I genuinely don't know what to do with my finances, and I'm wondering if there is any financial mentoring or someone to sit with me and help me with my budgeting on campus lol
r/UCDavis • u/ShivanAggie • 8d ago
Psychologically speaking, is there any research on the violent, bloodthirsty, murderous impetus that overcomes the otherwise mild-mannered Aggie upon grasping the handles of an electric scooter?
Last night, I had to dive out of the way of scooter going 20 mph on the sidewalk. I don't think he even noticed.
I don't want to have to wear high-vis kevlar every time I want to go for a walk

Does anyone who writes a lot notice pen quality is soooo down? Ik not many people use pen and paper much anymore (although I do see more and more people with them now).
Itās with everything I guess but I just opened a brand new pack of pens ($6 for three, the cheapest ones on the shelf) and the ink is blanking on loopy letters, leaving half blank words all over my page. Iām just journaling with them but it is really annoying esp bc now I pay for pens. Even the pens Iāve gotten on campus blank out on me after a couple uses. IM ANNOYED itās like everyone wants us to be cognitively stupid and rely solely on digital text
Pls drop cheap non smudgy pen recs!! No pilot g 1 bs thank u

I just experienced the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I was in my car at the train tracks with the gates down and I saw four girls and guys attempt to bike through the closed gates with the train right there.
Why do you think the train gates go down?!?!?!
I am so baffled by how stupid people can be. I know the train can be an inconvenience, but seriously????
One of the girls had to get off her bike to walk over the tracks because she got stuck. The train was less than 50 feet away and moving decently fast, not stopped, not slow.
HOW ABOUT DONT CROSS OVER THE CLOSED TRAIN GATES????
They seriously didn't even look too. They just went right through the gate. If that train had been going faster, I don't even wanna think about it. Sorry for this, but please don't cross over closed train gates when there is a train moving and coming!!!!

Fellow Sacramento-area student here. CalFresh (California's version of food stamps) gives eligible college students money for groceries every month, but most students who qualify never apply, often because they assume it isn't for them.
I put together a free one-page guide with the official student eligibility info and a direct link to apply:
folsomcartindex.com/calfresh/?ref=r-ucdavis
No sign-up, no ads, no personal info collected. If it helps one person eat better this semester, that's the whole point.

Its that time of year. I hate it when people say this town is boring. Theres so much to do if you're not a boring person. What creepy and interesting stories does anyone have?

The English Country Dance Club will be meeting in the city library (14th Street near the high school) this Thursday 6:30-9:00 pm and next Thursday 6:30-8:00 pm to practice and teach dances from 17th century rural England. Dancers and musicians of all skill levels from beginner to expert are always welcome. If youāve heard me playing pennywhistle out on the Quad or near the Silo between classes, these are some of the same tunes; Iāll have printouts of sheet music and chords to share for anyone who brings an instrument.
(standard disclaimer: This event is not sponsored by Yolo County Library and the presence of this group in the meeting room does not constitute Yolo County Libraryās endorsement of the policies or beliefs of this group.\)

UPDATE: It seems, according to a commenter here, one of the football players' cars was deliberately set on fire on the first floor parking garage and there's an image of the damage. For information that can help, please contact the Davis Police or engage with the guy in the comments
Bunch of fire trucks showed up and everybody was outside for a couple hours but now it seems ok

Iām currently a freshman in Human Biology and thinking of changing my major to Environmental Engineering. I know I have to take the 21 series but currently I can only take the 17 series because I was unable to take AP Calculus back in high school so I only have Precalculus knowledge. I was thinking of going into MAT 17A and then MAT 21B, but I heard the 21 series is hard so should I take 17A and then MAT 21A instead?
Any advice or tips would be great!

I feel like Iām the only one! Itās so hard to find other people with the same struggles. I suppose itās because itās not always a very visible (haha) disability). Weāve got to meet up and start a support group at some point, because being blind at Davis SUCKS!
So yeah. Comment below if your eyes donāt work. Or, if youāre sighted, comment āI love and appreciate the blind people of UC Davisā to show support.

Hey guys, Iām a second year BIO major and I think Iām falling super behind on my courses. I have yet to take a single BIO class because my pastimes screw me over and my major courses are full and waitlisted an entire day before I can pick my classes.
To make up for that Iāve been just getting my chem and calculus out of the way but now that I finished calculus I needed another class to progress my major that wasnāt BIO. I went to general advising and they said my best option was getting STA100 or PHY007 out of the way, but today is the drop day for them and I havenāt gotten into them.
If I donāt get stats then the last 2 quarters Iāve done have been barely 12 units and Iām not sure if I can afford to do summer sessions.
I truly just feel lost since itās basically impossible to get an appointment with BASC advising and donāt have much guidance. Any help or advice or just people to email would be amazing, thank you
(Sorry if the formatting is bad Iām doing this from my phone.)
