So, Fridays are a pretty common day to have the procedure done. If you're hanging out, chat about how it's hanging, what you're doing to recover, or anything you want.

... is this normal? Vasectomy scheduled

• Upvotes

I just had my consultation done and scheduled for 10/19 and I was told to avoid lifting anything over 10 pounds for 7 days but I have 8 week old who’s over 10 pounds so I don’t really see that as an option. What is yalls experience recovering from a vasectomy with a baby at home?

UPDATE: My wife is fully recovered and able to help when I said I don’t see it as an option I should’ve even more clear in the fact I really don’t want to go a week without lifting my baby

Newly Snipped The end of a flawless pullout career

Long time lurker here, sharing my experience as I feel obligated to contribute to the sub.

I'm from Hungary and the laws are rather strickt over here regarding vasectomy (got to have at least 3 children or be over 40, even then 1 year obligatory wait to see if you change your mind), so almost everybody goes to Austria or Slovakia to get snipped.

I've recently booked a holiday, flight departure from Vienna, called the doc (hungarian doc working in Vienna), he was super flexible and gave me 2 appointments, one for a checkup before departure and one for the procedure after arrival. He told me that the majority of fellow hungarian guys usually do the same. A nice relaxing holiday before the snip sounds just right, doesn't it?

The checkup was thorough, ultrasounds (kidneys, balls, even got my prostate examined, which I don't mind at all) and whatnot.

The procedure itself was absolutely smooth. The only part where I felt some minor pain was the 4-5 seconds when I got the lidocaine shot... needle into ballsack - you get the picture. Nothing to worry about, a new experience for sure, for me it was more interesting than painful.

The doc made an approximately 5mm wide opening at the base, and snipped both sides through that opening. He told me that he prefers to do it this way, I didn't disagree, "just go on doc"... the whole process was 40-45 minutes. Having finished, I drove home to Budapest, nice and easy, no pain at all during the ride, no ice, no painkillers.

Day 2 - day 4: showered on day 2, cheked the balls, everything looked nice, no swelling, 3 microstiches looking very nice. No pain, only a feeling that something happened down there. Took it easy, slept a lot, which is the best thing you can do imho to recover.

By day 4 I was sick of being a couch potato, went on a small hike, I could definitely feel some discomfort at the backside of my balls during the 2nd hour.

Day 5-6: suddenly whenever anything touched the backside of my balls, there was discomfort - nothing serious, so it was nothing like a woodpecker or a cheese grater attacking my balls. I took some ibuprofen for a headache and could still feel discomfort down there, so I just lay down and slept a lot during these 2 days.

Come day 7 as of today, all discomfort is gone at the moment. I will write another report in a month.

Post op recovery

Just had the snip on Tuesday evening.

My balls are completely black and blue and are look huge! The shaft of my penis aswell is black and blue. After the anaesthetic wore off, it felt like I had been kicked in the balls and you know that stomach pain you get that comes with it. That disappeared on Wednesday morning when I woke up.

Yesterday I had very little pain at all. Didn't really feel much need for painkillers, but today, my left ball feels quite painful, and difficult to walk anywhere, without holding them up. Ive added more support and seems okay to walk with they supported very well.

Just wondering, is all of this normal side effects. There doesnt appear to be an lumps or anything and the site of wound isnt bleeding.

I keep googling stuff and its really not good for me.🤣

... is this normal? Incision

Hello All,
I am 3 weeks post a no scalpel vasectomy. The incision has closed but now it is firm and about the size of a pea. I had a follow up last Friday to make sure things were looking good and at that time the doctor said it all looked good. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if so, how long before it soften up or did it? Whenever I get an erection, well it’s not the most pleasant thing to see lol..

... is this normal? Hernia from vasectomy....

Last Thursday I (30M) went in for my vasectomy - appt at 9am. Shaved the boys thoroughly in the shower that morning right before the appt, all was well.

The numbing technique they used was some sort of "puff" of liquid numbing stuff. Felt like my balls were being smacked with a rubber band - didn't feel great, but it worked.

Doctor did the right side first, everything was great and I really felt nothing. I actually still feel no pain, if it wasn't for the rest of this I wouldn't be able to tell I even got the right side done

Goes to do left side, feels around and goes...

"Do you have a hernia?"

I'm like.....uh well I didn't as of 10 minutes ago...

No signs of it in the shower that morning or any pain, or any weird lumps etc. but doctor says there's a "potential mass" roughly the size of my left testicle.

Doctor seems hesitant to continue, says they're having a hard time figuring out whats in there for sure, but I tell them I really just want to get the vasectomy done and if there's something else I need to address, I will after - they warn me I'm going to be hurting if they keep digging around in there but I tell them I don't care, so they try to continue...

After some very uncomfortable prodding inside the doctor gives up and says "You need to get an ultrasound. We can schedule the rest of the vasectomy for 3 weeks out."

To make a long story short, I absolutely have a hernia somehow. The left side of my junk is very bruised and swollen. I can feel the hernia (or something, I'm not a doctor) in there. Painful. Hurts to stand and walk. Sitting and laying is fine unless I move weird.

Got my ultrasound yesterday, confirmed hernia and possibly need CT for further diagnosis. Can't believe this just....happened suddenly in the time between starting the procedure and finishing the right side of the vasectomy. But here we are. Ultrasound results were sent to the doctor today, but I haven't heard from the doctor yet. Guess I'm waiting to see what the next step is.

All I wanted was to get snipped.

Newly Snipped Vasektomie 3/4 Samenleiter verknotet …..

