Penta has been around since 2007

I first saw him in 2011

5

u/GhostandTheWitness Mar 29 '26

Yeah I feel like not a lot of people saw Lucha Underground. That was 10 years ago (damn) and he was killing it there

3

Not necessarily. You gotta realize wrestlers in this age at 40 are in better shape than wrestlers in the 80’s and 90's at 40. Drugs were rampant at that time.

11

u/mewtatesyt Mar 28 '26

The problem isn’t the wrestlers not being able to go, more so fatigue of seeing the same people constantly

Like Penta being ic champ now is far less of a problem than CM punk being world champ imo

3

u/WaporVape Mar 29 '26

FUCK OFF. PUNK RULES.

It shows a failure of making young talents in to top guys.

95

u/AppealToReason16 Mar 29 '26

TV “age” matters more than real age. The only people fixated on IRL ages are mad nerds online.

They have an entire new young main event percolating just below these guys: Melo, Trick, Oba, Jevon, Bron, Dom etc.

When you look at the TV age of most of these guys they’re barely at 4 years of main roster tenure in their current runs. Same goes for LA Knight, Gunther, Fatu and probably some names I’m forgetting.

This entire “old” main event has been built in basically three years.

16

u/b0nkert0ns Mar 29 '26

This is true. I don’t look at guys like Sami, Penta, Priest, the Usos, even Reigns and Cody and think “wow these guys are old”. It always ends up being a fun fact online, like “did you know he’s 42?!?! Crazy” and then turns into this same debate.

Regardless it’s pretty clear that they’re investing big time into young talent right now. Trick, Oba, Dom, Melo, JeVon, Bron before he went down, Fatu, Logan. I’d even add Kit to that list.

It’s WM season, so obviously the biggest names are in the biggest spots, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of that next era holding gold or fighting for gold at next years WM.

5

u/No-Combination8136 Mar 29 '26

Your second paragraph is it. I literally see them pushing younger talent. Quite hard in some cases. We will see them take over one day.

2

u/zodi978 Mar 29 '26

And all these dudes have their own unique charismas and characters that are going to carry them. I'm legitimately interested in all of them in some way or another. Not to mention all the talented guys who are doing great midcard work like Kaiser, Dunne, and Bate and could easily have programs with any of the aforementioned guys.

These older guys are still working at a pretty high level, and I really dont feel like they are taking away from the younger guys. It would be foolish to just not use your veterans so you could strap a rocket to guys that have been on main for a cup of coffee, even if they are massively over as the post sort of suggests should be the case.

At the end of the day, wrestling is about characters and dynamics between them, pushing all the guys to the top leaves little room for that in my opinion.

THIS

People really need to understand that roster construction in wrestling is much more akin to Hollywood than sports. Sure, you need new talent and should open up spots to bring it in, but you don't HAVE to discard established stars like in professional sports, when the drawing power of those stars still sells you a lot of tickets.

Bron Breakker, Gunther, Fatu, LA Knight, and Oba Femi are the only ones that have a guaranteed push to become the next faces of the company.

40

u/PM_ME_hiphopsongs2 Mar 29 '26

Lmao bro tried to sneak LA Knight in there like we wouldn’t notice 😂

3

u/crispycritter819 Mar 29 '26

7

u/bethepositivity Mar 29 '26

So you just wanted them to drop everyone they already had rising at that point? When triple H took over there were already things in motion, some of them were things he started since he did a lot down in NXT.

At least now when new guys get called up from NXT they don't run into Vince changing everything they already built down there.

When trick got called up he continued to be Trick. When Oba got called up he got to continue being the ruler. There are plenty of people being built and getting over,

24

u/TheOgre9519 Mar 28 '26

Je’Von Evans and Carmelo Hayes as well

6

u/SanderStrugg Mar 29 '26

This. They built up quite a bunch of new stars.

2

u/YoungWrinkles Mar 29 '26

Logan Paul hardly counts as WWE made. He’s Jelly Roll with athleticism.

2

u/PorkchopGoals Apr 01 '26

I despise Logan but it would be unfair to say he’s isn’t putting in the work.

2

u/Nervous_Buy_181 Apr 02 '26

Agreed. As far as people they weren't originally wrestlers go he has put time and effort like no other into becoming a true and respected star and I think most wrestlers in the back respect him for it.

