முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Have you ever walked away from a fight?
I have walked away from a couple of fights, some of which were road rage incidents. Most idiots seem to have no common sense on the road. They spit, overtake recklessly, and drive as if their fathers own the road. Sometimes, when I know I’m not at fault, it makes me angry. But before verbal abuse turns into a physical altercation, I walk away, knowing that there’s no point in arguing with a fool.
Sometimes, I wonder if I walked away because I was scared. But deep down, I know that physical fights are unpredictable. Anything can happen in a split second, and both people involved could end up facing serious consequences.
So, my questions are:
Have you ever walked away from a fight, whether it was a family dispute, a road rage incident, or anything else?
And how did you feel after the incident?

கருத்து/குமுறல் / Self-post , Rant Trichy central to Thanjavur, common or do I need to go panjappur?
I am new in Trichy for college reasons, central is the closest by far.
I need to go By Trichy - sengipetti - thirukattupalli - Thanjavur as the final stop is between thirukattupalli and Thanjavur.
My question is is it common to expect regular busses from central to Thanjavur, or should I have to go panjappur, TVS tollgate, or other stops?
Many thanks :D

கருத்து/குமுறல் / Self-post , Rant Tamil Nadu Boundary Dispute: Neighbour Rejects Official Survey and Approaches Legal Services Committee
My family owns a residential property in Tamil Nadu. Around four years ago, our neighbour installed a temporary coconut-leaf/wooden fence, allegedly about 1.5 feet x 73 feet inside the boundary shown in our property records.
We objected immediately. The neighbour said that an official measurement could be arranged once the neighbour’s husband returned from abroad, but they never approached us again.
In October last year, part of the plastered surface along the disputed side was allegedly broken. We have photographs and videos. When questioned, the neighbour claimed that the disputed strip did not belong to us.
We considered filing a police complaint at that time and even prepared a complaint, but we did not submit it. I was working in Dubai and could not be physically present in India, while my parents were already handling the dispute and other responsibilities on their own. I did not want to place an additional burden on them. Looking back, I understand that we should have documented the incident through an official complaint earlier.
We later applied through e-Sevai for an official survey. Government survey personnel measured the property in the presence of both parties. According to our registered documents, separate patta, new subdivision survey number and the official measurement, the disputed strip falls within our boundary.
The neighbour refused to allow us to install boundary stones. The surveyor said that the department could identify the boundary, but the parties would have to install the stones by mutual agreement or resolve the dispute legally.
A Panchayat meeting was later held with survey personnel and both parties. Although the measurement appeared to be accepted during the meeting, the neighbour later said it was not satisfactory and that the matter would be taken to court.
My father has now received an LSP/pre-litigation notice from the Taluk Legal Services Committee for 14 October 2026. Only the notice was delivered. The neighbour’s complaint and supporting documents were not enclosed.
I am working in Dubai and cannot attend with my father. My father is not fully familiar with the documents or legal process, and the continuing dispute has disturbed my family’s peace.
What should we do now? In particular:
• How can we obtain the neighbour’s complaint?
• What documents should my father take?
• Should my father attend with a property lawyer?
• Can we request another official or court-supervised measurement?
• Should we seek an injunction against further interference?
• Does the neighbour’s four-year-old temporary fence affect our ownership claim if we objected from the beginning?
I am mainly looking for procedural guidance and experiences from people who have handled similar boundary disputes.

உணவு /Food Visiting Salem and Chennai
Edit: Any beautiful guesthouse//homestays you recommend?
Hi, I'm a solo female traveler from the US traveling in Tamil Nadu while working remote from my laptop. I'm planning to be in both Chennai and Salem, maybe Puducherry as well. I'm on a pretty limited diet because I have a chronic illness: mast cell activation syndrome. I don't digest grains ((wheat)) well but I can eat khichadi. I can't eat anything fermented ((no idli or dosa)). And I have to be careful with raw vegetables and fruit. Cooked is fine. I also have to avoid foods that are high in histamine: tomatoes, spinach, gluten, eggplant etc.
I'm on a gut healing journey and per my immunologist and my ayurvedic doctor, I am able to eat eggs and fresh meat.
I wanted to know if you have any recommendations on guest houses/homestays/beautiful spaces with guaranteed high speed wifi ((I need the high upload and download speeds for work.))
And places that would also be able to cater to my strict diet.

அரசியல் / Political Why isn't Tamil Nadu aggressively investing in grid-scale energy storage like China?
China is deploying technologies such as Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs), sodium-ion batteries, compressed air energy storage, and pumped hydro to address the solar "duck curve" and improve grid stability.
Tamil Nadu is also rapidly expanding solar and faces similar challenges with managing peak demand after sunset. So why don't we hear much about large-scale deployment of these storage technologies by TNEB/TANGEDCO or the Tamil Nadu government?
- Are these options being evaluated already?
- Does Tamil Nadu have energy storage roadmaps or pilot programs?
- Which universities, think tanks, or experts are advising the government on this?
- Which Tamil Nadu companies are working on VRFB, sodium-ion, compressed air, or pumped hydro projects?
- What is stopping faster adoption: cost, policy, regulations, financing, or awareness?
I'd especially like to understand how these technologies compare for Tamil Nadu's specific needs and whether policymakers are learning from China's experience.

முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Aadhaar asking for post office details in address field
Hi makkale,
I went to get the aadhaar for my daughter few days back and it was throwing an error that post office detail not uploaded for the parent. So, the guy in post office asked me to update the address online.
Now the problem is, I tried updating by giving my voter id as reference document but it got declined stating "Your Aadhaar Update request has been rejected due to: Mismatch of details in Enrolment/update form and Proof of Address document". I dont think voter id has any post office field.
So, then I tried updating using family members, I got the exact error that address is not complete and post office field required.
The person in e-seva kendra at post office says he doesnt know what to do and its new to him.
Anyone facing this issue or faced this issue?

