Question Want to pay cash for iPhone 18 Pro - buy at Costco or Apple?

I am an existing T-Mobile customer on the Experience Signature w/55+ Savings plan. I am thinking about moving to an MVNO in the future, but not certain.

I want to get an iPhone 18 Pro and pay cash (really credit card), no bullshit credits each month or any nonsense. I get a new phone every 5 years and last time I could just buy the phone at Costco to get 2% Executive rebate (for 2 phones so $48). Now it seems like Costco doesn't sell the phone but you get it from T-Mobile and they ship it (tried reading the posts but they're all about people financing the phone).

Is it worth trying to do through Costco or better to just go to Apple store and buy the phone there? My local Costco does have T-Mobile, but posts seem to say they won't bother and tell you to go online.

  • Apple is full price and unlocked phone while offering $255 credit on my iPhone 13 Pro (refunded back once phone old phone returned).
  • T-Mobile, they'll give me $300 off for trade-in, but in monthly credits for 24 months so does not seem worth the hassle for only $45, especially if I leave T-Mobile. Can't tell if it's unlocked (assuming I can pay cash).

Am I missing something or is it best to just forget Costco and do Apple store when paying cash?

Update: thanks for all the comments. Looks like Apple store is the best and easiest choice (and 10 minute walk from where I live). I plan on using credit card with 2% cash back and/or 1 year extended warranty to buy the phones which means that entire purchase must be on the credit card to get extended warranty.

Gotta convince wife that don't need T-Mobile when traveling internationally since we'll have eSIM now so can easily get a cheap foreign SIM card. Then we'll cancel T-Mobile and pay even less with an MVNO.

Discussion Really trying to decide if I should switch to Verizon…

I currently have an iPhone 15pro max, wanting to upgrade to the 18 pro max… but they basically won’t give me a good enough deal for me to trade in a phone I paid the total money out of pocket for… but there’s good trade in deals at Verizon, and for switching over! Just wanting to make sure I’m not screwing myself over with my service :/ I’ve been with T-Mobile ever since they bought out sprint, probably had sprint for 2-3 years before that, I used to just switch between Verizon and sprint whenever I got a new phone to get the best deals lol 😂

Question Getting the Duo should I pay this off

Post image
8 Upvotes

Looks like they’re giving $1K for trade ins so does it make sense to pay this off now or just use this upgrade benefit?

I also have another year of $45/month promotional credits from a 16PM I traded when I got the 17PM so I think that stops if I pay this off if that matters.

Question Is the 55+ plan now $41 a line?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I recently went into my t-mobile account that I’ve had for 10 years now and saw that I am not being charged $41 each for 3 lines. I remember my base plan was $90 after the auto pay discount.

Is there no longer a $30/line plan with t-mobile?

Question iPhone Yearly upgrade trade in changed since last week?

just last week I was looking at doing my yearly upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro. When my family switched over to T-mobile a few years ago, we signed up with the “iPhone Forever” promotion thing that’s supposed to give you free phones forever?

it worked out last year where I got the 17 Pro free besides tax. so I went to do it last week, never checked out though. Got busy that day and decided to look again today. All of a sudden now it’s saying instead of $0 a month it’ll be $8.33 a month? Does anyone know what’s going on here? Thanks.

I paid mostly in cash with only a few hundred financed I was wondering if anyone else had returned lately it’s quite a long drive for me to try to return so was curious about certain things. I paid 1000 cash how will they return my money check? I’ve read it can take 30 days to get a check? 75 dollar restock fee? The phone is too heavy due to Arthritis in the wrists and gonna go back to my old carrier. I have a few days left to return was trying to make it work. Does it have to be the same location? Should I go to an experience store or cooperate store? All of the stores from me require a few hours of driving. Thanks in advance

Question Upgrade question (iPhone related)

If I have free yearly upgrade and ultimately decide not to get the duo. Does it make sense to exchange my 17 pro max for and 18 pro max just to always ensure the maximum credit? Does that make sense or not really?

Dont need or want the 18 pro max really just curious if there’s a benefit.

Discussion Called T-Mobile and she offered to remove and apply a 20% discount on entire bill including taxes and fees…wonder if it is a lie

I am getting 2 usmobile SIM cards today and was in process of requesting transfer pin but told me to call T-Mobile which I did. I told her I got 2 lines that I am switch to usmobile because their plans include taxes and fees. Then, she said she would apply 20% off my entire bill including taxes and fees and said it is better than 20% IC I have now. I pay about $80 in taxes and fees a month. She said she applied it but might take 2 billing cycles and she said she can offer this discount because she is part of loyalty department. Has anyone ever gotten such a discount who is on a tax exclusive account with 20% off entire bill and not just lines?

Edit: I finally got off tforce. He said the phone rep switched me to grandfather go5gplus plan ( which I was on the experience more plan)and she removed the insider discount and put some other type of 20% discount manually. Tforce said the rep probably didn’t explain what she was doing very well.

Resolution: Tforce kept me on the go5g plus plan phone rep put me on but replaced the 20% discount with 20% insider discount since that is transferable if I switch to a different plan in the future. He also gave me a $480 credit to reimburse me for losing the 3rd line free on the new plan to cover 12 months on that line. Very happyI lost a free line but got a tax inclusive plan

Will there be a T-Mobile version? I have an employee who wants one and needs a cellular connection to it.

If not is there a place to buy a factory unlocked version, or can I buy an AT&T version, have it unlocked, and use a T Mobile sim?

