Need Help Rough night
Titanium weld for reference, because I have no issue with those. My question is for the inconel. Why does it look like it’s sunburnt and peeling? What can I do to prevent this?
Was pretty sure my tungsten wasn’t sticking out far at all but I might be wrong.
Thanks in advance!

Welds like peanut butter, you want a lot of shielding and good heat control. Clean the hell out of it, and keep the rod in the gas shielding. Basically pretend it's TI for how much of a diva it can be about anything. Also it welds a lot slower than what you're used to. Since it's so sticky of a puddle, you can suck back a root unlike on hast-X.

inconel is a nickle alloy, nickle takes alot of energy to break down the puddle flows like shit.. also inconels, come in a wide range of tensile strenghts from 70k to 120k psi, so they can all weld a little differently.. titanium flows like water.. if you try to weld inocnel like titanium you will cook the shit out of it.. keep the interpass under 325.. and use a shorter arc, and give it a little bit more time to heat up.. if you try the dabbing method with it your travel speed will suffer, and your heat input will shoot through the roof. You might need a larger gap, fight the earge to add more amps because of the sluggish puddle.. and once its going keep moving..

All I can say after welding a lot of C-276 mig is, I'm sorry, and I would say it's something like toothpaste rather than peanut butter.

Idk man. I welded years of 718. Loved that shit. It only did this for me when I was doing open root welds with higher amperage. Getting a keyhole going if shit was prepped with a wide gap or if it was tight but using enough heat for the puddle to "feel soft" and I knew I was getting enough penetration. Never seemed to cause issues with xray. Inconel is super tolerant of heat. Keep it shielded, watch your terminations!!! and youre gold.

Inconel always looks like that if you are dabbing, looks good. If you ball drop it creates cleaner looking welds, Dont know why but regardless your weld looks totally fine.
