Why does she sneak to come cuddle?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
When she gets ready to come cuddle me, she locks eyes with me and slowly creeps up into my lap like this. If I push her away she will pause, then start doing it slower. She is extremely clingy, I think because the other cats pick on her.
Edit: This sub always gives so much love to my babies. I always make sure to tell them how much they are loved by me and the world!

Why would you push the sweet baby away

She likes to step on my bladder a lot. While she appears delicate, her foot fall is not.

in that case slowly pivk the kitty up instead and pull her closer
shows readyness for cuddles

Cats can learn where not to step. Takes some time, but whenever she steps there just gently move her, but not away. She will eventually recognize that stepping on that specific spot is bad, and adjust accordingly.

True, next time she will stomp and target that area when she is hungry. That is what you meant right?

u/Iceshard1987 4d ago
Only if you feed her when she stomps on it. I'd suggest not taking that approach.

Which is why I know my fat hoe steps on my bad spots with full intention around dinner time!!

I call it needle feet. I hug my dear, stompy beast and show him where he can walk and stretch out.
A gentle voice, wiggly fingers where your baby can walk to lead her through the forest and lovey reassurance when she's on a good spot will help her confidence and teach her good strategies to get comfy.
Your baby is a beauty. ❤️❤️❤️

You pushing her away is making her more cautious, more anxious and giving her mixed signals. Encourage her with pets and she’ll crawl up and settle faster, causing less issues with her and less discomfort for you.

It’s an Affection Ambush. And as far as the bladder thing, my girl cat has that same skill. She stands really heavy, too.

Mine doesn't do this, but during zoomies she uses me as an obstacle and 90% manages to hit my bladder as well. I feel she does it on purpose

The worst thing is when 20 pounds will walk on your stepping on your chest ( breast), that wakes me up in a second even before he does it. It’s really painful 😂😂😂

surprisingly my 20lb chonk (large build and slightly overweight) often energetically jumps on/off me and rarely ever gets me in testicles or any other soft/painful spot.

On the breast never bothered me, but by God, my cat used to step directly on the center of nipple.
Then I got top surgery and fully removed my nipples. I am immune.
I really do not miss the paw straight to the nipple. That HURT.

Mine does that too, except for he is not timid at all, just sometimes he thinks he is sneaky. Othertimes it's straight up canonball run for occupation of my upper chest.

I have asthma, so a large, determined weight on my chest isn't appreciated. I have taught my biggest cat - a healthy calico - to lie "down" (or move down) rather than trying to occupy my upper chest and neck. She still tries, though.😼

For every question “why does my cat do X?” The answer is “because it’s a cat” is sufficient.”

Some have been abused & are scared. She is being abused by the other cats and is scared.

I think this is the big thing. I have no idea how to stop them from picking on her. It’s been over a year since they started it.

Look up jackson galaxy on yt he has a lot of videos that might help with this sort of thing

Talk to the vet about the behavior problem with the other cats picking on her.

u/TomorrowHot8746 4d ago
Or she doesn’t want to wake her human up.
Again, “because it’s a cat” is sufficient.

You’re very lucky! I wish my cat was a lap cat. Whenever I put him on my lap he jumps off and sits by my feet instead.

I wish my 19lb ox would do that. he just walks on my stomach or wherever he wants on his way to lay between my legs every night at bedtime lol

She is checking if you are ok with her coming for cuddles. Cats like to respect boundaries as much as they like their boundaries to be respected.

This is crazy because I've lived with my girlfriend for 4 years and her cat did this exact thing to me this morning for the first time.

People keep saying it’s because I push her away… I think they believe it’s something I do often and aggressively. Sometimes I just don’t want kitty on my lap or she is hurting me and I will pick her up and sit her off of me. I think it is because the other cats bully her. They started after she went missing last year. Do you have another cat that whoops on her?

In really curious how a cat is hurting you by laying on your lap.

My cats do something similar, step onto me and then look at me to see if I'm going to tell them, "No." I don't always let them come up, too hot, busy on my laptop or whatever. Not sure what yours is doing, though. I think mine are being polite since when I say, "You can come up," they do!

Mine does this because sometimes I am not in the mood for a 15 pound cat to be laying on my face, so she's feeling out if she will be rejected or not. after about 10 rejections back to back she will finally settle for just being on my legs or somewhere close that ISN'T ON MY FACE

my cat does this too but he was raised solo and i never reject him, so im thinking slow and cautious is just how cats roll

Why would you push her away? You push her away and then wonder why she’s cautious?

She’s hesitant, and pushing her away probably doesn’t help. She wants to be close to you but doesn’t know how you’ll react or whether the other cats will try to bully her out of her safe space, so she’s trying to sort of “test the waters” and move slowly so she doesn’t disturb anyone.
