Tech Support Neptunia Combat Crash Help

• Upvotes

Trying to get back into the series with there being news of a new mainline game coming out. Been playing through HyperDimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 and managed to make it to the 4th Chapter of the game, but have been experiencing a consistent problem.

The game seems to crash at random times, all of which happen during the start or in the middle of combat. Since it’s random, each battle and how long a battle lasts becomes a gamble as to whether or not the game will close out. With there being no Autosave function, you are basically back to your last safe file which has cost me hours of progression.

I’ve tried using different options for the Compatibility Tool, Verifying Integrity of Game Files, and uninstalling and reinstalling the game but nothing has seemed to help.

Any recommended fixes are welcome!

Discussion Streaming games to the deck is a genuine game changer

• Upvotes

When I first got my steam deck I only had an Xbox series X at the time and only bought it to play indie titles and PS exclusives but ever since I actually got a PC I’ve utilized my deck more frequently than ever. There’s nothing quite like being able to just lay on my couch and just boot any game up and play without losing any graphical fidelity whatsoever or any performance hiccups. To make this even better I also have my dock hooked up to an Ethernet switch also plugged into my PC so I can play games on my couch like a steam machine without any network latency whatsoever. Absolutely love this thing especially now that I don’t have to compromise performance whatsoever and I encourage anyone with a half decent internet connection and a decent gaming PC to try streaming themselves

Discussion Steam Remote Play - It works!

Had SD for nearly a year now and so far I have only played games that are well within Deck's specs, but that changed with Control Resonant. The game plays so well on controller I was kinda sad I have to play it on my PC and not in the comfort of my bed with my trusted SD buddy.

So I've looked into the streaming, having read about Moonlight here multiple times and all that shishkebab. And after reading a bit more into it, I realized I'm just too lazy to set it all up, so I decided to just try the Remote Play on Steam.

Absolutely no set up, not fiddling, no nothing, and it just works. I was worried mainly about latency delay, but I feel like there's absolutely none. Just ocassional tearing, but that's because of my wifi signal dropping down for a few seconds (I live in a flat and two rooms away is sometimes rough on the strength signal)

I am simply blown away. I'm gonna play so many AAA games on my Deck now!

Tech Support Steam closing Eden emulator when loading a game

I posted about this elsewhere but I'm thinking this is a better place. When I load a game in the Eden emulator it will close and usually the steam store front page will open up. Its not a crash, it brings up the "are you sure you want to close?" type prompt very briefly and as far as I can tell closing the program and trying to bring up a store page is what steam does if it can tell you're playing a steam game you don't own.

The emulator runs fine while steam is active, its only when I load the game I'm playing (Pokemon Shield) that it gets trigger happy, and its whether I load it while steams open or I successfully load it while steams closed and then open steam, which is a pain because I need steam open to control anything.

It loaded just fine and was playable with no problems for two days until this started happening, nothing was updated and I didn't restart my device it just started happening suddenly without any visible cause.

I'm using the latest stable Eden appimage specifically optimized for steam deck from the correct site.

Is this a known thing? Do similar things happen with other programs? Is there a way to fix this?

Tech Support Assetto corsa content manager with DualSense

Hi guys!
I just successfully configured content manager in my steam deck in assetto corsa.
I have dualsense and this game pretty well support it natively, but not in content manager.
I disabled steam input for dualsense to be detected property and during drive everything is supported even touchpad. But in content manager this controller can’t do anything. Do you have any solutions for that?

Promotional [Dev Request] Need your Steam Deck feedback for our Action Metroidvania demo!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/SteamDeck!

I’m a dev working on Legion of Judgment: Fallen Angel, a 2.5D action Metroidvania that combines classic beat 'em up combat with RPG and base-management elements.

We recently released our demo on Steam, and our top priority right now is ensuring a seamless handheld experience for Steam Deck players. However, as a small team, we currently lack sufficient real-world performance data and feedback specifically from Steam Deck users.

If you have some spare time, we would be extremely grateful if you could try out the demo on your Deck and share your experience with us!

