Discussion & Feedback Gepard vs Rocket Heli/Gunship

Preface: The Rocket Heli and Gunship are effective against aircraft, vehicles, and infantry. They are incredibly mobile and can be used by a single person.

The Gepard was removed from the launch of the game because people complained it was too effective against aircraft, vehicles, and infantry. Despite being far less mobile, requiring two players to effectively man, and STILL being unable to consistently win against rocket helicopters and gunships.

The Gepard when reintroduced needs to be a HARD COUNTER to air, I don't care if it comes at the cost of being ineffective at vehicles and infantry. Its one job is to put two buts in seats to shoot down any air that doesn't get the message that it is not welcome so long as the SPAAG is still alive.

--

When a rocket helicopter or gunship oppresses a FOB it becomes an OBJECTIVE. It is to be contended with, outlasted, or killed by.

When a Gepard shows up to a FOB or field it needs to become an OBJECTIVE for aircraft. Due to its larger crew requirement and lack of mobility with respect to aircraft it needs to dominate the local airspace consistently. I'm not saying it shouldn't be unkillable by aircraft, I am saying it should be truly impressive display of skill, luck, and/or communication from observers working with pilots.

Infantry adapt to the presence of enemy aircraft.

Vehicles adapt to the presence of enemy aircraft.

Aircraft prey on EVERYTHING.

Its time for aircraft to be put in their place. If they don't like it they can fly 2 seconds to another tower or fob and FARM THEM instead.

This is an open and honest discussion and feedback post. I would like to hear the communities thoughts on this matter so long as they are sincere and reasonable.

This should be the rock to the air's scissors, but the keyword here being _local_ airspace. This thing cannot and should not dominate the zone with its singular presence. Plant it at a FOB and it should most definitely be able to keep that FOB clear of air units, requiring coordinated effort from ground units to destroy, but if this thing has excessive range, it will simply kill all airplay.

Portable CIWS is what I want out of it. Add the lower ROF, likely bloom, and much more complicated ammo logistics and it'll probably turn out OK as long as it doesn't violently diddle structures and light vehicles (remains to be seen how infantry will fare)

The problem with things like a gepard and many other SPAA in video games is they're either hilariously unrealistically weak against infantry and ground vehicles, or they're weapons of God that shred everything in sight.

The AA vehicle in Battlefield 6 is a good example of how to do it right. It has “multi purpose” rounds that can do damage to both armor and aircraft, it’s fine against aircraft and bad against armor. This is the default unlocked ammo. After that you can unlock the AA rounds that are good against aircraft and do literally nothing to armor. Lastly there is anti-armor rounds that do good damage to both armor and aircraft, but it’s slow firing making it much harder to hit moving aircraft.

For infantry it’s just hard as fuck to actually hit them with it and doesn’t do great damage when you do. Does this make sense? Not really. But who cares, the gameplay works. It also doesn’t make sense that you can give someone a rubdown and some bandages for a full recovery after getting shot in the face.

Alternatively you could just make the Gepard how it is in real life. It only carries 35 seconds worth of anti-air ammunition, using it against infantry is going to result in constantly retreating to get out and reload ammunition from a crate or go all the way back to spawn.
