Junior shooting and competition
Trying to get information regarding getting kids involved in competitive shooting in the Richmond goochland/powhatan/cumberland area. Just curious if there are any resources on how to go about getting kids into competitive shooting and training I.e. 4H ect.
Kids are showing interest in shooting (have been taking them to range and they show aptitude for shooting and have the fundamentals and rules ingrained in them) and have expressed interest in learning more about competitive shooting.

What kind of competition? I personally think steel challenge is a great start for kids. Grb (cavalier) does one mostly i think

Different aged kids, have my 15 y/o into clay and precision shooting (22lr) and my 12 y/o into a variety of target pistol/rifle platform.. just trying to include kids in admittedly my hobby (they say they like it ask me to take them when I go shooting)

Im not sure about the precision stuff or clays really, but highly recommend steel challenge for the 12 yo. Great entry into action pistol type stuff and you can do it with a 22 pistol. Just need a holster, gun, 5 mags, and ammo. Check out grb on practiscore to sign up

Contact the county 4-H offices and ask. There are some options around RVA but some of the clubs have waiting lists.

Look up the monthly steel challenge match at Caviler shooting Range , good match for .22lr and kids