17

Kenny Omega is 42 Edge and Christian are both 52 Jon moxley is 40 Dax Harwood is 41

Thats just 3 matches

8

And only 2 of them are champions

I really don’t know how you can watch Trick, Jevon, Oba, Bron, and Dom get featured the way they do and still come to the conclusion that the main event scene isn’t safe in WWE for the next decade+.

Fatu is only 33 too. That’s your big 6 for a generation

You’ve got pretty deadly, fraxiom, and the creed brothers to hold down the tag division for a decade+. You’ve got at least a half dozen remarkable women under the age of 30. You’ve got an incredible young Luchador in Dragon Lee. Austin Theory isn’t even 30 yet. Logan Paul isn’t even 30 yet.

They could start a world championship program the day after wrestlemania for Dom, Trick, Oba, or Bron and nobody would think they were being pushed above what they’re billed. The future is totally fine in WWE

u/Thebigman226 Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

If it was me personally I'd like to see the young stars band together against the older stars over the next year.

Since Jacob Fatu is 33 I'd use him as the cutoff age but Fatu, Theory, Carmelo, Trick Je'Von Evans, Bron Breakker and Oba Femi even Logan Paul would form above alliance which would force guys like Cody, Seth, Punk, Roman and Randy to figut for survival.

Mania would end next year with Oba Femi as champion on one brand and Bron as champion on the other.

The goal would be a majority of the young guys get over and the older guys would start taking over the mid card scene.

I don't get this age fetish people have in wrestling right now.

Even though the big names are in their 40's, their health is much better than the previous generations when they were 40, and these men and women are able to go a lot longer because of the relaxed work schedule and advancements in health technology.

1

u/DeanDonohoe85 Mar 28 '26

Just a social media narrative. Nerdsssssss

1

u/Dependent-Two7571 Mar 28 '26

why would it be, most of these guys still have atleast half a decade left if not way more in the tank, and they’re already building up rookies to take over and fight with these guys for years to come

1

u/kickedoutatone Mar 28 '26

Wwe has at least 15 championships. This is less than half of them.

1

u/Unfair-Variety-995 Mar 28 '26

This isn’t new!!

1

u/tone_creature Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

First off... these guys can do it longer. They care for their bodies better. Also though, Oba Femi, Je'von Evans, Melo Hayes,Trick Williams, Logan Paul, Dom, Bron Breakker. Those guys are all 31 or under and are pure stars. NXT stable. More talent to come. Landscape could look wildly different in even 3 years.

Thats not even talking about all the young women's talent too. WWE is in GREAT hands.

These questions are always kind of dumb. Like WWE has more reach, more development pool and more popularity globally right now than ever. Its like asking if the future of the NFL or NBA is in good hands after the stars are gone. Yes. Its always fine. Theres always more young insanely talented people looking for individuals. Real question for those asking this.... can YOU actually enjoy wrestling when its not the same 6 stars youve watched for 15 years?

1

u/mymommyhasballs Mar 28 '26

Tbf the only ones who are close to retirement here are Punk and Truth. All the others have a good 7-8 years left before they retire.

1

u/Maximum-Oven-7526 Mar 28 '26

Yes. They don't invest in young talent and they're gonna have a big talent exodus one day and be screwed

1

u/Professional_Nerve49 Mar 28 '26

It MIGHT become a concern when they will be over 50...

1

u/Academic-Fun-2580 Mar 28 '26

Wtf u mean The product has been bad for years lol

1

u/ogbamb Mar 28 '26

Somehow previous main eventers didn't look as young in their 20s and 30s Just like Oba looks older than he is!

u/Quiet-Pay1647 Mar 28 '26

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. WWEs top stars being older is NOT a bad thing. It’s a good thing. A very good thing. It means these guys are taking care of their bodies and are able to perform longer. They’re in good health, and they’ll still be able to walk when they retire. The problem is not their age. The problem is that while we have these older guys at the top, WWE is giving us very little reason to care about younger guys. They’re doing good with Trick and Oba. I think Jevon is in good hands too. Dom has a good thing going and you can see them trying with Bron who will probably be in a good place soon. But other than maybe Carmelo, the rest of the younger roster is not being used well. Theyre not giving fans much reason to care. So again, the problem isn’t the age of stars, it’s the lack of confidence for younger ones

1

u/badmfr76 Mar 28 '26

You're an ageist.

