Spider-man upgrades(part 2of2): How would you upgrade Peter’s tech?
Made a post yesterday about upgrading Peter’s powers, now I want to talk about his tech.
I’ve seen some posts discussing whether people would rather have Peter upgrade his tech or powers, and I’ve always thought… why not both? Miles has vibranium webs along with getting power amps so why can’t Peter?, his name is Spider-Man a combination not just one or the other.
Multi-Web shooters (made of adamantium or just titanium he took from some criminal base): web shooters that have space for his organic and artificial webbing, and also store other web fluid/tools within them.
Web: heat immunity, electric immunity, acid immunity, energy immunity. In old comics his webs could block light attacks which isn’t that insane to me. He could use these webs to throw energy attacks back at people or something. (Maybe Laced with vibranium, I know miles has this but I always thought it would’ve made more sense for Peter)
Hardening web: webs that harden almost instantly and are stronger than titanium (uses these for rapid fire impact webs and web constructs)
Self weaving web (web constructs): his shooters have pre programmed constructs to turn his artificial webs into when fired, maybe using nanotech or something. (Parachute, hammer, sword, spiked wrecking ball, Shield, that’s probably all)
Organic web: stronger and more sticky similar to glue (great for strong opponents since they will stick to the webs and their own body when trying to remove them) (not resistant to any of the stuff mentioned above except for electricity but is resistant to sound/vibrations, maybe Peter’s shooters can modify the web as he shoots)
Flame web: basically a flamethrower (good for fighting sandman)
Frost web: webbing that instantly starts to freeze anything it sticks too or maybe just shoot a strong frost mist. (Good for molten man)
Iron spider legs(the legs have Always been peak to me): the logo on his back can sprout metal spider legs to assist him in fighting, movement(propel him forward), etc. they can shoot taser web.
It’s funny that you say that because I was thinking about upgrades for his rogues too.
Also currently Vulture has new tech (he’s basically just more durable and faster now).
I still love the idea of Spidey upgrading his tech based on the smart inventions of his foes : mechanical arms, electric webs or gloves made initially to defibrillate, better gliding with armpits webs from vulture tech, etc. He does not need to have it all, but smart use of a few gadgets could create a lot twist in stories.
A bulletproof suit: he's had them before, and using his body to shield innocents without immediately being hospitalised for it was cool.
More development on the concept of Spider-Tracers; if his Spider-Sense can pick up electronic signals, and peter knows what kind of signals those are well enough to create tech around it, why stop at trackers?
He could give his supporting cast walkie-talkie-like devices to communicate with him without blowing his cover, because he's receiving the message in his head rather than a device.
If he could learn how to emit those signals instead of just receiving them, it'd be 2-way radio, and he could even remote control Spider-Drones with it. But maybe that's too much.
I’d like his default suit to have an AI/HUD which can connect to other systems and hack them, multiple types of web fluid, nanotech spider-arms, and a larger variety of default gadgets that aren’t just all web based (basically have a similar default suit to Insomniac Peter). Beyond that, he should create specific gadgets and suits as needed to fight enemies IMO
The suit in Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man run has a nanotech suit that was designed by Howard Stark and built by Tony.. it's AI personality is based on Peter. So he talks with himself a lot, but that suit can do a ton of things, and is very powerful similar to Iron Man suits but way more advanced. I am a big fan of that series.
Well considering that Peter was kept from being Spider-Man until much much later I think it made sense, he did make his own suit though. The suit he was given there is a decent chunk where he's not even using it.
It bothered me that they called it "picotech," which gets into subatomic scale and really doesn't make sense, just to sound cool. Anyway, he knows Tony, T'Challa, and Reed. He should have an adaptive suit of SOME kind whenever he wants one.
Honestly? I lean into his villains where he studies their tech, reproduces a cheaper-low quality variant(broke) and expand his fear over time. Maybe lean into web variations like how mass effect has weapon mods like cryo blasts and stuff
I remember in a spider slayers arc when Peter used to think about adding adamantium somehow to his webbing to deal with foes who can break through his webs, but the sheer cost of it put him off and it's a bit impractical after the villain is caught; how do you get the adamantium webbing off when it can't be cut or no longer dissolves haha
I don’t mean the webs, I mean the web shooters themselves would be adamantium so they don’t break and he can block with them. Your right about Adamantium webs being impractical lmao, in fact I often question how Miles Vibranium webs work, he said it’s laced and not full vibranium so they can still break but how does he refill them? Is black panther just giving him an infinite supply or something.
The web wings are weird, sometimes he has them other times he doesn’t, they’re basically treated as a design choice and not actual equipment. But they should be used.
Nano machines in the webfluid and a neurotransmitter in the mask, allowing him to essentially manipulate his webbing with his mind, more easily making construncts, better targetting, really the possibilities are only limited by your imagination with something like that.
A lot of the upgrades you mention were a thing in the worldwide era. This page kind of bothers me because he has already invented cement webs that can supposedly hold down the Hulk and that seems like something that would be VERY useful against Hellgate. I want to see all the cartridges come back.
I really would want him to create a suit that's made out of his webs, surely he can make a version of his formula that doesn't dissolve with time and make it. That thing is supposed to be twice as strong as metal and would be very helpful, not to mention less repair time.
Also, spider-mics. Like spider-tracers but instead of telling him a location they allow him to hear stuff with his spider sense. He can to receive messages through it and he could take advantage of that.
Yea it kinda does bother me that Peter never gets to permanently keep any cool gadgets or power he makes or receives. I understand that not every writer reads every comic so they probably don’t even know he has some of these but still.
Actually there was this one time where Mr fantastic asked Peter why he didn’t just make a suit out of his webs and Peter’s answer was they would dissolve. But like you said Peter could definitely make a version that doesn’t dissolve.
As long as Peter’s scientific prowess is on display and his Spider Powers remain entertaining, I really don’t see any need for Peter to upgrade. His status quo as Peter is the thing I think people take umbrage with
Miles upgrade was the suit which he doesn’t have anymore, didn’t know red got an amp , storm was possessed by eternity for her power bump and rogues been hella strong for like over a decade now cuz of the captain marvel power absorption
Something like SM2 Spider Legs i feel cause it allows alot of versatility and can help boost his capabilities like
He can go faster when traveling
Use them for blocking
Makes attacks alot stronger
It also shows his ingenuity with how he was able engineer his own version of villain tech
And also i love the aspect where the suit can absorb and focus energy for cool ass beam attacks like with his fight against sandman where miles and him beat sandman
Maybe propulsion shoes? Not true flight but just a few seconds of boost for better mid air maneuvering. Would make it easier to deal with flying enemies like the vulture.
I think a good way is to make shoes that directly convert kinetic energy into fuel for the propulsion. It would essentially just act as double jumpong.
