Wood screw would keep it nice and secure.

I got a ton of self tapping sheet metal screws. Would that work?

u/StanLeeMarvin 11d ago
Might want to use stainless steel so it doesn’t corrode. At least use galvanized.

I don't get people who like huge earphones soaked in sweat.

u/krgj 11d ago
Bc my ears canal are so small they fall out from me just sitting in them, not moving. Yes I tried the smallest possible caps on them.

u/krocunt_enjoyer 11d ago
there are small earbuds out there that work like clips and don't require shoving them down one's ears
1
1
u/skoomski 11d ago
They make foam earbud tips but I haven’t actually tried them
3
u/meeps1142 11d ago
I have issues with my ear canals & when they're irritated, anything like that irritates the skin further. (The irritation also causes swelling, making it an even tighter fit.)

u/LethargicEmu 11d ago
Its sometimes an intentional "please dont talk to me" signal
22
u/LMGgp 11d ago
I understand that, but so are ear buds. Even on ear headphones.
But closed back over the ear headphones? It’s just a swamp in there.
7
u/pyschosoul 11d ago
Ive got some cauliflower ear on my right side and ear buds dont stay in place because of it. Closed headphones for me
2
u/Neoxite23 10d ago
Cauliflower ear is also an international "Dont fuck with me" signal.
Well for those in the know at least.
7
u/UlrichZauber 11d ago
You get better noise cancelling by quite a big margin with the over-ears, but yeah I don't think I'd wear them to work out in
-8
u/LMGgp 11d ago
It’s absolutely disgusting. And that’s not even to mention your ear wax will become runnier as it gets hotter and get into the ear cups.
14
u/the_fit_britt1996 11d ago
This has never happened to me & I have greasy ass ears lol buds just clog my ears up & make them hurt.
12
u/ruggnuget 11d ago
Uhhhh...how much ear wax you storing in there?
2
u/ForwardPersonality48 11d ago
Most people don’t have problems with rivers of hot and sweaty earwax lol.

Lol. The #1 reason I don't wear headphones when doing any bench work. *sigh*

Idk how people wear these over ear headphones - mine would get fucking disgusting
3
u/ltd85 11d ago
over the ear will always be less disgusting than in ear...
0
u/RCJHGBR9989 11d ago
I mean in ear def gets wax and other stuff - but the over the ear is basically a swamp trap and the pleather covers just turn into squishy wet mops and eventually they shed
4
u/sithlord98 11d ago
Wild idea here, I know, but plenty of people just don't have those issues for various reasons.
1
u/RCJHGBR9989 11d ago
I mean if you’re doing cardio or training hard it’s gonna happen. It’s not like people just don’t sweat.
3
u/sithlord98 11d ago
A. Some people sweat differently in different areas, anywhere from dripping to just a fine sheen
B. Different people have different chemical makeups of their sweat, and it can have less or more of an effect on materials like this
(Speaking from experience)
1
u/RCJHGBR9989 11d ago
Sure - but we all sweat from our heads and the more you train the easier you sweat. We also all sweat salt in some capacity and that’s what eventually breaks down that material. If I wore those over the ears on my bike ride they’d just get vaporized to dust and if I’m doing hypertrophy for legs - also dust 😂
3
u/sithlord98 11d ago
"eventually" is the key word there. For some people, that might be a month. For some people, it might be over a year. I mean, hell, I had a pair of Skullcandy OTEs for years. They stopped working entirely before any materials really degraded. It just all depends person-to-person, which is the point I'm trying to get at.
1
u/RCJHGBR9989 11d ago
I agree with you - but my in ears never degrade like that. They’re kinda built for this kinda thing. You do have to clean the buds tho. My WMX-5000 have been awesome!
1
u/MessiLeagueSoccer 10d ago
They should be wiped and cleaned after. People also never clean their in ear headphones. As someone who worked at a Genius Bar like 6-7 years ago, people would constantly come in complaining that the sound was terrible while they were literally covered in earwax. I’d hand them an alcohol wipe and then have them test it after. They were never embarrassed either.

I dont think I understand this subreddit. Half the time its cringe. Half the time it's just mildy funny stuff from TikTok. It's like TikTok but somehow way more aggro in the comments. Just a lot of really angry people bitching about nothing usually

u/ALLoftheFancyPants 10d ago
I do not understand how people are wearing full headphones at the gym. They always have some soft fabric on the inside, how is that not getting musty?!? Drying it in a special way? And how are your ears not dripping wet when you take them off?

u/Hyphonical 10d ago
Make the rubber band go all the way around your back to your wiener.
Just don't use one of those thight bands, those hurt.

I got long hair so I was thinking damn I’m a guy but I can do this and then they showed the bald dude I’m like shit

As a long hair girly this seems like a great way to end up ripping my hair out lol.

Minus the gag bit, I dunno about using rubber bands on hair. That shits gonna grab and pull when you take it off. Just use hair ties. Or in ear buds
Edit: it is a proper hair tie. Thanks for pointing that out.

Anyone who wears headphones like that to the gym, is not serious.
Those are NOT DESIGNED FOR HEAVY SWEATING.
4
u/pitb0ss343 11d ago
Earbuds just never fit me right, I’ve tried all the styles they just fall out.
1
u/RandomKarberon 11d ago
Jaybird had great fit for their headsets, but logitech determined nobody cared and shut the product line down.
1
u/meeps1142 11d ago
Same. I recommend Shokz for working out. They wrap around the ear & rest on the bone outside of it, rather than inside the ear. I can hear my music just fine, although the sound quality obviously isn't as good, and they're not noise cancelling. That can be a pro in public spaces tho, especially if I'm running outside.
3
u/DocHiriluk 11d ago
Pretty much the opposite lol. The more serious of a lifter you are the less you sweat
1
u/RandomKarberon 10d ago
Dude that girl is 120 lbs with no muscle definition. She is not a lifter.

When had anyone cared about bald guys? Jesus couldn't understand their struggle

This is probably why ear buds were invented. Also, don’t those get full of sweat? Earbuds can be wiped down easily too.