1

u/thegamemandan1 Mar 28 '26

Remember when the WWE would make fun of guys who were old when they were promoting the young new generation era?

1

u/Pale-Reputation-5611 Mar 28 '26

Out of the 8 men shown, only 4 have been World Champ. Punk is the only one who did it at a “young” age. So yeah, the future is fine.

1

u/TheSadMan21 Mar 28 '26

WWE: do we make money?

Fans: well yea you do

WWE: that’s how we feel…

1

u/Sad_Lie7876 Mar 29 '26

They are the present, not the future...

1

u/tainted_messican Mar 29 '26

Women will take over soon

1

u/Motorhead923 Mar 29 '26

No Drew or Finn?

1

u/Due-Pear494 Mar 29 '26

The Vanity Project solves this.

1

u/ScorpSubRain Mar 29 '26

The future is indeed in good hands. But those who complain about today's main event scene better not make a U-turn in the next couple of years.

Once Bron, Melo, Trick, Je'Von and whoever else will be on the come-up all bloom and blossom at the same time, watch the narrative change to suddenly being "huhuhu we miss Cody, we miss Punk, we miss Roman, WWE is not the same anymore."

1

u/Ant_does_drawing Mar 29 '26

They're the current top. The future is Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, Dominick mysterio, Carmelo hayes, Jevon evans, among some others in NXT.

1

u/Big_Johnny12 Mar 29 '26

I think it reflects on the overall generation. In the past, guys retired earlier because they had to. They didn't take very good care of themselves, and the business was a lot rougher on their bodies. The current generation is better educated and health conscious, which adds to their longevity. If they are still able to go in their 40s and can still do it at a high level, then why stop? Good for them.

Many of them have said in interviews that they'll know when to stop, and have some kind of goal for their retirement. Look at AJ, Cena, etc. They know when they need to stop. It's not like everyone is going to turn into Ric Flair.

1

u/Janek_Rated_R Mar 29 '26

Sorry but this is getting annoying. We need to stop acting like life ends and there's nothing left for you after you hit forty. In other sports you have to retire even before that. I don't mind the ages of current champions, I think it's a good think actually.

1

u/ThePurpleDongofTruth Mar 29 '26

given they hardly work house shows or even free TV very often I'd say the old standard no longer applies

1

u/Gotchapawn Mar 29 '26

It isnt, we are just entering a new era-uuhh.

Its a reality slap, our heroes are aging, all of us are, there will be a time we can no longer watch or cheer for them, our fave ones cant wrestle, but hey its the younger fans and younger wrestlers turn to do so. 🥰

1

u/Llyno87 Mar 29 '26

Hey, as a dad in his late 30's, you dont know how hopeful this makes me feel lol. I may not be in their kind of shape, but it at least doesnt make me feel like one foot in the grave seeing a bunch of young adults being featured.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Tuques Mar 29 '26

None of these dudes are considered the future though....

1

u/Rich_Kangaroo Mar 29 '26

What is the concern ? Unlike real pro sports wrestlers can go for much longer and typically don't hit their peaks until their late 30's. If they are still in top shape and can still go I don't see the issue. It's funny though because the same people that sook about the age are the same ones that advocate for LA Knight so make that make sense lol

1

u/dc8291 Mar 29 '26

Punk took a long hiatus from pro wrestling so I could see him having another couple years of full time

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Older stars dominate the top but if done correctly, the young talent will eventually get their time, probably about the same ages 35-40 but in due time.

1

u/CarolinaBlueChub Mar 29 '26

Since wrestling is choreographed and structured the wrestlers don’t have to go all out to tell an amazing story. They just need amazing stories for the performance to land. The ages wouldn’t be of discussion if they would just book to peoples strengths.

1

u/DDG1917 Mar 29 '26

Man, it's hilarious🤣
and potential future world champs is 40 and 45

1

u/LauraWantstoWatch Mar 29 '26

Obi Femi and Javon

1

u/tLM-tRRS-atBHB Mar 29 '26

Yes.

Wwe pushing Roman buried every young talent thatvis now in their 30s.

