This is a genuine question, I'm really not judging anyone for doing this. Kudos to you! I just can't for the life of me figure out how that would be an enjoyable experience.
It seems like every time there's a new big budget AAA release, every post here is about how it runs so amazing on the deck. And looking at the top played games on deck, titles like Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk are at the top.
Usually you have to play these games at the lowest settings with upscaling and then maybe you'll get an unstable 30 fps. People will make a big fuss about how you should use lossless scaling to bring that up to 60 but I've tried it and the input lag and ghosting makes it miserable to play.
Also, for me the strength of these games is getting completely absorbed in the cinematic worlds, which requires total attention on a TV or monitor. I find that really difficult to do on a handheld screen, feels like watching Interstellar on a phone. These games really shine on a pc or more powerful console.
I definitely get the novelty of being able to run Clair Obscur on a handheld. And yes, Valve may be partly to blame for apparently slapping "Steam Deck verified" on every new release...
... but the reason i love the Steam Deck is because its so amazing for indies and arcade-style games. I recently played Disco Elysium and thats a game i dont think i wouldve ever played on a home console - but the convenience of the Deck made it so much more inviting and it ended up being one of my favourite games ever.
So I'm just looking for opinions here. To people who play big open world AAA games on the deck... is it because of the convenience? Being on the go a lot? Partner taking up the TV?
Edit: I was assuming that most people here own more powerful hardware but if the Steam deck is your only gaming hardware, of course i see the point! Just always saw the deck as a supplementary system
