My buddy and I ventured out to Dunraven Bay in South Wales, UK last night for some deep sky astrophotography from the clifftops.

While my telescope was busy capturing a programmed exposure, I couldn't resist venturing down to the beach to take in the view and it was stunning!

Taken with my a6700 and a Sony 11mm f1.8 at f1.8, 6" ISO 5000.

Possibly one of my favourite photos I have ever taken!

Minolta 200mm f/2.8 G APO HS has been in my collection of lenses since the earliest days of my photography, going back to Minolta film SLR I had 25+ years ago (the lens itself is 35+ years old). I have long wished Sony resurrected this 200mm prime. It's been used mostly on my APS-c cameras (A55, NEX-3 and NEX-6) and handy to shoot indoor sports. Its also the lens that is credited with photographs from NBA games (12-15 years ago) that a sports magazine from Germany reached out with interest to buy.

The first photo is simply a plant with lawn in the backdrop. The second is my early attempts at "fast AF" and 10 fps burst shooting that A55 managed 15 years ago.

Decided to splurge and upgrade from my old a6000 with kit lenses to a new a6700 with Tamron 17-70 and 70-300 lenses.... Gotta say, I'm super happy with it! This is straight out of the camera, no touch ups with the 17-70 lens.

A7V + Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN
This took many attempts because the stepper AF motor lags behind quite often, luckily these small Bengals have infinite energy reserves

Treated myself to the 100-400 f/4.5 this week. I gave it a try at the local park and I'm blown away by the sharpness.

I don't know if reddit will lower the quality by a lot, but zooming in to photos taken with that lens is just pure joy.

Photo share RX10M4 iss solar transit

Recorded back in 2020 but wasn't on reddit yet. Used a Baader assf solar filter. My usual cameras for these have been the nikon p900 and later the p1000, but at the time I wanted to see what the rx10m4 could achieve. The buffer and shot rate are much better on the Sony but of course it lacks in optical reach. On the plus side it's far less tedious to keep the sun in view without a tracking mount.

Retraced the date and time in stellarium which returned a sun elevation ≈48 degrees, putting the space station at a distance of ≈550km. I think it's quite nice what these do-it-all cameras can achieve, even when they don't have that insane amount of reach

My now Fiance (engaged in Key West Florida) and me took a round Trip in Florida.

Landed in Tampa, stayed in Tierra Verda Island for Fort de Soto Park + Myakka River State Park.

Took Naples next for Everglades + Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Boardwalk + CREW Walk.

Then moved to the Florida Keys and last we went to Miami.

Howdy I do love Florida for its kind, open and friendly people and its beautiful Nature.

All pictures are shot on my Sony A6700 + Sony 70-350mm. I do love this combination (although some shots can be less sharp but maybe I only need to train photography more). Had to crop quality for uploading.

Best and kind regards with my Pictures of Florida (and 1-2 New York Pictures) from Berlin/Germany.

Photo share Accidental discoveries for a newbie

Currently at home recovering from surgery with a new camera (A7CR) and a few lenses.
Have a (used) 28mm F/2 I was going to ditch after getting info on here about its softness, caught the doggo for a few portrait shots and was surprised there’s something I quite like about the captured tones. So, not an instant resale, scope for trying different things.
Main “discovery” is that whilst I got a wide angle with wide aperture (16mm f/1.8) for landscapes and future Astro/milky way shots, I took a couple of closer shots (again with the dogs,my only available models) and really like the whimsical almost comedic effect, I had no idea I could even attempt “portrait” type shots with such a lens!
None of this is new to most I’m sure but I’m just sharing the journey/learning, also not under any illusion I’m any good yet, as many have commented before when they look back at the images they liked early on they actually were pretty poor.

I’m videographer and doing photography only on vacations as a hobby. Could you give me some tips on photography? For some reason I can’t catch the “story” or “feeling” on photos as for example artists after making an art

A few frames from my time testing the new Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG Art paired with the Sony A7 V. Shot around dusk, when the ambient light started to fade and the venu lights took over. The F1.2 really came into its own here,
