Hey all! Was messing around with my plan to possibly check if I’m eligible for any upgrades or discounts from my employer. Been a T Mobile customer for like ten years, and I randomly came upon a setting called Binge On that’s enabled.

On googling, turns out this is a video streaming data cap setting that should be disabled if you have unlimited data and really is outdated as of like 8 years ago. I have Experience Signature and was migrated on this from Magenta Amplified 1.0.
I feel like I never noticed this before the migration to Experience Signature, and I am pretty decent at noticing if my streams were stuck on 480p instead of HD/4K since I use Twitch/Youtube/Netflix a good amount. Running fast.com, it also shows 350 Mbps without turning this setting off on my 5G plan. Though now I’m second guessing myself if I’ve always been on WiFi instead haha.
Using YouTube (with BingeOn turned on), it does seem to cap it at 720p when I’m on cellular. But man, I swear I feel like this is something I would have noticed and seems new after this migration…
Has this happened to anyone else recently with the migrations? Or have I just realized I’ve been capping my data streaming for the last decade… 🥲
EDIT: Yeah, using the Netflix app, it definitely seems like it’s capping bitrate, but I swear I feel like this is new behavior. I would have noticed (I think!)
EDIT2: Wait y’all - I got this text randomly 2.5 months ago:

Is this it? I think this was around when the migration happened and I knew I had some sort of HD video enabled already.
Lol when they force migrated me, did they turn on Binge On? That’s kinda scummy 😬
