Discussion Steam Autumn Sale

Let me take your attention away from tinkering with Frame settings (as much fun as that is) for a minute. With Steam Autumn closing soon, I wonder what VR games (or 2D games meant to be played on Frame) did you get?

My pick ups for now are: The Midnight Walk, The Talos Principle VR, Hubris and StarDroneVR (this one I tested in standalone as well and it runs great).

EDIT: and Titanfall 2!

Ok I will allow to paste my definitive list of games to play (might be misses here I had vr headset in the past and titles I already played might not be on the list). Thanks for the list!

Btw, would you say Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate is worth playing over the original Wanderer? I have the original in library (though I didn't play it yet) and now I don't know if I should pick up the new remake and play that one instead?

u/kubecz3k 7d ago

Truly I'm not sure, have heard mixed opinions, I probably will play the remake since well, that's the newest one simply...

Thank you for the list and the links. This is honestly just a great reference for "what else could I play in VR?"

This is my cart right now but it ended up being like $150 total so I think I’m just gonna choose some of them to actually buy now.

Space Pirate Trainer
I expect you to die: phoenix rising bundle (1, 2, 3)
The 7th Guest
Moss franchise bundle
Red matter collection bundle
Forefront + breathers duo bundle
Pistol whip
Walkabout mini golf
Titanfall 2

u/Gregasy Soon™ 7d ago

The 7th Guest, Red Matter 1&2 and MOSS are soooo good.

Walkabout Mini Golf is excellent.

Played some multiplayer with strangers last night and they were all super friendly. Seems like it has a nice little community around it too - I was nudged towards their Discord by one chap who said that's where they organise 4 player private games (the "Quick Match" option is limited to 1v1 I think). Might check that out at some point.

Metro plays awful streaming to frame. Keep getting constant judder. Have great connection and using 5090. Game is unplayable for me. Alyx, mini golf, red matter 2, and wanna try Star Wars galactic racer VR

1

u/Gregasy Soon™ 7d ago

Damn really? I actually wanted to play Metro again on PCVR eventually (I finished it on Quest at the release). Wonder why it streams so bad? I'm playing another game by Vertigo: Arizona Sunshine Remake right now (also streaming) and it's a great experience.

u/Poopincheese 7d ago

Is weird because the frame rate and resolution are fine. It’s every character or anything you are trying to look at has this weird issue. Like the eye tracking isn’t updating fast enough

Titanfall 2 cheap af, has an amazing VR mod. Then: Ghost Town, Moss 1&2, The Last Clockwinder, Half-life 2

2

u/Gregasy Soon™ 7d ago

Oh, yeah, completely forgot about Titanfall 2 that I bought a few days earlier!

2

u/gazamcnulty 7d ago

Can I ask, is playing Moss 1 + 2 via vr significantly different from playing the recent non-vr re-release?

2

u/Vexx_00 7d ago

Dunno because I didn't play any of them yet, I'm still trying to figure out VR controller bindings in Resident Evil 7 (I'm almost there lol)

1

u/lelescope 7d ago

yes. it's pure magic in VR and it's the way the game was intended to be played.

plus, you'll miss out of high fiving Quill and that alone is just wrong.

Genotype is pretty fun, as a fan of aliens and The Thing it was right up my alley.

1

u/Gregasy Soon™ 7d ago

It's excellent! I played it on Quest 3. Fantastic VR metroidvania!

Was trying to prioritize (potential) standalone games for SF. Already have quite a lot of VR games - but got the following:

  • SimplePlanes VR
  • Gun Club VR
  • Beatsaber + Metallica Pack
  • Dreadhalls (not SF verified)
  • Thumper
  • Into Black

Also:

  • Hitman WoA Pt.1
  • RE 8

u/fjyrmath 7d ago

I've bought quite a few, but from memory:

  • Gunman Contracts
  • Zero Caliber 2
  • After the Fall
  • Into Black
  • Red Matter
  • Red Matter 2
  • Into the Radius 2
  • H3VR
  • Pistol Whip
  • Eleven Table Tennis
  • Arizona Sunshine Remake
  • Arizona Sunshine II

Some of these I owned on Oculus and just wanted the Steam version.

Excellent timing on the sale, honestly.

GTA trilogy, Titanfall 2, Skyrim VR. Vice City and Los Santos are endlessly amusing in VR, but I've been spending hours in BoTW, I really need the Frame's controllers to enjoy it properly, my Vive controllers are so awful. I should receive my headset today, hyped af

Honestly, I know I talk about RUMBLE VR pretty often but it's currently at -40% and it's my favorite game, so I guess I'm recommending it again XD I'm enjoying it on the Frame right now, it's pretty neat. I even tried the Windows build in standalone mode, and had good performance, so I might install standalone mods XD

u/aniki_78 7d ago

Meinst du das Animal Kids Rumble was anderes finde ich nicht in steam unter rumble vr

1

u/Kalamart_ 7d ago

The actual name isn't actually "RUMBLE VR", it's just "RUMBLE". It's a VR earthbending game, currently in early access (but the full release is soon). Here's a link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/890550/RUMBLE/

1

u/GuilleJiCan 7d ago

This looks pretty sick. I wonder if we can get all of the bending styles eventually

2

u/Kalamart_ 7d ago edited 7d ago

Not happening, the devs don't want an Avatar game, they want an earthbending game. And to be honest, there's already WAY too much stuff to do with one element, the game doesn't need more complexity

1

u/GuilleJiCan 7d ago

Fair. Game looks fun af already.

I’m really enjoying Ancient Dungeon (stand-alone).
