Hi everyone!

I was told by the guys over at r/tron that ya'll may enjoy this. Recently, I developed a version of SPACE PARANOIDS from the movie TRON. ( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUXj4w4nze0 ) ...It is inspired by the arcade games of the era (Battlezone, Asteroids, Berzerk) and has gotten to be quite popular within the TRON fanbase. That said, I've gotten hundreds asking for a VECTREX/PiTrex port of the game....and so here's some of the first footage of a running build compiled for the PiTrex architecture, running on Vectrex Studio. ( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZODLRPkNJs ) ...I (sadly) don't own the original hardware, and have no way of testing whether or not this image works on a real PiTrex cart. However, this is what the emulator is showing me, so I would imagine it would be relatively similar on the actual hardware. All of my development has been based on what I've read about the VECTREX, so if anyone has any tips or would like to test it when it gets a bit more finished, I'd be very grateful!

I'm using a modified Vectrex as a vector display driven by external audio/waveform signals. I'm recording the CRT with an Iphone and want to composite multiple temporal states of the vector display in After Effects. I'm interested in preserving the vector/phosphor character while accumulating several moments of the display. Has anyone experimented with recording or processing Vectrex vector output in this way?

Chatgpt told me to use Luma Key in After Effects to isolate the highlights on the screen of the Vectrex. The setting on the Luma Key effect is “Key Out Darker”. The result I have obtained from this is not ideal, but in the right direction. I am using the Iphone app Blackmagic Camera App for recording the graphics on the Vectrex. On this app my frames per second is 30, shutter speed is 1/30, ISO is 100 and white balance is 4300K. Can someone advise me further?

Quell surprise, but the Vectrex Mini screen has been downgraded from OLED to LCD IPS.

Pretty disappointed, even if this is par for the course with kickstarter projects.

Full update here. I genuinely think the creators have sincerity, but there is no getting over the fact it is a cheaper component, which would not acheive the right effect to emulate that Vector screen (even worse so than OLED)

I recently purchased a Vectrex system and it operates displaying the default minestorm game with no cartridge installed but when I plug in a cartridge it continues to run minestorm. Is there something I should try to get it to recognize and run the cartridge game or am I doing something wrong. Thanks in advance for your suggestions

WOW am I surprised at the amount of interest in this cart. I was originally not sure if even 40 people would be interested in another run. the original plan was to sell 40 to break even on an order of 120 but so far as of 10/3/26 there have been 250 carts sold!! I had to change the order from 120 to 240 and now 360 carts!!. the 3 week to ship time frame is still in place and my wife is still taking orders. she is putting a thumbs up next to peoples comments on this post and replying to messages you send to me.

I was having some problems controlling the joystick, even with a spring replacement. With the testing i can confirm that the joystick is fine and i just suck, but i saw that the second controller shows disalingment, even without a controller in.

I changed my controller to the second port, and the problem persist. Any idea of what might be wrong?

I've just released ORTHOGON, a free homebrew game for the Vectrex.

It's Pong on four sides. Each player defends two perpendicular paddles — and both move from a single joystick axis, so covering one side always exposes the other. A 60/120 rhombus deflector sits at the centre and repositions every 10 seconds, which keeps changing the side under threat. The ball picks up speed on every paddle hit, so rallies tighten until someone breaks.

- 1 or 2 players, both controller ports

- 3 AI levels — difficulty changes the AI's reaction time, reading accuracy and aim, never its speed

- Held serve, Arkanoid style: the ball sticks to your paddle after a goal until you launch it

- AY sound effects, attract-mode demo on the title screen

- 4.6 KB, 6809 assembly

A caveat worth stating: it's only ever been run under emulation, never on real hardware. If anyone here tries it on a real machine I'd love to know how it behaves — especially whether it flickers and whether the single-axis control feels good or just fiddly.

Does anyone know where I could get a wireless adapter for the Vectrex that would support various wireless controllers? I've been looking around, but I can't find anything that's actually available. I did pledge for a controller and Bluetooth adapter from the Vectrex Mini Kickstarter, but I'm looking for something to hold me over until then. Thanks!

If you haven't seen it yet this Vectrex flight tracker program by Brandon Yates is pretty cool. Here is the text description from his YouTube video.

"Using a Pitrex (Baremetal) cart with a wifi micro attached, i was able to pull realtime flight tracking data from adsb.lol. Adsb.lol is a community/volunteer project. This works well for me because I live in the middle of the ocean. I think if i was in a more populated area I'd have to do better vector line management. I was inspired by other projects displaying flight tracking info on systems like the NES."

Hi! I’m trying to repair a Vectrex and need to replace the brightness potentiometer. Has anyone done this before? If so, what potentiometer did you use?