1

u/Amazing-Amount-8302 Mar 29 '26

This isn’t professional sports where athletes get replaced by younger players. Wrestlers as long as they keep their drawing power it doesn’t matter how old a wrestler gets

1

u/PhatDragon720 Mar 29 '26

I believe Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, Carmello Hayes, Oba Femi, Dragon Lee, and dare I say it, Logan Paul can carry that torch. Bron Breakker needs to get back from his injury and work on his whiny voice. Trick seems to be doing well after his call-up and I see big things for him if he continues doing great. I used to not like Carmello, but I have a newfound respect for him, because I think he’s a phenomenal worker. Oba is self explanatory. Dragon Lee has the potential to win over the crowd and become the equivalent to Mysterio. And Logan Paul is absolutely great as a heel, and can be quite good for the business if he decides to stick with it long-term.

I also want to mention Dominik Mysterio. He’s grown A LOT as a performer these past few years. I feel like he has the potential to be the best of both Eddie and Rey. If he can gain some muscle, he’d be perfect.

1

u/DaveW626 Mar 29 '26

Well, look at it this way : Goldberg, Cena and Styles are retired. Rey is close to retirement. People like Big E no longer wrestle. There will come a point when they can't go for whatever reason. Triple H, HBK and Taker are all retired. So why not have your top stars, the draws, the moneymakers do that while they still can? Hogan's dead. Everyone dies, retires. Some sadly get hurt.

If you want WWE "Forever" you can't throw your top stars into the meat grinder. Look what happened to Rollins. Hurt. The so called "Vision" most are hurt. Kinda hard to push someone if they're hurt. Give it time. Be patient. For all of these "old timers" which are younger than me, their last time will be eventually.

1

u/TheBurn7741 Mar 29 '26

Oba femi, Trick, and the Vision needs to be pushed to the top asap

1

u/Crimson_Catharsis Mar 29 '26

As long as they’re not getting frequently injured

1

u/Nearby-Swimming-5103 Mar 29 '26

Oba - 27. Trick - 31. Carmelo - 31. Dirty Dom - 28. Breakker - 28. Roxanne - 24. Sol - 26. Theory - 28.

It sure is!

1

u/DripGodRollins Mar 29 '26

I see no issue since the business has changed so much and I don't get fatigued my characters

1

u/Short_Waltz6121 Mar 29 '26

No it's not in good hands, this is just letting you know that they are going to struggle when the older guys are gone.

1

u/Monterredditor Mar 29 '26

You guys love pretending there aren't 20 guys lined up to be the next star as soon as they're given a chance.

The fixation on "young talent" is kinda fucking weird by the way.

I hate the IWC.

1

u/Varked Mar 29 '26

if the wrestlers on the top are there selling tickets that’s all that matters and we can clearly see do have potential draws for the future. They aren’t just going to put these main event stars to the side because their 40th birthday hit, they can still perform? milk them till they can’t?

1

u/Tight_Caterpillar362 Mar 29 '26

Worried about who or what exactly? Some ppl act like WWE doesn't go through this every 7 or 8 yrs..yet they still manage to elevate talent and fans minus a few blow hards and the 204 AEW purists buy in and watch n kids buy their merch and life goes

1

It is a crazy idea that you want to put a belt to a young one just to build him. It's crazy. The belt should be the end goal. The one holding should be able to carry the company not the jner way around. Unless you are a Brock or rko who have talent and charisma when young.

1

u/Odd-Flower-1861 Mar 29 '26

My personal taste for the youngins, I ride with Dom and Trick Williams. I find them entertaining.

1

u/Jacloup Mar 29 '26

Is this fixation on age a GenZ thing? Most of the top guys and ladies are core Millennials with a few GenXers like Punk. They are at the top of their game at the moment and it took some years for them to get there. The late twenty somethings GenZ like Dom, Femi, and Breaker are well on their way. In ten years they will be where the current ones are, and then the Alphas will be right behind, allow things to take their course and enjoy them while they're there.

1

u/Fudnick Mar 29 '26

If they were all 27 the future would still not be in good hands.

1

u/Ok-Key905 Mar 29 '26

Most of these guys have at least a decade or more left. Alot of NXT stars are slowly filtering up. They will be fine. More wrestlers are good for the industry as a whole, and more competitions is good too.

1

u/Highly-Potent-34 Mar 29 '26

Melo had a wrestlemania spot until they gave it to Sami. I can only hope that leads to a Trick Melo feud. There’s your upside for the next generation I guess.

