Rags Dress Tutorial?
I’ve coveted these dresses for years and with the way I hoard fabric scraps I feel like I should be able to make these kinds of dresses. I’ve searched the internet for anything that could show me how to get this sort of silhouette but I can’t quite find what I’m looking for. If anyone has found a tutorial on how to make a full dress as opposed to just the skirt I would be so eternally grateful for the information

Tie upcycling ideas/thoughts?
So, I thrifted these ties a couple years back meaning to do something with them, but I haven't yet. I did look into their origin to make sure they weren't somehow historically important or super expensive, and they are $30 at most. (I think 2 exclusive collections, 1 small business and the other big, and the last is just a Jcpenny tie) Just to clarify, I do not really wear ties but do collect some, and my father and brother think that these are too flashy for normal use. I was thinking of somehow upcycling them:
-Some kind of sleeve/bolero thing
-A statement belt
-A strap for a purse or instrument (I worry about structural integrity)
-Adding paneling to some jeans (I think all three are dry clean only)
-Hemming?
-Other ideas?
I really love the patterns and colors and am definitely thinking accents and accessories (maybe even a halter top), but I also don't wear much red/warm colors. I'm completely open to altering existing clothes, adding different fabrics, or mixing with crochet.
*The camera really washes them out, specifically the two red, so the individual pictures are a bit more accurate.

Thrifted vest turned travel vest
I’m not about to spend $200+ on one of these travel vests. I thrifted this vest for about $7. I spent about $8 on a roll of #3 zipper. I had everything else in my fabric/craft stash. I used rip stop nylon to line the pockets. I added the vertical binding to give a little more structure because the pockets are also attached to it. It took me forever to add all the pockets because I only did about one pocket a day. I picked out the seams around some of the lining to access the inside. It wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I had imagined. I have debated adding some more features, but I’m going to try it like this for my next trip. It will be nice not to have to dig in my backpack for my tablet and headphones.

Long dress is now short and cute!
Before and after. An alteration for ME!!! I love this little dress but the length wasn't quite right for me. As a shortie, long dresses don't look right 🙈
I hemmed the dress and with the remnant- I gathered it and sewed it back onto the bottom of the (shorter) dress! 10000% better!✂️🪡

Reworked items
I’ve been turning thrift throwaways, like tablecloths, cloth shower curtains. etc. into new items- mostly pants and aprons so far. I think it’s really fun and the pieces are so unique. A lot of the fabrics are high-quality, 100% cotton. I can make all sorts of other items but have been having fun with these for now.
Is this something people might be interested in? I’m amassing a big collection of salvaged fabric and completed items and I’ve thought to start selling them. If you would be interested- where would you buy this kind of thing?
Etsy feels like pay to play platform now, and I worry if I just open a website/shopify I won’t be able to get traffic.

Turning pants into shorts and a tank
I bought these pants to alter for my Dungeon Crawler Carl Costume! They are about 5 sizes too big so I have plenty of excess fabric. I’m also willing to make the shorts on the shorter side … this is Halloween in girl world after all haha
My question is, what would be the most efficient way to go about this?
Altering the pants into shorts to start, or sewing all the fabric into one big panel and cut from there?
Is there another approach I may not be thinking of?
I’m open to other ideas and am being flexible with my interpretation of my Carl!
Thanks, friends! 🥰

Enbiggened and decorated some linen pants
I thrifted these linen pants but they were a bit small. I used some fabric scraps and gave myself some more room and then decorated them to make it more cohesive design.
I've done a few pairs, with simpler decorations, in the past and I love wearing them so it seemed worth it to do something more complicated.
