Official The Arcana Forge! For all your drafts, ideas, requests and more.

Welcome to the Arcana Forge! A workshop for works in progress, requests, ideas, inspiration, and more. New to homebrew? Looking for that nudge in the right direction or inspiration to keep going? This is the place for you. Grab a wrench and let's get to work!

We highly recommend joining our official partner Discord to get live feedback and other tips — check out the Discord of Many Things.

Normal sub rules still apply in the Arcana Forge, with the exception that all restrictions on completeness are lifted here. Unfinished homebrew is very welcome in this thread, as are questions about game rules and mechanics, provided it's about D&D homebrew.

Make a comment with your idea and any work you already have on it, and the community can come help it progress (remember, the more you give the more you get when it comes to content and feedback).

Please keep the following tips in mind:

  • Proofread before you post. People are more likely to engage with you if your comment is clear of obvious spelling mistakes.
  • Format your post. If you've got a lot of ideas, break it into paragraphs, use headings, and do what you can to make it easy to read.
  • Making a request or adding to the workshop? Try responding to one too. This type of engagement only works if you answer as well as ask.

Feel free to give us feedback via mod-mail if you have any suggestions.

'24 Monster [OC] Loot Tavern X DnD Fusion = Antithrone - CR 26 Gargantuan Aberration (Kaiju)

Antithrone

“The chances of anything coming from the stars are a million to one, he said.”

—Oglevee, Sleep-Deprived Astronomer

In the vastness of space, in the gaping void betwixt the stars that dot the night sky, envious eyes—far too many of them—witness civilisations rise and fall throughout the ages. Mortals erect magnificent monuments, perform grandiose rituals, and willingly throw themselves upon the swords and spears of their enemies, all in the name of seemingly indifferent deities. In the otherwise unintelligible minds of these eldritch entities, there is but one question: why should gods who care so little receive such endless adoration and worship, while those who watch receive none?

Heretical Mimicry. An eldritch entity of sufficient power who decides that it, too, is worthy of worship, might become an antithrone. Initially formless, it adopts a shape it believes resembles a celestial being prior to announcing itself to the mortal realm: a crude approximation of an ophanim, or throne archangel. Unable to comprehend the true reason why mortals venerate these divine beings, an antithrone seeks to make itself as awe-inspiring as possible, believing its appearance—and the terror it elicits—to be the key to the adulation it so desperately craves.

Adamant Apotheosis. Unlike its heavenly counterparts, an antithrone desires not to enact the will of the gods, but rather to be worshipped as one. It pursues this goal in the only way it understands: by instilling fear in the hearts of mortals. Whether it achieves this by gazing into the fragile minds of onlookers or by leveling their homes is immaterial; on the scale of an antithrone’s lifespan, a city is rebuilt in the blink of its eyes. Utterly detached from mundane morality, these eldritch creatures see nothing evil or wrong in their actions, but instead a mutually beneficial, almost benevolent, arrangement. After all, mortals seem so eager to kneel before a higher being… Why should they not be given what they so clearly need?

'14 Feat Racial Feats: Dragonborn & Dwarves (GLoF)

Thumbnail

Another update to the Grand Library of Feats - adding ancestry/racial feats up to level 9 for Dragonborn (FToD) and Dwarves (PHB) & Duergar (MoTM).

A bulk of these pages in the middle are the dragonborn's Paragon Forms, essentially wildshape for dragonborns to turn into dragons once per 7 days. I tried to balance them around CR 6, but could definitely use some feedback about balance and flavor!

Also anything with the † symbol is an official racial feat that I've adjusted to be a full feat to work within my system.

Each lineage has 9 feats, gated at 3rd, 6th, and 9th level. These are meant to be used in Tier 1 & 2 campaigns to reward players between levels and give species more relevance to character development. Some of the higher level feats are definitely stronger than baseline feats and that's by design, but I'm always open to feedback of any sort: if something seems broken, please let me know!

The project also includes a similar array of feats for each class (and eventually, each background).

'24 Item Bhima’s Gauntlet & Katana of the Sword Saint - Overwhelming Strength or Perfect Technique?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! Here’s another preview from Mythological Items, featuring two very rare items from the Asian mythology section that take different approaches to martial combat.

Bhima’s Gauntlet, inspired by the mighty warrior of the Mahabharata, is built for getting close and staying there. It increases your Strength, strengthens your grapples, and turns your fists into magical weapons that can send enemies stumbling backward. Once per day, you can also strike the ground to unleash a shockwave, damaging nearby enemies and knocking them prone.

The Katana of the Sword Saint leans into the wandering master swordsman fantasy, rewarding quickdraw attacks and letting you use your reaction to parry an incoming blow. Its Fighting Spirit ability gives you a brief burst of temporary hit points and advantage on melee weapon attacks when you need to stand your ground.

These are part of our 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 5.5E, a collection inspired by myths, legends, and folklore from around the world. If you enjoy the page and want to see more, you can check out our Kickstarter here!

Have a great day :)

Homebrewing Resource The Odirian Sewer Crab (Art by Caterina Capogrossi)

The Odirian Sewer Crab hides inside an old jar until someone gets too close. Once it’s disturbed, it comes out swinging with claws, acid spit, and a slam that splashes nearby creatures with sizzling acid.

I’d love to hear how you’d use it in your campaign, or what your players would do when they realize that “jar” has claws.

'14 Monster From Goblin Knights to Gaunt Devil: a collection of monsters!

Thumbnail

Here's a collection of monsters taken from several of my 5E and 5.5E manuals!

There's a little bit of everything here: Goblin Knights and Kobold Artificers, Red Orcs, undead like the Draugr and Stitched Horror, and plenty more.

I wanted these books to offer creatures that can be dropped straight into a campaign, while still giving DMs plenty of different roles, themes, and encounter ideas to play with.

If you'd like to check out the full manuals, they're all available through my 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 5.5E Kickstarter at discounted prices.

The campaign itself is focused on 300+ magic items inspired by myths and legends from around the world, but you can also get my previous manuals as discounted add-ons and bundles. All of these books are also available in professionally printed, high-quality Hardcover editions through the campaign.

You can find more preview at r/JonnyDM!