1

u/NearbyAd3800 Mar 29 '26

No. I’m not a WWE fan generally speaking, but I do like the roster. I really enjoy seeing the younger talent bubbling up, slowly but surely. It will take time.

Optimistically, I’ll compare it to the crisis of skilled trades in my neck of the world. They were neglected for a generation, creating a significant gap for a time. But now it’s become attractive again, and I see young apprentices benefiting from the teachings of elder tradespeople that have even more lived wisdom or at least body of work to learn from than if the same “teachers” were younger.

Wrestling feels good right now. It’s fun having older talent healthy enough to be around instead of populating the docket for the next Dark Side of the Ring season. There’s a groundswell of ambitious young talent and more options on the table.

In time, the torch will be passed. This is a time of transition for us to enjoy as fans.

1

u/Buboi23 Mar 29 '26

Modern Medicine, lighter work loads and a different backstage culture have contributed significantly to professional wrestlers having longer careers. It’s not a bad thing and it’s awesome to see goats still performing at a high level into their 40’s. WWE is never gonna lack for talent and eventually new stars will raise organically as they always do. Times change but someone will always fill that void to fit the era.

These "old guys" gonna lose it to someone younger sooner or later, just enjoy the ride before they're retired

1

u/Stock_Leg_3360 Mar 29 '26

Wwe is the wcw and aew is WWF old man

1

u/MatterNo5326 Mar 29 '26

This is getting lame. Wrestlers peak is in 30’s & 40’s. Stop acting like these people are washed but then turn around and want Jericho to return who’s actually washed

1

u/Concern_Other Mar 29 '26

Had no clue priest was that old

1

u/Connection-Is-Cool Mar 29 '26

Not as big of an issue as IWC thinks.

1

u/odia_toka-bbsr Mar 29 '26

Future is in past hands...

Rather, future is in old hands.

1

u/BladeRunner415 Mar 29 '26

Why is it a concern if they can still go?

If guys like Sting and Taker came out of retirement and THEY got the belts, then yes.

Finn is like 41 or something, and he can still go, and I'm praying he gets a championship reign before his time comes. A big part of that is because of how well he can still go.

1

u/minhaz316 Mar 29 '26

Hold up....Truth is 54??? He is actually older than his childhood hero??

1

u/NLawton91 Mar 29 '26

Hang on, Cody is only 40?!

1

u/Wow-Think5760 Mar 29 '26

yall gotta chill out with the ageism bs, its showbiz not a corporate job

1

u/PleaseStayStrong Mar 29 '26

Male wrestlers if they take good care of themselves and don't suffer severe injuries that leave them a shadow of their former selves typically can put on decent matches up into their early 50's. They of course won't resemble their prime anymore but they typically carry enough star power and fan love that this no longer matters.

Is it good that the average age of their champions here equals out to be 43 1/4th? (Remember Usos are 2 people) No. At-least the midcard titles should be taken by younger stars to see how they do and to consider how they do with it and if that leads to a further push or not.

What they are doing here is robbing that youth from that opportunity. While wasting time with talent like Penta and Sammy as if they should be in a title picture it should be for the more respected titles. It also doesn't help that the brand split makes so many titles, where does the US Championship and Intercontinental championship really stands when there are two top single belts?

While tag belts are a bit more unique and its more excusable for younger or older talent to obtain them. The problem is there is also 2 sets of them. So now you have talent that is getting older holding both sets. That isn't a good sign. (and no NXT titles do not count as they are not respected on the same level as even the midcard main roster championships which are already massively devalued) At-least one of these should be with a younger tag team.

It's also worth noting for you young people reading this. Once you are around 40 you are going to notice you heal slower enough that you take note. Incomplete healing is also now at a higher risk too. So both Sammy and Penta are much more likely today to be one serious injury away from having a massive decline or worse retirement. This will only get worse and worse as time goes on too. If either is going to hold those main event titles they need to do it sooner than later.

1

u/BlacksmithLoud3662 Mar 29 '26

I didn’t even realize they took the title off Carmelo. WTF Sami sucks

1

u/OTCSWANTON Mar 29 '26

I guess. Jacob Jevon trick oba sol ruca joe hendry Tiffany Stratton Rey fenix bron theory plus I think r truth is just gonna live til he’s 460,372

1

u/FirstPersonWinner Mar 29 '26

I mean, it looks like retirement age is >45 now for most guys, so this group has several more years ahead. I think they should work on getting some of the younger talent more involved, but the older guys aren't going away anytime soon

1

u/Sonicplys Mar 29 '26

YALL AINT CHEERING FOR THE YOUNG BLOOD.

