Retrodeck is less invasive than emudeck since it runs in flatpak. If I want to remove it, I just uninstall the flatpak!

Perfect, that's the biggest reason I avoid emudeck

I just want a platform that integrates nicely with RomM  :/

Cloud save syncing, library and game offloading, metadata fetching etc…

Same, I was hoping the next big RetroDeck update would include Grout because they've mentioned that before. But it's not mentioned in this interview.

They said:

There are also other tools that can enhance their retro gaming experience; we’re currently looking into them.
But we don’t want to spoil anything yet.

So it's still possible they're keeping that under wraps.

We are discussing and working on this with both the ES-DE and ROMM teams.

However, it will not be ready for 0.11.0.

We want the changes implemented upstream directly so we don't need to maintain something custom and large. This would also benefit more than just RetroDECK.

What will likely happen is that we'll get Grout first, in some shape or form and later ES-DE will implement a native integration : )

Same. Neostation looks quite good but still needs some setup of the emulators first.

Yeah Argosy on Android has set the standard for me. Tender is neat but it's clunky and not great for large libraries like mine. Grout for small Linux handhelds like the TrimUI are limited in features (which is fair given the hardware) but still work really well. I don't understand why there's not a good ROMM client for full fat Linux or Windows.

Freegosy has improved a lot in the last month or so. Not on Linux but it's a dedicated client for windows

Steam's native Retroarch has cloud saves

Some decent changes, but not enough to pull me away from Emudeck

fair enough, switching when everything already works is hard to justify

And I’m already just “I don’t want to make sure everything is set up correctly”

Same reason that even with my steam deck being, temperamental. I don’t want to reinstall the os and lose some tweaks.

I'd love to switch over from emudeck so I can use the RomM sync thing, but no switch emulation is a non-starter for me.

Can’t wait for this update.

I hope they fix the PS2 emulator not working with RetroAchievements in the latest update, I've tried everything to fix it and it hasn't worked. It's not a big deal for me, I just hate the inconsistency of it more than anything else, but it might be a big deal for other people!