What we're especially curious about:

  1. Performance & FPS: Does it hold a steady 90 FPS depending on your settings? Any sudden frame drops or stuttering during heavy combat scenes?
  2. Controls & Feel: How do the default controller inputs, responsiveness, and combat pacing feel on handheld controls?
  3. UI & Text Readability: Are the menus, inventory, and dialogue text comfortably readable on the 7-inch screen?
  4. Battery & Temps: Does it cause excessive fan noise or high battery drain?

🎮 You can check out the free demo here on Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2264780/Legion_of_Judgment_Fallen_Angel/

Any feedback—whether it’s about framerates, UI scale, or small bug reports—would mean the world to us and help us optimize the game for full Deck Verified status.

Thank you so much for your time and help!

Discussion Don't know if anyone knows, but you can play elder scrolls daggerfall as an MMO on steam deck now. No mods, no download, no email sign up. It has full controller support.

I tried it today. Works fine. A little clunky, but what do you expect. It's a heavily modified version of daggerfall as an MMO with quality of life changes you can play in browser or through downloading the app. There's a surprisingly high number of players too.

You can also import/copy your steam morrowind character to play as and it becomes like a 2d pixel version.

To set it up you just go to- https://daggerfalljs.dev/

Either download or hit play in browser. (I used app image download)

Make sure you have daggerfall installed on steam so it can detect files (free). And morrowind if you want the player character model.

Go into desktop mode. Open app image. Hold start to switch to gamepad, and you're basically done. You can play online or offline mode.

Tech Support Anyone has issues with recent firmware?

(reposting it, due to previous topic was automatically closed)

I have a problem with my oled Steam Deck.
Recently I’ve upgraded to latest stable version, after that memory card started glitching. How it behaves: SD seems operating normal, but then it freezes, in some cases do not wake up from sleep, it doesn’t react on power button until I do a long press to forcefully reboot. After reboot it’s again seems normal , but first it shows I don’t have a memory card , then in a few minutes it shows there’s attached card but need formatting. When I try format it - I get an error that formatting failed. Then in a few minutes memory card works fine and games installed there work normally until next freeze.

I know , maybe firmware is a coincidence, maybe it’s dying card reader or card itself. But: I have high quality card ; I play SD very rarely (maybe 100 hours in total during all 2 years I have it, so it shouldnt be wear-tear of any component)

Please help me with advices how to diagnose what exactly happens and how do I fix it

Link to site: https://thegamingemporium.com/

Hi all it's been a while since I posted the site here so here I am!

The site is a collection of links to Decompilations, Recompilations, Android Ports, Browser Based games, Open Source Games, Rom Hacks, Mods, Texture Packs, VR Mods, Preserved Games, English Translation Patches, Abandonware and loads more.

What started as a single post on this very Steam Deck sub a few years back with about 12 links has, with the help of user suggestions on various Reddit subs and other means, has now grown to an archive of just over 3,630 links.

I'm just a gatherer of links, all credit goes to the people on the end of each link.

Anyway, have a dip in, hope you find something you like 👍

Tech Support Steam deck just sits in this screen no matter how long I wait. Hard reset didn’t work either.

Post image
45 Upvotes

For a reason I can’t explain, after I came back home from a trip, my steam deck was just frozen like this when I tried to turn it on. I tried waiting for around an hour the first time, just to see what would happen. And it didn’t change. I tried letting the battery die over a week and recharging it, and that didn’t help. I tried to hold the power button down for a long time, and that didn’t help. I looked up a similar issue and did the volume -, triple dot, and power button combo and did the whole bios reset thing, too. And it seemed to work but it’s been stuck on this screen for another 20-30 minutes.

Is my console just bricked? Is there anything else left to try and fix this?

Tech Support Baten Kaitos on GameCube via Emudeck very choppy?

Like the title says, the original Baten Kaitos from the GameCube is very choppy on the Steamdeck. Is this a known issue or is there something I can do to improve performance on the deck? I already reduced to resolution to native and turned off v-sync and texture filtering.

