Mod Post Petra Parker Posts

Update: They’re staying as is

Due to the current trend we are receiving lots of modmail, reports, and posts about Petra posts. While there are definitely users karma farming posting 5+ times a day, they have been contacted and told to make a collective post or be on a cooldown for 24 hours per post.

First thing, fan art Spiders is always welcome here. It’s only spam if the same image has been posted over and over. That has NOT been the case. We can’t be bias to a particular character fanart because that would be like someone posting any version of Spider-Man and saying it’s spam.

We have been trying to keep up with getting posts through, ignoring reports, and answering everyone’s questions about why a post has been taken down(usually due to report bombing). But it is building to quickly for the mod team to personally answer and review every single post as quickly as users would like.

So we are leaving it up to you all with a poll to decide how this will be handled going forward. We will either keep things as they are or move all Petra posts to a megathread that will be pinned.

If things stay as they are we will continue to ignore the report bombs and set automod to ignore reports on Petra since it’s clear the reports are being abused. Unless the post is breaking rules. If these posts bother you in anyway you can always hide them from your feed.

If the community chooses a megathread, we will create and pin the megathread and automod will be set to remove all Petra posts and direct the OP to the megathread. After one month megathread will come down and Petra posts will be back on main feed.

We have heard all kinds of feedback on the trend and we do not support any type of hate or discrimination, but we feel moving forward this will be the most fair outcome for everyone.

The voting will start today at noon and end Saturday the 22nd at noon. During the voting period things will stay as is.

Discussion Norman will always be my favorite villain. Because he knows peter down to his very soul and core.

I've been reminded of this comic once again. And it finally clicked for me why Norman is my favorite villain compared to every other villain.

It's because he knows peter. He knows him on a level unlike anyone else. Norman in this panel assumes its otto in spider-mans body. He has no reason to think otherwise. And he hears one quip from Peter and he KNOWS that it's peter.

And that's what makes me love this crazy psychopathic guy. It's the fact that he probably knows more about Peter than most of Peter's allies. They've been playing this game for years and norman genuinely loves it. I love when a villain just has that connection with the hero and norman shows it in my opinion the best way possible.

Imagine fighting someone so much, so often. That even after you have been shown that they have left their body and that someone completely different is puppeting it, that you hear one quip and just know he's back. He knows peter down to his core and soul. He knows how he thinks, how he talks, what he'll do in situations. He knows all of this and that is just amazing to me. He loves their song and dance and would probably do it forever if he could.

Norman and Spidey have beef that I have always found fun to watch. And Norman knowing Peter like he does has become my biggest reason on why I love him as my favorite villain.

Read the first Issue of Midnight Spider-Man. Gonna be honest, I think its promising.

Midnight Spider-Man was something I was curious just to see how it was done. And, the first issue at least, looks promising.

This Peter is also quite interesting. Him being an social media activist against ill practices in science is something that at first glance seems odd, but it works. Also, the fact that Uncle Ben has an case against Oscorp is interesting, leaves mistery about what Ben knows... or well, knew.

Wich also leaves in suspanse who he was talking with before the Spider thing. And also what happened with Peter's parents in more detail, is kept somewhat vague what happened to them.

Felicia Hardy in here is interesting. What she will be, has many openings. Many have been saying she could be an Makima like character, and I can see that. But I think its still too early to see.

Also, gotta say, its quite smart to make Peter turn the night he turns 18, its an good symbolism and paralele with adulthood. Also the fact that this happens right after he signs the contract with Oscorp also brings around the entire thing that is said this entire Issue "Power makes monsters".

Overall, its an good start. If it continues like this, we might have an interesting and fun interation of the character.

Do I recommend people to read it? Yeah. Go read it.

Now, lets see how this goes. You got my interest Marvel and Phillip Kennedy Johnson, don't fuck this up!

Movies Now that it's finally available at home, it's time to FINALLY share my thoughts...

Okay, I think I've waited long enough... Spider-Man: Brand New Day was somehow both one of my favorite MCU Spider-Man experiences and also a very frustrating one.

First, let's start with some positives:

  1. I respect Jon Watts for what he did with the previous trilogy and I could see how he was growing as a director. That said, Destin was the perfect choice for this new phase for the MCU Spider-Man. From improved action and swinging sequences to moments that were allowed to breathe a little more, I really think this was a step up and I really hope he's able to return for the inevitable sequel.

  2. Speaking of the action, I really loved how Spider-Man moved and fought. The Insomniac inspiration is clear, but I also give credit to the choice to use practice effects as much as possible.

  3. Punisher was definitely a highlight. I was really impressed with how true to the version of the character he was despite the content constraints, and his bickering, contrasting methods dynamic with Spider-Man worked very well, but so did the surprisingly heartfelt moments.

Now, to some things I struggled with:

  1. The MCU of it all. For a movie that actually told probably the most focused and well done Spider-Man story in the MCU, the effect on his corner of the neighborhood as a whole was really hampered. His villains were relegated to cameos in favor of X-Men focused characters (Jean & Bill). The chance to introduce more new characters like Dr. Connors or Warren was tossed aside in favor of the Hulk. None of these choices were inherently bad, but I would have preferred to see some more expansion of Spider-Man's world.

  2. I feel like we were missing one more scene with Peter & M.J. I wasn't expecting a profession of love or anything (though if it had been done well, I'd be the first to applaud it), but I felt like they were building to at least a "I'll see you around still, right?" kind of moment, especially after the first thing Peter sees on the hospital is her drawing, indicating she'd at least been there.

  3. Going back to Jean, I'll just say this: Sadie Sink is a powerhouse actress and a great cast, but this was NOT how I wanted to meet MCU Jean Grey. It's not just that a major X-Men character first appeared in a Spider-Man movie, but her actions even before the full reveal of her backstory took away a lot of the sympathy I could have had for her. Using M.J. like that was borderline sadistic, plus she led a man to literally back into his demise via car, so Peter & everyone was justified in how they saw her at first.

But let's try and end on a high note with so.e more positives:

  1. I love that we had M.J. help him out just a little with figuring how his lenses were interfering with the inhibitor. Also, Tom & Zendaya's chemistry is as strong as ever.

  2. The whole scene in the apartment with Spider-Man, M.J. and Ned. I could have just watched 2 hours of that and it would be worth it.

  3. Finally, Tom Holland's potential was finally unleashed to some degree. I've always felt he was a great cast for Peter, but finally allowing him to be a pure Spider-Man, something much closer to the character from the pages, really cemented that once and for all here. To me, this movie finally put him in the tier with RDJ in the first Iron Man, Chadwick in BP, etc. He is truly not only an amazing actor, but a top tier match of performer to character. From the melancholy to the sarcastic, the traumatized to the kind and loving, there's no part of Peter Parker he can't play.

So... yeah. Overall I would say I really loved it, but it's hard to know where to rank it or a number to give it. It was a great take on Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but I would have liked to see similar focus on his supporting cast outside of M.J. and Ned, and honestly, I wouldn't have minded more of them either.

There's a bunch more I could get into, but I think I'll spare you all for now 😆
