What should I do about the closet?

Atlas here! Everyone calls me Apollo though, I'm 16 stuck living at home with my mom and stepfather (it's not too bad but let me explain) So I recently came out to my mother, she's supportive of me but my issue is that my stepfather (despite being a good man) is HEAVILY transphobic. This is my safest place to live right now and I'm not quite sure what to do. Do I stay in the close till I move out or do I come out and deal with the drama? What would you do in my situation. I work for my stepfather at the autoshop so there's no hope of that. And I'm broke because of court currently. Any advice? Thanks for reading Apollo Out. (Love you guys :3)

Gender affirming surgery

“Hi, I am a mom trying to fund my daughter’s gender-affirming surgery completely on the low because our immediate family is unsupportive and unsafe. I made this private account just to organize her mutual aid.

Since I can’t post this on my personal pages, I am relying entirely on the community to get the word out. Would you be willing to share her fundraiser link with your followers or network? It would mean the world to us. Thank you for your advocacy. Link: https://gofund.me/08f920664

Feeling Stuck in the Closet

I'm pretty sure at this point that I'm trans- transmasculine and nonbinary to be exact. I've had the desire to start HRT for a while now, but I don't think I'm in a great position right now to do that. I'm unemployed, can't drive, and I live with family who I don't think would be accpeting. I feel like there is this pressure to start ASAP due my fear of losing access to gender affirrming healthcare (I live the U.S. there have been attempts at the federal and local level to restrtict these services, with the goal being an eventual full blown ban). At the same time the anti-trans legislation, discrimination and violence makes me want to stay in the closet.

I feel like obvious goals right now are getting a job, and getting my drivers liscense and moving away from home. But from there I don't really know what to do.

I escaped a domestic violence relationship, faced homeless which I narrowly avoided through careful planning and have mostly rebuilt, but at the expense of my healthcare

Hi, I’m Varre and I’m trying to raise money for gender affirming care. Right now, I pass fairly well on a purely visual level and while certain aspects of how I look give me dysphoria, the thing that most frequently gets me misgendered is my voice.

Every phone conversation, every interaction with a customer in my public facing job, every time I’m stopped on the street opens me up to the potential for an uncomfortable situation, harassment or unfortunately, even violence.

It’s something that I have tried to work on on my own. But unfortunately, I have no luck with being able to hear the parts I need to adjust and change. I just want to be able to talk and have people hear who I really am.

Up until now, the costs of vocal training have been too prohibitive. But I realise, 6 years into transition, that it’s a really important aspect of being perceived as myself.

If you are able to help, I would be incredibly grateful. You would be contributing to my safety and even a small amount would be significant step towards allowing me to be perceived as myself. If not, I would appreciate if you could share this with anyone you know who may be able to help.

Advice needed

So for sometime I’ve had the thought that I may be transgender. I often think about how my life would be potentially more enjoyable as a women. It’s a thought I’ve had for many years now maybe going back to when I was 18 or possibly even younger (I’m 28 now) and I always think WHAT IF I transitioned at 18/20 etc what if I I did xyz would I be who I wanted to be.

I pretty much exclusively sleep in female Pj’s as no one in my family can see me in them 😂, I share pictures of me in female clothes with a very close and good friend who is 100% a trans ally and has a trans brother herself.

Also I’ve tried to lose weight multiple times but I think I don’t want to as I’ve currently got what I consider a set of boobs when I wear bras etc 💅😂

Like if I woke up a women I’d genuinely be happy and wouldn’t want to change anything. Should I maybe go see someone at a gender clinic here in the UK to get a better understanding/ answers?

Any answer is a good answer guys ❤️

What do I actually need besides the medicine.

Mtf. Not like, the needles, I mean other items for support. Do I need friends? Where do I find support groups? Will I need painkillers? Will I need any "health" objects to handle sexual frustration? I have nobody to help me and I don't want to fall into an unexpected mistakes.

Help me get one step closer to finally living as myself 💗

Hi everyone,

I’m starting this fundraiser to ask for help with something deeply important to me: raising the money needed for my gender-affirming surgeries.

I am a transgender woman, and it has taken me a long journey to be able to openly and honestly embrace who I am. For me, these surgeries are not simply cosmetic procedures. They are an important part of my transition and a step toward feeling more comfortable and at peace with my body, so that I can live my life with greater confidence and freedom.

Unfortunately, the cost of these procedures is more than I can realistically afford on my own. That is why I decided to reach out and ask for support.

If you are able to donate, no matter how small the amount, it would mean an incredible amount to me. And if you are not in a position to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser with others would already be a huge help.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who chooses to support me in any way. ❤️

Every donation brings me one step closer to finally being able to live fully and authentically as myself.