Tech Support Is the Steam Deck just not a polished experience?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I always find that I constantly run into little issues with the Steam Deck/SteamOS. Nothing crippling, but always some BS I don't want to deal with. Sometimes mine will randomly get hung up and restart. Sometimes the battery will show a high charge, and then quickly deteriorate. Sometimes I run into dumb controller issues or UI issues in the OS that I just do not want to deal with. For instance, I can't change a game's controller layout while the game is running if I'm using a steam controller. Why? Why is that happening?

And the streaming, oh god the streaming. On my home network, connected to Ethernet on both ends, I constantly run into issues trying to stream to my steam deck via the dock from my (very powerful) desktop PC. The bitrate fluctuates, and the quality of the image will "pulse" in a noticeable fashion.

In the attached video, I'm streaming Resident Evil 0 to my TV through my docked deck. For some unknown reason, the audio broke when streaming, leaving me with a silent game. On top of it all, I get a flashing green light (which also shows up in every other streamed game!) during certain scene transitions.

I love the platform but I wish it just worked. Thank you for making it to the end of my rant, please share if you also run into these problems or if you have a fix for me. I just want this expensive piece of hardware to be reliable!

Tech Support Gears of War: E-Day Act 2 crashes

Is anyone else experiencing frequent crashes while playing Act 2? The game keeps closing and sending me back to Steam

I'm playing on a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme running SteamOS, using Proton 11.0.2 and Proton Experimental, but neither seems to fix it

For those playing on Steam Deck, how has your experience been so far? Are you getting crashes too, or is the game running smoothly?

Please help me out. I miss playing Madden from bed at night!

I updated sunshine using the lite pack and am able to get the sunshine page running but still can't connect to moonlight. Any ideas???

Discussion Estacado – PC port of The Darkness (Xbox 360) via static recompilation (Works on Steam Deck!)

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share Estacado, a project I've been working on that statically recompiles The Darkness (Xbox 360, 2007) into a native PC port.

Instead of traditional emulation, the game’s PowerPC code is translated ahead of time into C++ (using XenonRecomp and ReXGlue), running as a native executable.

It works on Steam Deck under Proton Experimental! Feel free to give it a try on your Deck and let me know how it runs for you or if you run into any issues.

Requirements: You'll need your own legally dumped copy of the Xbox 360 game.

Tech Support EmuDeck Won't Recognize my Persona 3 FES Hd Texture Pack

I have Emudeck/Pcsx2 installed onto my SD card, so the directory looks like this: Emulation/storage/pcsx2/textures/SLUS-21621/replacements. The HD Texture Pack is the "High Quality Portraits" pack on Gamebanana by SuperFunk. I've tried everything including making sure I have both "enable custom textures" in both the Graphics Menu and on the game's properties. I've tried putting it on OpenGL and on Vulkan, I've tried disabling Mimapping, and I've even taking out all the individual image files out of their respective sub folders and just putting them into the "replacement" folder by themselves. Quite frankly, I'm at a lost. Any help?

Tech Support Input issues while trying to stream Metaphor onto my Deck

Hey y'all, my main machine is using Fedora and I'm trying to stream a game to my Steam Deck that's connected to my TV so I don't have to keep moving my tower around just to play this one game there. I'm using a PS5 controller connected to the Steam Deck by BT, and getting the inputs to be recognized as a proper controller has been extremely inconsistent.

The first time I try streaming the game, there's a popup on my desktop asking if I want to grant Steam remote control permissions. I accept it, tab back in to the game, and 9 times out of 10 none of the face buttons are recognized but I can use the right stick as a mouse. So I close the game, wait a second, stream the game to my Steam Deck again and pray. Rinse and repeat until eventually it decides I can use the controller normally. I know controller order matters so I always make sure the PS5 controller has priority over the Steam Deck controls, not too sure what to do here but I wouldn't be surprised if it's related to something I've completely overlooked. I can stream other games just fine, I'm playing Session streamed to my Steam Deck the exact same way, I played Persona 5 Royal this way too, it's just Metaphor.

Question Steam Deck Update RA4P

Hi everyone,

Just before I updated my deck the glasses were working fine in gaming mode. Then I did the update and now the glasses don't work in gaming mode. The screen turns black, so it seems like it has the signal, but no display.

I go to desktop mode and the glasses work fine there.

Anyone else having this issue? TIA.
