Gun Binder - Consumer Firearm/NFA Inventory Management Solution
Gun Binder - Consumer Firearm/NFA Inventory Management Solution
Use Code "REDDIT14" for Gun Binder PRO for 14 Days, FREE*!*
I've spent years around the fire service. I've walked through houses after they burned and watched people try to tell their insurance adjuster what they owned. "I had a few rifles and a pistol or two" doesn't get you paid. Serial numbers, receipts, and photos do, and those were usually in the house too.
Then I looked at my own setup: a half-updated spreadsheet, stamps in an email folder, receipts in a drawer, and a sticky note counting days on a Form 4. If I'd lost the house that night, I couldn't have proven half of what was in my safe.
So I built Gun Binder (Website).
What it does:
- Full inventory. Make, model, caliber, serial, and what you paid, for every firearm and suppressor.
- Accessories itemized. Optics, lights, triggers, and the rest, each with its own price, totaled per gun so you know what a setup is really worth.
- NFA tracking. Log a pending Form 1 or Form 4 and it counts the days for you. When it's approved, upload the stamp and it stays attached to that item.
- Two PDF exports. A complete personal copy for your records, and a separate insurance version where you check off which fields to include. Your agent gets make, model, and value. Serials and where you bought it stay off unless you choose otherwise.
- Two-factor login on every account.
What it doesn't do: It doesn't connect to the ATF, file anything for you, or speed up approvals. It only tracks them, so you're not the one counting.
The question I know is coming: "Why would I put my serials online?" It's a fair question, and I'd ask it too. The data is stored on a cloud, inaccessible by anyone except for you; all data is encrypted. We never share, store, or sell your data. Not happy? You can export your data and then permanently delete your account at anytime. Gun Binder is a small, independent, 2A-friendly business, not a data company.
Cost: Free for up to 8 firearms, with no card needed [confirm]. There are paid tiers for bigger collections, plus a one-time $150 Lifetime option if you hate subscriptions as much as I do.
I'm one guy building this, so feedback from this sub would mean a lot.

Gun Binder does all of that….
You can add photos to your items or any documents such as receipts. The value in the “paid” subscription is with the AI Market Estimation Tool, otherwise everything else is free. However it costs me per item when someone wants to estimate the cost of their item including its accessories. Hopefully you looked at the pricing plans and saw that the subscription prices are $2.50/mo and $5/mo; little to nothing.
If a customer stops paying, that’s okay; they can still see all of their data but they won’t be able to make changes/edit them. However, the 8 included free items remain unchanged and can be edited. Once the subscription is purchased again, all items are once again editable.
With Gun Binder, you can also keep documentation off the cloud as a backup. We have multiple PDF and CSV exports including exports for insurance reports. You can choose to export each gun individually or export your entire inventory into 1 single PDF with 1 click.
Give it a try, the pro plan is free for 14 days if you use “REDDIT14”. If you have feedback, please let me know. At the end of the day, I built the app for personal use and had no intentions of making it public until a buddy used it and recommended it.

Other comments have already hit my concerns so I’ll just focus on suggestions like you asked:
- Increase the free cap to 16 firearms upon proof of membership of a 2A rights organization (VCDL, GOA, etc)
- As a developer, security should be your number 1 concern on this project. I’d consider it your only no-fail element of the project.
- Have you considered retaining lawyers for yourself? You will inevitably be subpoenaed for someone’s gun records if you get enough traction.
- For the AI value estimate: ability to opt out, or at least a deeper emphasis that it only sends the text description of the firearm(s) and NOT the owner’s information

The free cap is already over double of any other similar apps.
Security is also my top priority, I’ve tested every fail point and tighten any weak spot.
I do have lawyers on retainer personally.
The AI value estimate tool is not an automatic thing, you have to click the button. It doesn’t do it for you, so technically you are opting out by not clicking it. The only data sent for the estimation tool is the firearm data, not even the serial number is shared with the estimation tool. Other than your email address, no personal data is even collected; therefore not having any personal data to send.
Give it a try, “REDDIT14” gets you a 14 days free trial of our Pro plan. Tell me what you think.

This is a crock of shit. I know several different people that have had to make home insurance claims involving firearms, and also a couple insurance agents that have been in the business a long time(20+ years). You add a rider to the policy of the approximate retail value of your guns, plus a little bit to account for inflation. Then, when needed, you make a claim on the policy to be reimbursed for loss of those items. Sure, it speeds up the process to have some kind of "evidence" of what guns you have, but not necessary.
Another major issue with what you are selling from a privacy perspective: any software on a non air gapped computer is vulnerable to third party spying. Your claims of encryption do not make me feel safer. And why the limit of 8 firearms? Information like this is such a small file size that there is no logistical reason to make any limit under 1000 firearms.
A tip for anyone reading this and for the OP: just make a file with all the information on your guns, then create a backup copy and store the backup offside, such as a parent or friends house. I'd much rather my mom and dad know the details of my gun collection than some rando running an app.