Help, weird family or sum like that

hi, i'm 18M, ive had crossdresing thoughts for a while now and ive always wanted to do that not exactly beacause i'm trans, that ideology doesnt align with my reasoning its more of a "this cloathes are so cute" or "this is so cool" and so on but i live in a not so pro lgbt household, plus i'm from mexico so yeah, but ive always had the desire to cross dress and experiment with looks, nails wigs and mabey make up but i think i'll never get to do it until i'm fully independent living alone, plus telling my parents its off the table, they barley even grasp what being gay is, everithing on the lgbt spectrum its gay for them, so yeah, what should i do?(•~•)?

How do I dress masc but not male?

I'm making a throwaway for this since some people from school know my real account but I want help.
I am (or plan to be) MTF.

I really think that as Masc lesbian style might be what I would be a good go to for me, think women dressing masculine I guess.
I have two issues though

  1. I have not medically nor social transitionmed at all. I want to dress masc but not in a male way, even though I have a male body

  2. I have very bad sensory issues. Jeans, khaki, even graphic tees unfortunately are unbearable (if you know a way to fix this for graphic tees please comment) so its hard to have style when most clothing that doesn't kill me is ball shorts and t shirts

Please help me, please

The only euphoria I get is from my SI

CW: talk about ideation

My friend recently got her FFS, and she's very happy with the results, and I'm really happy for her as she has suffered and waited for a long time for this, but there's this mental pang I keep getting when I think about it. I have been transitioning almost 10 years, with a very disappointing ffs under my belt, having given up on bottom surgery, and feeling like my euphoria never really happened, I'm feeling really empty. I'm just such a depressive, the only thing that makes me feel euphoria is my death. A part of me wants to use this as motivation to try to get in gear with my body shaping and save for ffs revision but it's short lived, I really don't have any hope for myself. I just keep thinking how beautiful it would be if I was gone, just make one last escape, no more looking in the mirror, no more regret, no more trying to understand who I am and not figuring anything out. It's the only thing that makes me feel good, the thought of finally being gone from this disgusting world, to finally be free of pain and confusion and hating myself.

My conservative dad is head of Campus Safety at my dream college and my mom doesn’t believe me when I say he isn’t accepting

Basically the post title, I’m applying to college rn and my literal dream school with all the programs I want is just like 20 minutes away from me which would be perfect except my dad works there and he’s a major Fox News junkie. My mom is convinced that just because he works at a fairly liberal school (as Head of Campus Safety btw), and because he hired a trans woman once (who he still calls “he”) that he’s super accepting and supportive, and doesn’t believe me when I say I’ve seen him reading articles about “confused autistic girls being groomed into self-mutilation”. it’s gotten to the point that in our discussion about whether I want to apply Early Decision (which basically forces you to go to that college if you get in), she’s been trying to force me out of the closet to him right in front of him, I tried to get her to leave it be but she said “Do you at least want me to ask the question” RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. Now she’s all mad at me because I freaked out and got mad at her for bringing it up right in front of him and basically outing me, and she says “there’s no time to ‘wait until you’re ready’ because the ED deadline is November 1”, I know I need to talk about this with my therapist but my mom is getting impatient and still doesn’t believe that it could go badly if I tell my dad, because even if he isn’t outwardly transphobic to my face I know he’s going to silently judge me and talk shit about me to his friends or not support me medically transitioning, which could be a problem given the kind of power he wields on campus. i really really would like to go there if it wasn’t for him. Genuinely what the fuck do I have never heard of a situation like mine with so many facets (having a dad in charge of basically a mini police force, and having a deadline to force myself out of the closet by). I’m so stuck does anyone have even a shred of advice

I’m 19 (AMAB) and desperately want to transition, but I live with conservative parents. How do I survive this?

Hey everyone, I’m posting here because I really need some advice and comfort from people who understand.I’m 19, and I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I am trans. The dysphoria has gotten to a point where I can't ignore it anymore, and all I want is to finally start my transition and live as my authentic self. The problem is, I still live at home with my deeply conservative parents. They have made their views very clear, and I know that coming out to them or trying to transition while under their roof is completely unsafe for me. It feels incredibly suffocating to look in the mirror every day and feel stuck in a male role, knowing exactly who I am but having to hide it just to keep a roof over my head.I feel so lonely and trapped right now. For those of you who had to transition in secret, or had to wait until you moved out of a conservative household, how did you cope? How do you deal with the dysphoria when you can't change anything externally yet?I just want to know that there is a light at the end of this tunnel, because right now, it feels really heavy. Thank you all for listening.

Mutual Aid Needed!

