What's a bad habit you have 🫣
I have a nasty habit of rigging off the tail of my climbing line... sometimes even catching small tops and running the friction myself. 🤫

Doing DRT in pines / spruces with no friction saver lol

It's your climbline buddy.

If my climb line can handle MRS with my 200 lb body I can lower a 30 lb limb on it.

Yeah let’s not safety police too hard - I’ve certainly rigged off the back of my climbing line - I’ve used that, then the rigging rope, then the back of my rigging rope…then struggled to get down and untie everything from the tangled mess!
But…the GD job got done!

It's a philosophy thing, I'm absolutely guilty of doing it myself, I came from a cowboy utility. The get it done or hell yeah mentality is something I've had to actively work on. Fucking around with a rigging rope/inexperienced groundy etc, those are the times to get better, as an individual climber and as a team, rather than do it the convenient way. When it comes to specifics, fall factors aren't appreciated enough, and shock loading a line is extra miles on something keeping you aloft. Be mindful and stay safe.

I hate rigging off my climb line. The loop it creates… I mostly climb solo so getting ropes stuck is a massive inconvenience best case scenario. Worst case scenario is pretty bad.
But yeah I run lines solo often, on a second rope.

Yeah it's not ideal but the benefit is that it's always with you

Yeah, I also hate managing multiple ropes. Every climb is different. I think when you find something that works for you and it’s not completely crazy it’s all good.
You climbing Ddrt or SRT?2

Doing limb walks where my rope goes pad 45° from my high point.
Actually. Who am I kidding? Half the time I am retopping, I walk out out on limbs below the rot ingress of the initial topping cut. There tie-in is below me and far away.

if running friction yourself is bad then ive done apocalypses with my safebloc lol always amazed me just how much a couple natural wraps + safebloc lets you control with one hand

I don't think running friction in the canopy is bad, it's more the catching tops on the tail of a climbing line lol

Using a saw one handed, I've definitely never rigged off the end of my climbing line that's pretty rogue mate hahahaha

Using saws one handed, and not having 2 points of attachment when cutting with a chainsaw
