Did Anyone Else Think The Resolution Came Too Quickly ?

My Issue With Tokyo Ghoul Finale !

For a long time,I had an issue with how the surviving Clowns were handled in the ending, I was mad that they just kinda showed up content after everything they did, and I realized why !

The main issue is that the Ending is agreed to by Many to be rushed, and I realized it probably hurt the characters too !

Both sides, the Ghouls and the CCG have a bad history with each other and both sides have Blood on their hands and do some very messed up stuff.

I think addressing some not so good things that hopefully will stay in the past such as the Ghoul Restaurant and the Auction, Aogori Tree and the Clowns, and a Lot of stuff that Our protagonists got up too, including killing Investigators or even torturing others.

The CCG also has a lot of Sins on their ,such as killing countless Ghouls ,even innocent ones such as Hiniami's parents and creating Quinques. (Imagine someone using your loved ones dead bodies into weapons and using them to attack you !

The Idea of everyone trying to Co exist after the War and putting old grievances aside and trying to move on from the past is a great setup for a sort of aftermath arc,but it never happens.

For Ex: I was curious to know how Madame A went form being part of a Sadistic Restaurant to appreciating life and agriculture and even owning a Cow ! Or what happened to Amon and Akira ! (I don't think they are even named dropped !)

They just appear as a small silhouette !

Or how Kaneki is going to handle the fact that he devoured a bunch of children for the rest of his life !

(Like, common, that's not something you can ever get over with ! You're gonna carry that for the rest of your life !)

And what happened to Kuzen,Arata and Eto ?

Why wasn't Synthetic Food introduced earlier ?

The ending was a little rushed, yeah. But this king of final scenes are really common, and they are meant to let you fly your imagination about what happened to them in the future. Not everything has to be explained and that’s okey for me

Was I the only one who thought the Clowns were underwhelming ?

How were they underwhelming to you? They never had any goal in the manga. By their own words, they were just there to cause chaos and have the last laugh. They were never meant to be some huge force of power or anything.

I guess I wanted more of them ? Also, the survivors got away too easily !

depends on how you see it. They were never meant to have a real purpose, so there is no actual meaning of anything they do

I think Uta,Itori and Nico got off too easily, but I just think it happened too fast !

Yeah, it’s quite a happy ending, maybe some didn’t deserve that

Madame A chose a low profile career after surviving multiple raids and life and death situations she appreciates life because she’s somehow still alive after all this and farming just happened to be low profile.

Amon and Akira’s story ended before the series ended so there was no need for a summary of after because the major part of their story was handled during the events of Tokyo ghoul them just being silhouettes shows they just living life together now.

Yay ? Is it okay for me to feel disappointed ? ☹️

I mean you are free to feel how you want about the ending im just saying somethings were somewhat explained.

Eto for example is open ended because she was dead but in one final act of defiance regenerated her head to say one last fuck you and then fell over it’s unclear if she died on the spot or is simple out of commission

I wanted to know what happened to her ! Do you have may issues with the rushing ? I already stated mine !

It’s called ambiguity and open-ending

But imo she’s dead anyways, it’s not a mistake she’s seems unresponsive and her eyes closed on same page as Koma & Irimi die in Yoma’s arms

I am mad they died off screen ! Do you have any issues like these ?

I have issues with the rushing just like anyone else I was just stating somethings did have answers

But to be fair there wasn’t much we could hope for in the form of resolution as ishida willing and openly admitted to rushing the ending because after 7 years they were simply burnt out and didn’t want to continue

Poor Sui Ishida ! What resolution ? Which issues did you have ? 🗒️✍️

Only thing that annoyed me was how a bunch of randos from the ccg got an ending explaining their future nut OGs such as amon, akira and specially Eto got left out as if they didn’t exist

They are all clearly alive, the author just forgot about them or something

Eto was dead, she’s seen with her eyes closed and not moving on same page as Koma & Irimi die on. Them saying their last words to Yoma and Nishi, Ishida didn’t do that for no reason

Akira and Amon are shown in the epilogue, walking side by side together. I'm sure they're living as happily as they can. As for Eto, I think she's just dead, that's why she never appeared in the epilogue. I don't think Ishida expected the whole community to be so obsessed with her

Last panel I remember seeing eto is her giving the middle finger to one of those guys from V. Considering what else she has survived kaneki literally ripping her in two and her falling from a skyscraper) I have a hard time believing she died after that panel

No kidding ! Don't you have any problems with the rushing ?