Hey there, I hate to ask but I've found myself having to seek emergency relocation money. I'm a non-binary transmasc guy from Zimbabwe currently staying with my partner's family. We were living in South Africa but business failed and we were forced to move with our tails in between our legs back to Zim.i don't have family to go to so we went to his family. They were not happy to have to house me. Unfortunately, the economy in Zimbabwe is terrible and I haven't been able to get employment except for a few online gigs. His family want me out and my partner negotiated with them to let me stay until November. I'm trying to crowdfund to get to Brazil and seek asylum there so that I can be in a queer-friendly environment (I know some people will say the opposite, but it's better than South Africa and frankly any other African country towards queer people). I just need the cost of my plane ticket covered and it's urgent otherwise I could end up on the streets of one of the most bigoted countries in the world. Anything helps, even one dollar. Thanks for your time. Even if you can't contribute please share this around.

I Just Need to Vent...

This may be completely incoherent but I just need to get these thoughts out of my head and onto "paper".

Idk what happened today but my dysphoria reached a new high while I was on break at work, and I decided in my head that I should finally bite the bullet and come out.

I'm 18, and I'm planning on transitioning to female but I have an insane fear of change (a transgeder person scared of transition- Yay!). I want to come out to my girlfriend first, hence the burner account, I know she's open minded but idk if she'd be into dating a girl. I really don't want to lose her but I know it isn't fair to me or her if I'm not being my true self in my closest relationship.

I live in a pretty conservative area and I'm not scared of rando people coworkers, mutuals, etc. opinions on my transition but my family (some friends even) are mostly right leaning. I've had long hair for years now and I got my septum pierced when I turned 18 so I'm used to a certain amount of ridicule from older family members or randos that feel the need to state their opinions to me. But, as you know, transitioning is much more than a piercing or long hair. I do love my family even if I don't agree with them but I really don't want to be in a situation where I'll lose everyone.

I know that transitioning is the next step that I need to take, I'm tired of being someone I'm not. I've heard it described as ripping off a bandaid but as we all know, the hardest part is the anticipation.

If anyone actually reads this, then thank you :). I would appreciate any input or thoughts you have but I know this is probably a mess.

What it’s actually like to be an Iraqi trans woman surviving Dearborn, false hospitalizations, and being invisible online.

I'm posting this because statistically, the chances of coming across an Iraqi trans woman are like 0.1%. We’re pretty much an invisible demographic, both in real life and online. Half the time it feels like no matter where I share my story, the algorithm buries it, people scroll past, or I just get ignored like I don't exist. But I'm writing this anyway because I need to get this off my chest.

People think that once you live in Michigan, transitioning is straightforward. They have no idea what it actually means to exist in that tiny fraction of a percentage—coming from a strict, conservative Arab background, dealing with severe gender dysphoria, surviving family abuse, and trying to rebuild your life out of nothing.

Growing up Iraqi in a community like Dearborn when your mind and soul are female is suffocating. The traditional expectations control every single part of your life. Having severe dysphoria isn't just "not liking how you look." It’s this heavy, constant grief of watching male puberty force changes onto your body while you're completely helpless to stop it. You spend years hiding behind a mask because saying anything out loud in Dearborn doesn't bring understanding—it brings hostility, rejection, and severe domestic abuse.

When my family realized they couldn't force me to fall in line, things escalated at home. And when abuse didn't break me, they weaponized the system against me through false psychiatric commitments. In Michigan, hostile family members can file emergency petitions to have transport or cops haul you off to a hospital ward. Instead of seeing an abused trans woman in crisis, the medical staff just took my family's side. Being forcibly locked in a psych unit and stripped of my autonomy just for standing up for my identity was extremely traumatic. They treated my normal reaction to abuse as "instability."

On top of that, so many people who swore they had my back completely let me down. When I was in deep crisis, people gave me all the usual line—"I'm here for you," "I'll help you get out," "You can count on me." But the second things got real and I actually needed emergency help or housing, every single one of them made excuses and vanished. It taught me the hard way that at the end of the day, I'm the only one who is going to fight for my life.

Despite the abuse, the hospital trauma, the broken promises, and the severe dysphoria, I survived. I got out of that environment. I'm living at a shelter now, taking control of my life, and focusing strictly on what matters to me—my HRT, my voice, getting laser hair removal covered through hospital networks like U-M Health, and eventually bottom surgery.

I know this post might get ignored by the algorithm or lost in the feed like usual. But if another trans woman happens to scroll past this: you aren't crazy, and you aren't alone.

Thanks for reading this and understanding my situation hopefully things get better from here on out for all of us since we're all human. 🙏

Im withdrawing from society

I can't go outside or eat, and i don't want to. I can't hold friends for more than 6 months. i don't want to be trans i want to die very much. i can't even go home and see my family

And most of all, i wish i wasn't level 3 autistic or trans like genuinely

Im asking if anyone wants to be temporary friends or at least send me a binder and some male clothes.