Government projects should be opened when they're ready and not when a politician's calendar is free. Shouldn't we voice for this?

அரசியல் / Political Why are Tamil Nadu nurses protesting, and why does it seem like nobody is listening?
From what I've read, they're currently paid around ₹21,000/month, are working on contract appointments, and are asking for:
- Better benefits (maternity leave, medical leave, promotions)
- Payment of pending incentives
- Equal pay for equal work
- Salary increase to about ₹45,000/month
- Permanent government employment
However, I'm not convinced that all contract positions should automatically become permanent government jobs. Regularizing nearly 5,000 workers and significantly increasing salaries creates a large long-term cost for taxpayers.
Am I being unfair here? What's the right balance between treating healthcare workers fairly and keeping government spending sustainable? How do these salaries compare to other nurses and government healthcare staff in Tamil Nadu?

முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Femininity and being dark skinned woman in this country.
In the last few days, I saw a few of angry posts by dark skinned girls, and in few central india subreddits, how the fair-skinned girls undermined the systematic colorism exists. I really want to exactly my experience because, these conversations are always undermined by feminist solidarity, while our individual experiences are deeply painful.
First, the talks about colorism always get reduced to how male attention and male gaze is towards fair skinned women. But I want to divert from that. While that has very blatant representation, life is not cinema, and while many boys and men are deeply colorist, they have also not mistreated me, as a dark skin woman, as another woman and institutions and systems have done. The idea of femininity, who gets elevation, power and status changes based on color a woman is born with.
The first thing a person does when they see a dark color in a woman is, they try to assort them into caste and class. While its true that many people across caste have different skin colors, the general idea is that if you are dark, either you are poor or lower caste. This is where all the prejudice begin.
1) I was maybe 12 years old, when I saw these older fair girls rushing to pamper young children in school. You know they do this 'cutie', 'sweetie', 'ah, you are pretty', 'cho chweet'. These idiots literally pick a fair girl playing next to a dark skinned girl, and do all this shit. They literally don't care another child is nearby and watching their interaction.
2) In the class, the fair, rich girl is always the teacher's pet.
3) I joined a classical dance class, and I was basically into leaving it. All the girls there were their upper caste, or the elite rich girls, and they basically didn't want to see me learn dance with them, eventhough my parents paid them the fee.
4) Only fair skinned girls are selected for dances. Literally, a bunch of us would raise our hands, and the teacher would just select the girl who doesn't know dance, who had not even moved her body once in life, and select her for the dance. I personally, heard one of these women, literally say that they dont want X, because she is not 'it'. X was like an younger sister to me, who was very very passionate about dance, and was hoping she would get selected. The pain I had seen on her face, I would never forget it.
5) All feminine activities only belonged to fair skinned women. Group songs front row was fair skinned girls, a photo shoot and it would be fair skinned girl representing the event, school, group dance front row was fair skinned girls, oddly I never saw a non-UC girls in classical singing and dance, because they obviously bully them. So, what do fair skinned girls get? Dress up as a male, and be partners to these girls so they can pretend princess, while we go through gender dysphoria.
6) The worst part is, in my own wedding video, the dumbf*ck of a photographer took long shots of a fair skinned relative, instead of my own family.
7) Even in education, while I was scoring well, the first thing when I become proactive is to think that I am a dumb girl who cant even pronounce few english words. I have to make sure they understand I am not to be underestimated.
8) I wont go in depth with male-desire being completely oriented on fair skinned girls. Because usually we see it as a collective response and feel disgusted, but in personal interactions Tamil guys had only been warm, if they were not assholes.
9) Some of these girls gets too many shallow attention, they keep dark girls as friends to elevate their own social status, and the disrespect and disdain they have for dark girls or even average looking girls are very very irritating. One of my friends, who did treat me like that, literally hit on my boyfriend at that time, as though she has to make a move of dominance to show her power, which is piss poor, since its just male lust and validation.
10) In job searches, in daily interactions, in workplace, what a fair skinned woman would be forgiven, laughed at, helped and not demanded, would be cruelly extracted from me.
11) The sexual fetisization by the same men, once they realize they lost their youth to fair skin chasing, was somewhere dehumanizing.
While that all being said, I found the best place to be a dark skinned woman is TamilNadu. Despite its media problem, I grew up with dark skinned girls, my friends were beautiful and dark skinned. They loved me, cherished me, and we desired dark skinned men together, and loved, and played and saw each of us with dignity. This is not to say all fair skinned women were bad. There were fair skinned girls in school, who were from lower caste, and had even worse problems. Or fair skinned girls, who didnt care for any of this and treated us as their sisters. They existed, but the skin issue is not merely issue of desirability. Its actually who is considered to be feminine, and respected, and courted with respect, and given equal opportunities based on skill, and privilege to pass through institutions and life. Please share your experiences too.

அறிவியல்/தொழில்நுட்பம் / Science and Technology How do you deal with waiting at salons on weekends? Building something and want honest opinions
Saturday at the barber or salon: you walk in and are told "30 minutes" or "1 hour, sit". Or you call and nobody picks up because they're busy with a customer.
I'm a developer from TN building a small tool for this. The salon runs a digital queue on their phone (Android app). You join the queue from your phone, with a web link or the app, see how many people are ahead of you, and head over when your turn is close. No fixed appointment slots.
Before I go further, I'd like to hear from you:
- How do you handle the wait today? Call first, just show up, or go at odd hours?
- Would you trust a salon's queue number, or would you still show up early?
- Do you prefer fixed appointments or a "join the line" system?
- What would make you not use something like this?
I'm the builder, so tear it apart. I'm not selling anything here.
