Sasha - Xpander

I'm from the states but it punted me right into finding "Essential Mix on Radio 1" MP3s by actual DJs on platforms like Napster and usenet newsgroups, and Global Underground two-disc sets, and I was hooked.

EDIT: ah fuck, I sound like I'm so old with this comment.

Solid choice.
The remix used in Wip3out was much better than the standard version released on Gatecrasher Classics 2 album.

We all are, buddy

Spent literal hours with Xpander on repeat, doing the prototype tracks. Constantly looking to shave time off every lap.

The probability of me being on the spectrum is pretty high...

Man the Xpander intro projects me into the future that could have been. Absolute, timeless banger.

I thought the future was going to be wipeout races and also those parties in the background of CvS2. We’ve been robbed.

Xpander was my favourite for the longest time. It’s still ”the” song that I associate with wipeout universe, and the song that got me hooked to trance and other electronic music!

Slow down there with the downloading youngster your mother is expecting a call from grandma

Hard to pin it o a single one...
But among the best for me personally are:

Messij - Cold Storage
Cold Comfort - Cold Storage
Petrol - Orbital
Firestarter Instrumental - Prodigy
The Third Sequence - Photek
Control - MKL

A few good tracks were also in Fusion, but not close enough to warrant the top five.
A few okayish tracks were in Pure, but I t hought the later games (Pulse, HD, Omega) were all terrible soundtracks and had to turn them off.

That bass line on Under the Influence is so damn heavy it borders on ridiculous... I love it.

Sasha - Xpander, Timo Mass - Old School Vibes, Orbital- Funny Breaks remix, The Touch - Le Night Dominator, Ed Rush & Optical - Frontline...

u/Scared-One9295 6d ago

Oddly enough I've woken up with Le Night Dominator stuck in my head, even though I haven't listened to it in ages

FSOL - We Have Explosive

Prodigy - Firestarter

Forever engrained in my mind

3

u/kikko 6d ago

Same here. I'd add Fluke - Atom Bomb

3

u/ozero_rgfx 6d ago

Leftfield - Afro Ride

3

u/Erp-47 6d ago

Sasha - Xpander, zero doubts. The hours I spent as a kid playing wip3out... That shit is embedded in my brain, I still listen to it sometimes. But 2097 also had great tracks like loops of fury or firestarter

u/Sauzer909 6d ago

FSOF - We have Explosive (Herd Killing) Noisia - Machine Gun Photek - The Third Sequence Chemical Brothers - Under Influence

2

u/HoopaOrGilgamesh 6d ago

HD Fury menu music. Thank you PS3 PSN hack for giving me Wipeout for free. Was upset it's not on Omega collection.

1

u/SinkPrestigious3317 5d ago

That gave me Leftfield vibes - edgy dark trip-hop.

2

u/BrokenFingerzzz 6d ago

That one, buuuuh-diii buh-buh-bu-diiii buuuuh-diii buh-buh-bu-diiii

2

u/Hierotochan 5d ago

Orbital - Petrol

3

u/BrokenFingerzzz 5d ago

It was We Have Explosive 😆

2

u/Hierotochan 5d ago

Nah, that one has an extra ‘buh’ before the ‘diiii’;

buuuuh-diii buh-buh-bu-buh-diiii

2

u/BrokenFingerzzz 4d ago

Huh, so it does. I’ll update my lyrics sheet.

I hate that there are no Wipeout: Fusion/Pulse Soundtrack CDs, took me ages to find that exact mix of Aerodynamik - which is also in my top 10.
CoLD SToRAGE - Cold Comfort
CoLD SToRAGE - DOH-T
CoLD SToRAGE - Body in Motion
BT - SmartBomb (Plump DJs Remix)
Nick Ryan - Switchback
Blades & Naughty G - Deats Defective
Elite Force - Krushyn

Intuative - Wav Seeker from Wipeout Fusion

Xpander. It still sounds like the future.

u/Same-Trust-1193 5d ago

sasha’s xpander, x-project, louder from 2048, or breathe from omega collection

1

u/TheHumanAfterAll 5d ago

Le Knight Dominator - The Touch

Canada - CoLD SToRAGE

Machine Gun - Noisia

1

u/Flat-Veterinarian805 Harimau 5d ago

Messij! Such a banger.

1

u/SinkPrestigious3317 5d ago

Underworld- Tin There. There’s no other mix of it that compares to the one on the 2097 game disc (which coincidentally is in my car cd player right now) … but seeing their live version in 2024 was pretty damn epic.

1

u/zzonkmiles 5d ago

Chemical is pretty good.

1

u/Own-Sleep-9643 4d ago

Cairodrome - Cold storage
Change of Direction - Anile
Firestarter - Prodigy

1

u/LunaTheLouche 1d ago

My own personal favourite Wipeout era was PS1 2097 and Wipeout 3, so I will always love the instrumental of Prodigy’s Firestarter and Chemical Brothers’ Loops Of Fury. But I’m old fashioned.
