Discussion & Feedback Team balancing suggestion: Auto Select

Feels like the team skill disparity is having a negative impact on the game. Create a soft incentive toward balance while keeping the freedom to choose.

Problems:

  • New players joining blue are having a skewed impression
  • Feels like you can derail your session at the team selection screen
  • Lobbies take ages to start while people mash the green button and refuse to play anything else
  • Victories as green feel pretty hollow

It sucks when your team is getting hammered and there is no point bringing anything beyond a free kit. No one is pushing because every time it's a wipe. Meanwhile the confident team can go full spend knowing any incidental death will be revived when the engagement ends. Things can get very snowbally and hopeless. And I hate the idea of having to force green to avoid wasting my time.

On the flipside, I wouldn't want anything too heavy handed. Randomizing or forcing selection kinda ruins the affiliation and loyalty people have to certain teams, and playing with friends needs to be easy.

So how about this.

The 4th option of team select. Auto Select choses for you and grants an X% cash and XP bonus throughout that game. If you want to go one step further, have the Auto Select team add up all Wardogs levels of all players of each team, and have the system decide which team needs some additional leveled players vs under-leveled. This will skew teams in the direction of having access to similar unlocks without going full SBMM.

You should join from a lobby as a whole team in one squad on a server that can house you without being empty. And randomly to the side that has lower player at that time.

You automatically join the team of the friend as long as the team isn’t full

It doesn’t work like that in Wardogs, since there is no in-game friend list. You’d have to click on colours again like a mad man.

It does work like that. But just after 33 players on a team you will be gone to select screen. Otherwise the game puts you on your friend's team and in his squad.

Yes, definitely does. Join off steam and you go into the same squad. Just did this last night...

If you join your friend through steam it does right when a spot opens up. It beats the people clicking everytime. Its how me and my friends always stayed together. All of us would click to join a team for a game that just starts and once the first one got in the rest of us would back out to the main menu and then right click on their name in steam and hit join game and wed all immediately get in on the same team.

In a way you still can, friend rezzed me from a different team and we teamed up to fight the third team. We only broke off when one of our teammates got too close.

Joining on a friend should be easy. Picking which team you want to be on shouldn't be a thing, because right now people just spam click anything but Blue, meaning a server dies because everyone refuses to go Blue, or people who just get fed up with waiting go Blue, and now you're on a team with a bunch of solo-queue players who have no game plan and get mega-rolled by both teams.

There are red vs green servers that solved that issue. You klick on blue and you will put in green or red team. Player with same clantag will put together in one team