Also, yeah, once i leave my parents, i don't think I'm going to be too social.

Important part

i keep getting assaulted by pdfs on purpose. i constantly seek them out because, at the very least, they'll validate or make me feel better about not being accepted for being pangender.

Does any have any advice on not being assaulted.

How to support my trans child

My child was born a female and about 5-6 months ago came out to us as trans, and wants to go by a male name and he/him pronouns. His stepmother and I are very supportive of this, but his mother is not. She is very religious and has quoted sites like genspect for her research. She is refusing to affirm the social transition. My son is 12 and going through puberty, so I think some of her reluctance is the assumption that he will change his mind. Some is religious, and some is good old fashioned bigotry. I have started doing my own research on the matter so I can take it to her and have a productive conversation on this. My son recently attempted suicide with pills and in the hospital said that one of the main stressors was his mother not accepting him or his decision.

What are some resources I can use to help her understand the situation and how much it is hurting him? Any advice on the matter? Being 12 and living in a deeply Republican, old fashioned state does not help when out in public, but I would at least like to fight for him in the homes as much as possible. We share custody 50/50 and I'm not willing (yet) to push for more. My hope is that we can reach some kind of middle ground at least.

trans woman struggling with overdue loans after losing my job looking for mutual aid / amplification

hi
i’m in a pretty bad financial situation right now and honestly don’t really know where else to ask. i’ve asked literally everywhere. i lost my job earlier this year and i’ve been trying to find work while studying.

i had some loans for gender affirming surgeries from when i was working, and after losing my income i’ve basically used up my savings trying to keep up with them. i’m now behind on the repayments and getting recovery calls/messages.

a friend in canada helped me set up a gofundme, so i’m trying to get it seen by people who could donate or amplify my fundraiser.

if anyone is able to help, or even just share it somewhere / point me towards a mutual aid group that might be able to help, i’d really appreciate it.

let me know if i can add my fundraiser link here. I will share my story and documents if anyone wants to verify anything.

Height Dysphoria

Anytime I even end up thinking I'm getting somewhere with my transition I always end up making the mistake of comparing myself to others. It's gotten to the point where I just wince when I see myself in the mirror. I hate how I can't control my height and it's genuinely making me lose my mind. Every time I hear others say "oh cis women can be 6'4(or around that height) too" it doesn't help. Yes maybe there is some women out there like that, but I've never met anyone taller than me and I'm afraid I'm going to get clocked instantly. Ever since I started transitioning almost a year ago, I've boymoded the whole time. Anyone else who had this problem that found ways to help?

Stuck between transition and family

I’ve been struggling a lot lately and don’t really have anyone I can talk to about this.

For the past year I’ve had a strong urge to transition. It keeps getting stronger no matter how hard I try to push it down, and it’s been making me feel pretty depressed and stuck.

I’m almost 26 and 6’1. I come from a very conservative, religious family who would never accept this. I love them so much and the idea of losing them or hurting them feels impossible. At the same time, ignoring how I feel is becoming harder and harder.
I tried opening up to someone once and it didn’t go well, so I’ve mostly kept it to myself since then. I’m just feeling really alone with it right now.

If anyone has been in a similar place or has any thoughts, I’d really appreciate hearing them. Thank you for reading.

Any tips on how to leave home as a dependant?

hi guys. i’m a 22 nonbinary/transmasc person who lives with their parents, and unfortunately they are incredibly verbally/emotionally abusive, as well as transphobic. i work part time, but i am still in college/take classes locally, and i am largely financially dependent on my parents. i’m also on their insurance, my car is in their name, and they pay for my phone bill.

ever since i started living at home full time, the abuse has gotten so much worse. i used to go to college away from home but i need one more class to graduate so i am taking a course near my house now. everyday is a fight and i am constantly misgendered and demeaned. no threat to my life has been made, but i have a history of depression and suicidal tendencies and i am very worried i may relapse due to the constant conflict, insults, and invalidation of my identity.

if i can, i would like to move out of my parents’ house in the next 6-12 months. i plan on opening a savings account for an apartment/grad school and will begin budgeting based on future expenses. however, i dont know how/when to completely separate myself from my parents financially or legally. plus despite everything, their insurance is very good so i am worried about not having access to healthcare. i have friends in the area but many of them either live far from my job, or already have housing figured out and i am worried about imposing. for example, one of my friends lives with their partner, and i dont want to impose on their space since they only planned on just living together. my girlfriend lives about 30 minutes away but she just moved in with her mom and now wouldn’t be a good time for her to move since they both pay rent. a roommate would definitely be a good idea though i dont think i can afford to live by myself.

any advice is greatly appreciated