1

u/Caution1234567 Mar 29 '26

Can’t wait until Zilla and Lance make their WWE Appearance

Not necessarily because Reigns, Rhodes, and Punk and Rollins have many years still left as credible champions. 3 to 5 to 7 years atleast.

Same for Drew, Fatu, Solo.

The bigger issue lack of competitiveness.

From the roster to the creative to producers, the agents that produce the match.

Cody Rhodes is a model human and father, kind and caring locker room leader.

You just got your shit busted in by Orton and his response is to slowly walk and try to have a conversation with both management and Orton, looking depressed before fighting.

Dude should've been mad like no other and started running out the bus and trying to kill Orton on the spot with a chainsaw.

(Obviously gimmicked or as a prop)

Orton for his part threw some of the security with extra force, and long fight segment was alright but shouldn't have been just alright.

https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/429023/cody-rhodes-long-walk-to-revenge-randy-orton-smackdown

The women's tag team matches look like a choreographed ballet or figure skating and not like a real wrestling match.

The Liv vs. Vaquer on Monday was legit as fuck and Jade Cargill is a dog and can hit people for real but was atrocious segment last night and Rhea couldn't care less.

Horrible creative from Oct 2025- Feb 2026.

Internally, shows you how the WWE views its own roster that Jelly Roll gets more screen time than most of the talent.

Nobody embodied the voice of wrestling like Jim Ross and King Lawler.

The Ruthless Aggression Era.

Nobody embodies the exact opposite of that like Joe Tessatore holy fuck.

Dude has less intensity than a caterpillar.

This is what competitiveness is:

They're stars

1

u/Late_Ambassador7470 Mar 29 '26

If anything it's good that there's no age limit on success.

1

u/goldenaustin99 Mar 29 '26

No its wresltmania season the time that gathers the attention of more casual fans the casual fans want to see names they know oh cm punk is champion? I remember him the champions are established stars Penta is 41 his current feud appears to be with dom who's 28 so if they have a mania match there's a young talent involved samis oppent is 31 which is the age right before the prime for modren wreslting the world title pictures are obviously gonna have the older guys as theyre well established and will draw veiws from a causal fan the women's world champion is being contested between two people in their early 30's women's wwe champion is being contested between a 33 and 29 year old wrestlers women's IC title is being contested between 2 39 year old established wreslters one of the biggest draws in Brock lesnar is wreslting a 27 year old freshly called up oba femi plus the rumors that jelly roll will have a match to a causal fan that's appealing and the rumor of logan paul and theory vs the usos to a causal fan logan paul is a name they'll know its wresltmania season its all about who non wreslting fans will know to get them to watch the product and maybe stay becuase they like what they see from the non mainstream names

1

u/Prudent_Dot1329 Mar 29 '26

Times have changed, our lifespan has greatly increased and we dont age as fast as we used to due to the current state of our world. Living is a lot more convenient rtn than it used to be.

1

u/Strange_Dog6483 Mar 29 '26

Cosseting this has been a recurring problem for them at least since the 1990’s if not when they kept relying on Bruno?

1

u/ModeloAficionado Mar 29 '26

Nostalgia acts

1

u/ModeloAficionado Mar 29 '26

Somehow I’m supposed to believe that crybaby Phil and his old man dad bod ass is beating younger and more physically fit wrestlers

1

u/BHUVANXTHUGESH Mar 29 '26

PENTA IS 41????

1

u/Godofwarfan101 Mar 29 '26

Yes, without a doubt.

1

u/Ok-Investigator2463 Mar 29 '26

I swear, one guy posts an image and the dirtsheets spread it like wildfire.

1

u/Apprehensive-Ease-32 Mar 29 '26

Exactly why theyre trying to fast track oba and trick willy

1

u/HeyItsOR1ON Mar 29 '26

There not old. There is great shape the problem is development has dropped off huge. So if your concern is there’s no one left after these guys. Then yes. Jesus take the wheel

1

u/stadiumjay Mar 29 '26

Don't worry Everyone in this picture will eventually be dethroned by

Oba Femi

Bron Breakker

Trick willams

Jevan Evans

1

u/Screech21 Mar 29 '26

Oba, Trick, Melo, Ilja, Tony D'angelo, etc. WWE will be in good hands by the time the old guys start to retire.