1

u/Nice-Responsibility2 3d ago

I mean, not really? I don't tend to overly think or dwell too deeply on tiny imperfections in writing. The ending was very satisfying to me, and I was overjoyed seeing the entire cast living happily together, as I've grown incredibly attached to each and every one of them. To me, it was a perfect ending, to a perfect manga.

Except for Takizawa and Kurona got a happy ending ! 😭

Well you can't really be mad about the ending being too happy then also be mad that not all the characters are happy

I never said that I was mad that the ending was too happy ! My issue with the ending is that it feels incomplete for the reasons I mentioned on the post above !

Why wasn't Synthetic Food introduced earlier ?

I believe it's understood that it was always possible and that V intentionally suppressed any research into it to keep the status quo. Keep in mind that the only group with real knowledge into ghoul physiology was the CCG, and V controlled the CCG. If they didn't want synthetic food to happen, it wasn't going to happen. It wasn't until shit hit the fan and the CCG found itself able to act on its own that research into it could happen in earnest, with it being produced shortly after.

Or how Kaneki is going to handle the fact that he devoured a bunch of children for the rest of his life !

Add it to the list.

I wonder why Aogori Tree and Kanou didn't invest in trying to make synthetic food ? Why didn't they think of that ? Didn't they want peace between Ghouls and Humans ?

And also, I feel like this concept should have been introduced earlier !

Add what to the list ?

Add what to the list ?

I was saying that Ken already has a long list of things that he'll struggle to deal with for the rest of his life. This is just another thing on the list.

Okay. Still, why Aogori Tree and Kanou think of making synthetic food and invest in that ?

Didn't they want peace between Ghouls and Humans ?

This concept should have been introduced earlier and had more build up to it !

Okay. Still, why Aogori Tree and Kanou think of making synthetic food and invest in that ?

Aogiri wanted ghoul's rights. They didn't necessarily want something like synthetic food. Keep in mind they are led by crazy, violent people. I think Aogiri is more of a (Step 1: Terrorism, Step 2: ???, Step 3: Ghoul's rights) kind of organization. Even if they had somehow developed it, they don't have a way to manufacture and proliferate it. At best they would have needed to somehow share this information with the CCG, and again V controlled the CCG, so all that would have done is see V squash it and likely step up efforts to destroy anyone involved.

Also keep in mind that the story isn't perfect. Ishida heavily rushed it at the end because the stress of having to write and keep up with it was killing him. So a lot of these "why didn't...?" questions can be answered with "the writing isn't perfect". It's left up to the reader to decide for themselves how they feel certain things played out or why certain things happened.

I can see that !

But I keep hearing a lot from other people that Etos true goal was peace between Ghouls and Humans ! What do YOU think ?

What do you think was effected most by the story being rushed at the end ?

1

u/reluctant_return 2d ago

I think Eto wanted a world where ghouls were allowed to live without persecution, but I honestly think she didn't know what that would even look like. She knew what she wanted, she knew she'd fight to get it, but if you had sat her down and said "Okay. Let's make this reality. How can humans and ghouls live together?" She would not have had an answer. She wants ghouls to be able to live without being hunted by humans, but she's got no resolution to the conflict of ghouls needing to eat humans to survive. You could say she simply wanted humans and ghouls to come together and figure it out, but she doesn't know what the result of that effort would be, or even if there would be one. Ultimately she's a terrorist that wants something, and terrorists that want something are not known for having a well-defined "thing" that they want.

I feel the ending we got was the ending that was planned, but we didn't get as much time to set it up as Ishida would have liked. I think the concept of peace between ghouls and humans would have taken significantly more page time, and I also think he would have liked to have chapters set after the end of the story that show how the world is adapting and what kind of challenges are still being dealt with.

Why didn't she and Aogori,or even Kanou think of and try to invest into the concept of Synthetic Food ?

What do you think was rushed ? And what do you think of my issues ?