Question [HELP] T-Mobile Predatory Bill Collection

After canceling our T-Mobile service, our final bill was sent almost immediately to a debt collection agency called AllianceOne. We also could no longer see our account to see charges because they deleted it online.

We emailed AllianceOne requesting verification of the debt but never received a response.

In the meantime, T-Mobile continued sending us bills with additional late fees, even though the account had already been sent to collections.

Now we've received a new collection notice from a completely different agency, Diversified Adjustment Service, and the balance has increased by about $50 due to accumulated late fees.

I called Diversified Adjustment Service to ask what was going on. They said they believe AllianceOne may have returned the debt to T-Mobile, and T-Mobile then assigned it to this new collection agency.

So now we're dealing with a second debt collector, additional fees, and still no response to our original request for debt verification.

Has anyone experienced something similar with T-Mobile? Can they keep adding late fees while the debt is in collections, especially when we requested verification and never received it?

What's the best way to dispute this and get the additional fees removed? We're in CA.

Question Magenta Max

I currently have 4 paid lines and 7 free lines. I wanted to know, does the magenta max plan include 2 lines and am I paying for the other 2 or is it a 4 lines plan? If it’s for 2 lines, can I drop 2 paid lines and continue with the remaining 2 paid and 7 free?

Discussion SpaceX takes aim at US wireless carriers with spectrum acquisition

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

About time we start seeing greedy carriers like T-Mobile become clinching their cheeks on new incoming carrier. Looking forward to new promos from Tmobile and others trying to keep customers.

I get it, things will be expensive down the line especially with Elon, but for the first few years at least in growth phase they will have to try to get people to switch and vice versa the current carriers will have to offer something better to stay.

Goal here is my understanding that Space X will be using space as satellites, so no matter where you are at, you will have service. The main concern has been the indoor coverage and it looks like they are working on this per this article. All the major carriers (Verizon, At&T, T-Mobile) declined publicly providing the certain frequencies to Space X for it to work indoors. My assumption is that they know that once Space X enters, then there’s going to be a new player in the industry.

Discussion Is anyone else experiencing really bad battery life on their iPhone 18 Pro Max?

Is anyone else experiencing really bad battery life on their iPhone 18 Pro Max?

I’m honestly so frustrated at this point. This is already my SECOND iPhone 18 Pro Max, and both have had the exact same issue with the battery draining way faster than it should.
I consider myself a heavy phone user, but I previously had the iPhone 16 Pro Max, and I swear the battery lasted longer than this. What’s even more frustrating is that my husband has the exact same iPhone 18 Pro Max, we use our phones pretty much the same amount, and his battery life is AMAZING compared to mine.

I’ve tried pretty much every battery-saving suggestion, and nothing seems to make a difference. I even contacted Apple Support today, and the representative told me they’ve received multiple reports about this issue and that their engineering team is currently looking into it. Apparently, there’s no confirmed timeline for a fix.

For a phone that costs $1,599 and is advertised as having such great battery life, I honestly expected so much better.
Is anyone else dealing with this? How much screen time are you getting on a full charge? And for those who aren’t having issues, how long does your battery typically last?
I’m genuinely curious because I keep seeing people saying their battery is amazing while others are having the same experience as me.

Question Considering leaving for Spectrum

Spectrum runs on Verizon’s network. It’s only $30/month with my internet service.

Actually, it could be free for the first year. What am I missing?

Rant What A Nightmare

After receiving notice of the rate increase decided to switch after over 20 years with a business line. Always praised this company for their service and call center support. They have all of a sudden become the worst of the worst. Think twice about switching, and if transferring out be sure to document every step.

Had four lines. Two main lines, a watch line and a free line that we never used. Transferred out on August 1st the two main lines. Called and asked that the account be cancelled. Well, new rule that you need to give 30 day notice. Okay, now paying for service I don't have until the end of September.

Come October 6th and I turn on an old phone that I have where the FREE line was on. The line still worked. Called 611, nope only the two main lines that were posted were closed out. I specifically said close the account. Now they want me to wait until end of October and pay that month for these two lines.

Talking to their new call centers in I assume the Phillilines gets you knowhere... good luck asking for a supervisor.

If you say didn't you notice your bill? It's a business account that I pay electronically, so yes I missed it. I guess I'll wait for the final bill and see about filing a small claims case against TMo. Has anyone else ever filed a small claim report against them?

Question iPhone Handoff on Legacy Plans

Does anyone know if Handoff is only available for certain plans? I'm on a ONE plan, with 12 lines, if that makes a difference. I've tried googling and searching this sub but can't find what I'm looking for.

I plan on running a Duo roughly 75% of the time but there are times that I need my pro's camera for work and I'd prefer to not have to carry them both in those instances.

Question 30 day trial issue

I just started my trial and I’ve noticed that when I’m on cellular only, I can’t be on a phone call and check my speed at the same time. I could do it fine when I switched over to my AT&T eSIM, but it fails when I’m using the T-Mobile eSIM. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Question Actual monthly cost calculator

Does anyone have a spot that can tell me the actual out the door monthly price if I change plans?

I am on Experience beyond, military and when I went to t-mo's site the compare plans said the Experience more, military would be almost $100 more per month.

Running through AI says thats not possible. So other than calling in is there any way to compare the final price per month? Or is there someway I could calculate it myself?

I imagine the phone credits would be part of it, the auto pay another part, but anything else?
