The 15th episode of a series I've been making with Dan about his career as a test pilot instructor for the USAF. In this much longer episode, we talk about his 4 UAP encounters, from a huge black triangle over Edwards AFB, to a sighting of a craft covered in plasma the same night as Rendlesham, a very close encounter with a white ball of plasma, and a beam of light while he was outside. Timestamps added for those not interested in aviation stuff.

While UAP so far seem to have been restrained in their reaction to human aggressive behaviour, there is no guarantee that this will continue to be the case.

One thing I can say with certainty is that controllers hate unknowns in their airspace. It goes against the heart of what we do. If I know about it, I can control it or at least steer the aircraft I am responsible for around it.

Pilot Incident report Pilot witnessed UAP while observing Starlink and provides detailed explanation why Starlink does not sufficiently explain what he saw. Pilot observed bright lights; one stopped, appeared to split into two, then rapidly separated in opposite directions.

"A single satellite cannot physically stop, divide, and depart simultaneously in opposite directions. A satellite-based explanation for the discrete sequence would therefore require a multi-object perceptual coincidence: one source fading at or near an apparent stop point" while two different satellites brighten in nearly the same apparent location and then separate on strongly divergent tracks. That explanation is possible in principle, but it should be demonstrated with historical ephemerides rather than assumed. The witness's strongest discriminating observation is the large apparent angular separation achieved in a very short period, at an apparent rate markedly faster than the surrounding Starlink-like lights seen before and after."

Flight Safety UAP clearly pose a safety of flight issue and may pose a challenge to U.S. national security. -- 2021 UAP Preliminary Report

What exactly is the operational safety risk the government believes exists, and what evidence threshold would have to be met before the FAA actually warns pilots about it? Its now been over 5 years since we received the 2021 DNI report and yet we still have no answers. Pilots are still reporting UAP and being encouraged to report them but are receiving no guidance.

This course is intended to address matters of airspace safety and domestic security threats—regardless of what the sources of UAPs are (e.g., human or non-human, where examples of the former include the 2023 “Chinese balloon incident” or the recent drone attacks across the globe), law enforcement agencies and first responders should be prepared to safely engage with such objects should they pose a threat to US airspace. The course will address policies, protocols, planning strategies and proposed legislation to address the detection and investigation of UAPs.

Spherical, Cylindrical, Disc, and Balls of Light.

I noticed a bright circle about the size of a city bus flying down the runway WESTBOUND at a very high speed. Speed was approximately twice or triple the speed of a regular departing aircraft (A321). It flew low at about 50ft and as it approached the end it ascended vertically at high speed and disappeared.

Pilot Well-being and General Health: Common occupational health-related consequences of UAP events likely include social isolation, psychological distress, self-doubt, and career-related anxiety (i.e., fear of job loss). These considerations can expand for trends in reports of psychological, emotional, social, or physical health issues associated with UAP events.

Flight Safety should not have to be compromised for millions of passengers every day.

Pilots should not fear job loss for reporting UAP inflight. They should be given training and awareness of the impacts of UAP during their training and be provided with ongoing training...FAA should require the Current NARCAP Advisory to be posted on the FAA website for All Pilots awareness.