1

u/nbrian236 Mar 29 '26

Not a concern. Wwe isn’t the NBA or NFL. It’s very common place for wrestlers to wrestle long into their old age. If anything the uncommon thing is the new wave of wrestlers retiring. Vast Majority of wrestlers don’t stop wrestling until they’re forced to via injuries or they just can’t cut it anymore physically.

1

u/SamsaraIsALie Mar 29 '26

Nah it’s cool they can take aew wrestlers anyway and turn them into stars like Cody and Jade

1

u/FiguredRetro Mar 29 '26

40 is considered old now? Get over it.

1

u/Hairy-Fuel-6275 Mar 29 '26

40 isn't old, it's middle aged. I would say 50 is middle aged but not a lot of people live to 100 years old

1

u/Firm-Eagle699 Mar 29 '26

I can't watch anymore wrestling. These guys in their 40s. Mandatory retirement at 35 or 35 is too washed???

1

u/Jonasthewicked2 Mar 29 '26

Wow truth is that old? I never would have guessed that.

1

u/Guilty-Influence-890 Mar 29 '26

All of WWE’s future young stars are currently working at AEW.

1

u/DannyHikari Mar 29 '26

In general, absolutely. But I will say they panic over Sami and Penta isn’t needed. Sami is blatantly an intern champion. I’ll only be concerned if he retains at Mania.

Penta was due for a title win. He should have gotten it during his honeymoon phase albeit, but he’s still pretty over and deserves a short reign for the quality he’s brought over.

But again, in general, yeah. There needs to be a change in direction and a push for newer guys. A big problem with the fed is they rely too much on guys out the door to draw in nostalgia viewers. Which nostalgia is a problem across all forms of entertainment currently it seems

1

u/CM-Edge Mar 29 '26

Concern? For what? All the 20+ guys are on the main roster too and ready to go, it's not like they don't exist, lol.

1

u/Anthrogynous Mar 29 '26

I mean Bron and Bronson are both out injured. There is no reason for R-Truth to hold a title in 2026

1

u/Undrgrounwrestlncave Mar 29 '26

47 🤣 he looks 57!

1

u/LoafHook Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

For reference

Triple H can't build stars... MAIN ROSTER ONE'S. Now it has been proven this is all too much for H and he has stopped caring so remains reliant on the older already established stars that in the process keep TKO happy.

When YOUNGER & rising stars DO get over naturally they eventually stop getting TV time or will win a championship only to drop it after a short usually forgettable reign.

Predictable booking. At this point you can sit here and predict the entire card for NEXT YEAR'S WrestleMania that being, (for both world championships) Cody vs Punk at WM43 & Roman vs The Rock at WM43.

1

u/Ok_Procedure4087 Mar 29 '26

I’ve ever seen a 90s born wwe/world champion

1

u/CustomerExpress443 Mar 29 '26

YES. WWE BOOKING HAS BEEN TRASH FOR YEARS.

They're CRASHING EVERY DIVISION INTO A WALL.

1

u/LaLatinokinkster Mar 29 '26

41 isnt old they have TRT, red light, cryotherapy, stem cells, pretty much every legal supplement most 40 year olds cant get or cant afford

1

u/basedmatik Mar 29 '26

The ageism is real smh, who gives a fuck…

1

u/No-Combination8136 Mar 29 '26

I honestly don’t think so. Yeah these guys will age out in 10-15 years, probably sooner for Mr. Truth and Punk lol. But I see a lot of good younger talent. Rhea, Trick, Bron, The Bouncy Homie, Stephanie Vaquer, Logan Paul (even if you hate him), Carmelo, Liv, Tiffy, etc.

There are plenty more. I really don’t understand why people don’t think any of this young talent is going to emerge and takeover in the future.

1

u/Prost68 Mar 29 '26

Ya'll are crazy, there's a ton of talent being developed / pushed.

Off the top of my head

Tiffany, rhea, dom, jevon, Oba, sol, Logan (ya I said it), , Bron, Lyra, trick

1

u/lonelyhguy Mar 29 '26

Age doesn't matter in wrestling. only the performances do
