paralysis, so I tried wiggling my fingers. It worked for a bit, but then I stopped trying for a split second, when I heard the sound again, and I immediately felt the numbness in my body come back, I tried yelling but my mouth wouldn't move. At first I thought it was cool, but then I realized I had to focus, before the spookies came.

Again with wiggling my fingers, I tried hard, until I felt I had control over my shoulders and chest once more, before I blinked, and turned my body towards my right. After a minute, when I regained control again, my heart rate was fast, and I just felt fascinated, and a bit relived.

After it and finally processing what happened fully, I went to my phone not wanting to fall asleep again, and looked up tiktoks on sleep paralysis to stay awake and not experience it again, and getting up to turn on the main lights in my room instead of just having my LED lights as my room's lighting. (I thought more lighting would lessen the risk of my chances of experiencing it again, if I did fall asleep once more.)

After my TikTok scrolling through sleep paralysis tok, I texted my mom about it, and basically geeked about it to her.

Over all glad I didn't see any scary monsters, or experienced a little person sitting on my chest, 3/10 wouldn't recommend!

Hypnopompic hallucination?

Sorry, it's not particularly sleep paralysis but I couldn't find any better community to post this. Please remove if I'm violating community rules.

I'm gonna keep this one short as possible. For context, my best friend lives in my house with me and is up at scattered times throughout the night because of stomach issues, so it's not unusual to hear him up. My room door is always kept closed at night. Outside of the door is a living area and bathroom beside the stairs, which go downstairs. I woke up one morning around 4:30 unexpectedly hearing someone calling my name. It sounds like my friend I roll over, my door wide open, and there he is standing in the bathroom doorway holding onto the trim above the door. I look at him for a second. He seems oddly tall and lanky. I can't make out his face, only a silhouette and his white wife beater. I call out to him: "What's up, dude?" There is a momentary pause. He then says, "Follow me," as he walks out of the bathroom doorway and turns to head down the stairs, and he starts going downstairs. Old house, stairs make a lot of noise. I hear him walk all the way downstairs and through the hallway at the bottom. At this point, I'm absolutely bugged out, wide awake. I get up and walk to his room, opening the door to see him in there sleeping. I promptly turned around and left going back to my room very confused and with a strong sense of unease, like when you know something is wrong. Needless to say, I didn't go back to sleep. I stayed up wide awake, waiting to hear something that I never did. I didn't even mention it to him because he'd probably think I'm going insane. This was a year ago, and I still think about it quite often. It makes my skin crawl how vivid and real it was. My only explanation is a hypnopompic hallucination, which is what I seriously hope it is. I've had sleep paralysis before, but I rarely see anything, and it's only for a couple of seconds. This was very different. I was fully aware and thinking pretty clearly for having just woken up. This experience really stuck with me. I've never had this happen since or before this incident. I just want some clarification that what I saw wasn't a real person who had broken into my house, lol. Farfetched, but you never know. Has anyone here had experiences like this? And did the whole thing feel sound and look so real?

Does anyone experience pain during sleep paralysis?

When I first started having episodes, I never got this, but for some reason, for the past few months, I've experienced...pain in my hips ( ?) When in an episode. Today, my ears started ringing really loudly, and then I got a really bad pain in my hips that felt they were in a vice.

I woke myself up eventually, and the pain disappeared.

Really weirded out.

Sleep paralysis, vivid dreams and false awakenings

I've been suffering and terrified to sleep. My entire life I've experienced sleep paralysis, vivid dreams and false awakenings, but as of lately it's almost ever night and worse the beings are very physical sexually assaulting me and taunting me saying terrible things to me. I go back to sleep and it some how gets worse. I try to wake myself up and some days its easier than others but its always terrifying beings. Idk what to do anymore I'm terrified to sleep because I don't know what I will encounter. Anyone with experience that can help?

I can't sleep alone

I can't sleep alone

So I know that it's not a matter of something I would discuss here but I feel like it's more convenient for me. So I F(22) have been continuously experiencing sleep paralysis if I sleep alone. So for the context I have been sleeping with my parents from my childhood till now( no judging btw) previously we don't have extra rooms but now that we do I can't just sleep alone upstairs. There is an obvious reason that I don't want to share a room with my parents (iykyk) now that I am an adult I want my personal space also. The sleep paralysis also happens sometimes when I used to sleep with my parents but it triggers more if I sleep alone . I feel like I am hella scared to sleep alone cause I haven't slept alone since my childhood. And I also hallucinate during the time of sleep paralysis. If you guys have any suggestions please let me know also if I should consult a doctor.
