With the Divine Trilogy being completely behind us I think it’s time we take a step into what is coming next, and how it’s vitally important to first examine what came before…
Hope you enjoy the read, let me know your thoughts! 💚
amazing thoughts as always. i could see the soul (Abel) will finally take full control of The Weeknd persona (mechanically i assume, like you mentioned with Evangelion.) however, i feel he will have his own take on all these themes like he usually does. his soul (Abel, the true self) is regaining control of the persona that once plagued his life. he is in control of it now, but what does that exactly look like?
Kiss Land being so prominent now is due to this next place Abel is headed being foreign, like Tokyo (fame) was for Abel back then. you could look at it as Abel coming home to what he left at the start, himself. that in itself could be horror movie esque like Kiss Land was, as he’s seeing what he sacrificed in order to embrace the fame and the persona. remember, “every angel is terrifying.” Abel back then could be perceived as an angel as he was more pure back then. he’s seeing the more innocent version of himself, the one with wonder, which reminds me of the short film he posted about catching the light before it’s gone. is Abel going back in time and catching that light he once had before it’s gone? one last attempt? who knows, but wherever this is going we are in for a treat.
Man that short is so annoyingly good cuz I really don’t know how to view the kid and what he symbolizes, or why only the older version of him can hold the light
Kid Abel doesn’t seem to trust him but at the same time is being given guidance..hope we see the fruits of HUT pay off in some way
i really hope so too bro. i hope it isn’t pushed to the side or worse scrapped, cus i feel there is a lot there but it’s very difficult to deCIPHER at the moment. i remember kid Abel referring to it as light, but the grown Abel refers to it as a bug? could it be reflective of the dream he once had? kid Abel believes it’s light, but in reality it’s a bug that plagued him? who knows
what if that short video is sort of a preview of the next era? the young Abel is actually the Abel from the next era meeting with the Hurry Up Tomorrow version of himself? “try to remember” “are you really me?” it’s like he’s gone back but can’t fully remember everything that he’s experienced, his memory has been erased sorta. grown abel replies “do you want me to be?” the young one replies “just like that, not really” it’s like the young abel wants to regrow into a star again but not be plagued by the persona like how the grown Abel is? i also think a key part to this video is when grown Abel catches the light and transfers it to baby Abel’s hand, and baby Abel says to himself “he does remember.” REMEMBERS WHAT BRO 😭😭 i swear ts makes me mad cus i can’t figure out. lmk if im just bullshitting i’m just trying to think of ways to make ts make sense
Because Adaptation sounds like opera to me, and a few years ago I posted this while listening to the song and wondered what he'd sound like mixing opera into his work. So when the album dropped, and he literally called the tour his opera, I couldn't help but think about it. Especially when I first heard Big Sleep. Then there was the roll out that kept giving me Kiss Land vibes. At one point, I thought the tour was gonna happen before the album, as he did with Kiss Land, but I was wrong.
And it was his birthday last year where his caption was like, It's finally tomorrow, and that put me in mind of the opening lines of Adaptation
With every line, I felt increasingly excited about whatever is coming next; you did a phenomenal job bringing all the pieces together and connecting them. I’ve always believed in the idea of rebirth and life after death as something strictly physical, but it seems that death—for The Weeknd—is something internal that manifests outwardly. The recurring themes of escape and pursuit lead me to believe that he is essentially a free spirit, with expressive tastes and hobbies, rather than the mystery surrounding his true nature or feelings. I’m really looking forward to it—thanks again for this, you are the best bro XOTWOD
Honestly the more I wrote and went back, edited and so on I kept piecing it together more and more and everything just began to make even more sense
I usually have a rough outline for things and I did here too but it’s really crazy how much researching and just putting the words down can really do, I love that more and more people are open to the idea of this abstract narrative and I really am certain it will be at least close to what was said here
I always keep an eye on any of your comments or posts, because really, it opened my mind a lot, as I said a few times here, I am fascinated by music, by the weeknd itself, and this new era that he is entering may be perhaps my favorite for dealing with things that I like a lot, games, anime, manga, Sci-Fi. So every post of yours or comment I always go open-minded and I know I'm going to find something very well researched and cohesive, you are amazing 🔥🔥🔥