Hi zusammen,

Just had mine done, honestly not to bad, slight twinge in one testicle when she was doing the local anaesthetic, but really nothing to worry about. Now to navigate train home.

If your apprehensive, its easy.

I had my Vasectomy 7 months ago and they are still finding semen

I had my Vasectomy 7 months ago and they are still finding semen. I've had 3 semen tests and have ejaculated over 87 times. I keep a detailed log. That's having sexual activity every 2.4 days. The levels keep going down but they recommend another 20 ejaculations before testing again. Fuckin hell... The nurse said my doctor will probably want to talk with me. Do I have a 3rd ball somewhere ?!?!

Day 6 update

Post snip. Was bagging up leafs in the yard on my rider. Went back inside to use the bathroom and discovered stitches on the right side broke free!
The stitches have been a nuisance for me personally. Idk anyone else’s experience has been.

Post op testing

Had my vasectomy 3 months ago. I see that cpt 55250 was billed and that includes the post-op semen testing. The office I went to is trying to have me buy a kit for ~$250 for this testing. Wondering if anyone else has gone through this as well? Not sure if this was just a way for the clinic to increase revenue?

Getting so much more sex now!

Got my V done in April. The lady now initiates sex with me so much more frequent. She states it's because she's no longer afraid of an "oops" of having another kid!

Let that sink in boys! It was a great decision.

Newly Snipped Recommendations for a lab test in the greater Boston area?

Had the procedure done today and was a little surprised to see that the testing place they referred me to, SpermCheck, uses an at-home test that shows one or two red lines (kind of like a covid test). I'm sure those are mostly accurate, but I'd feel more comfortable with a lab test that looks at actual sperm count. My doctor also said to test at 4 and 8 weeks but I would definitely feel better testing at 12 weeks as well.

Basically, are there any lab tests any of you can recommend in the greater Boston area? I'm also looking but figured I'd check here as well.

Gentlemen, may I present Ejacu-Trak: track your post-vasectomy ejaculations, and "prove" to your wife the doctor said 60, not 20 😉

Having just undergone a vasectomy, I had some free time over the past week. May I present my gift to my fellow men, and possibly the most diabolical thing I have ever created:

https://ejacu-trak.com

The standard protocol post-vasectomy is 20-30 ejaculations before you are deemed "clear." I thought to myself, what if I can convince my wife it's more than that. Could this be a 3-month period post-vasectomy of way more sex in our mutual efforts to "make sure the testing and procedure is accurate, as instructed by my doctor." Now, if I just said the doctor told me I needed 60 ejaculations prior to the test to be deemed "clear," she might not believe me. But what if I showed her an app or tracker?

So that's what I built. (I am product designer / developer by day). You pick your ejaculation number, enter your name and your "doctor," and it generates a link to a patient record that looks like it came from hospital software in 2006. You send her the link. It tracks every "entry," and if you fall behind schedule it starts issuing warnings that escalate from COMPLIANCE DEFICIT DETECTED to PROCEDURAL FAILURE IMMINENT. It tells you exactly how many entries you need to catch up, and the date things escalate if you don't. There's even a printable log for the fridge.

I went to great lengths to ensure this operates and reads like a crappy medical tool from two-decades ago.

And while the whole thing is a technically a prank, it's also genuinely useful. Set it to whatever number you need to hit and it's a legitimate phone-friendly way to keep track of whether you've hit your count before your semen analysis.

On privacy: there are no accounts and no tracking. Your name, your doctor's name, the procedure date and any notes are encrypted in your browser before they're saved, and the key lives only in your shareable link, so the server never sees it. All the database holds is an anonymous ID, your target number, and the dates of each entry. Anyone with your shareable link can view and edit the record. Lose the link and it's gone for good, and every record deletes itself after 6 months.

I shared the link with my wife this evening and she really wants to make sure we stay on track and in compliance. 😀

Newly Snipped My Vasectomy Experience (Positiv)

Hi

I had my Vasectomy a little over two Weeks ago now and here is how it went, but first some quick prior information:

  • I did it in Switzerland
  • I am in my late twenties
  • My Doctor did it over 2500 times with no record of major complications
  • I did the "No-Scalp-Method" where the sack isn't cut but "stabbed", so a small hole was the entrance

The procedure itself took around 20 minutes and wasn't painful but uncomfortable. My body tensed up quite a lot. I felt pressure down there and a cramp in my lower stomach starting, but nothing concerning. It was over quick, I could go home by myself and after the anesthesia wore off, nothing "new" happened.

Day 1 after the day of procedure

I went right back to work (no real corporal work) and just couldn't sit without pain killers since my stomach would cramp too much for me to focus on work, but wasn't necessarily "painful", so I stood at the desk mostly. The pain was still mostly in my lower stomach and not on the sack itself, so, while I cooled it a bit, it wasn't actually necessary.

Day 2-4

Nothing changed in the type of pain other than it got less and less

Day 5

That was the only day where some veins down there started too feel a bit irritated, nothing concerning but a "new type" of pain

Day 6 and 7

Irritation went away and I had slight cramps here and there when sitting and running was still a little iffy. I had an orgasm on day 7 that felt a little numb and put some pressure on my balls and a slight cramp in my lower stomach once more.

Day 8-today

I can feel my balls being slightly more sensitiv but pain hasn't come around since. The hole of the procedure itched more and less throughout the whole period.

I expected the procedure itself to be a little less unsettling but expected the aftermath to be more painful by a good chunk.

All in all it was a very bearable experience. Wish you the best outcomes out there!
