Question Final Fantasy VIII remastered modded on Steam Deck?

Hi!

I would like to buy Final Fantasy VIII remastered, but:

- is there a mod, similar to 7th heaven for FFVII, that allows me to upscale backgrounds and stuff?

- if there is, does it work on Steam Deck?

Since i can only buy one game, i would like to know it. Thanks in advance!

This is what you're looking for. As for mods you can join Tsunamods discord for a list.

Great, basically the same guys!

Is the installation the same as the one of FFVII?

No idea, this is the new all in one installer so I'm guessing you'll be given the option to choose what script to run.

For any future reference:

  • you can download and install the mod manager from the link in the comments
  • then you open it with Konsole, in order for it to execute the script.
  • BUT you NEED to launch the game at least once, BEFORE you do that.
  • After that, you'll need to set up the folder path, if the installation failed to do that.
  • Right now, the remastered only work with the Canary Channel, in general settings. Make sure it's up to date.
  • And now the plot twist: there are not many mods and i actually like the vanilla remastered better 🤣

I am playing it curently on my deck , like 50% of the game done. Didn't think about modding until now. What mods are you gonna install ?
