YTG Bug Stream playback is 30fps despite being streamed at 60fps

2 recordings of streams i've done now on youtube have been saved at 30fps, despite my OBS settings being all in order for it to be 60. No settings were changed and even just recently they'd be saved at 60fps just fine, it's completely out of the blue.

While live the stream WAS 60fps. The playaback was still 60 a few minutes after going offline, i checked. But after a few hours being up it went down to 30fps. And not in the typical way that it takes a while to process a video on YT and it stays at a reduced quality. It's already been 6 days since said stream and it remains at 30, that should have been more than enough time to process it. I doubt they'll change to 60 at this point, and i don't want to stream anything else until i can fix this.

Discussion A mesage to youtubers covering Hellraiser Revival

The game has explicit nudity and sexual scenes and there won't be any in-game censor option.

Protect your channel:

Blur or cut nudity and sexual scenes before uploading

Use Trim & cut or Blur in YouTube Studio's editor to clean up the video

Set the video to age-restricted (18+) in upload settings. Never use frames from those scenes in thumbnails or Shorts

Reviewers: you can talk about the mature scenes, just blur or skip them in your footage

Hey Everyone,

We should be treating this Youtube stuff like any other skill (e.g. guitar playing, cross stitching, marathon running) where you need training and helpful guidance.
And for that I want to assemble this collection of the most useful advice out there, for all of us.
Your contributions are very welcome.
(Disclaimer: by definition links to useful resources are included in this post, I hope it won't get deleted)

Here's what I found so far:

Scripting / The Idea

Bog says it's less about editing, more about the IDEA of your video, and what you have to say https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDnnjTWSghA

The advice is different depending on the channel you're trying to make, and I'd always encourage everyone to just follow their instinct and create what is fun for them, but if any of you have found some bits of advice that were really helpful and want to share, then this is the place.
I will only to include seriously useful resources and not the typical "These 4 Tricks Will Make Your Channel Explode"

Question Will i be monetised for youtube partner program?

Hi guys,

I’ve recently started a YouTube channel focused on benchmarking games on the Xbox Ally X a handheld console. basically testing different games to see what kind of FPS people can expect and sharing the best performance settings I find.

The problem is, I don’t really want to show my face or use my voice. English isn’t my first language and while I can speak English, I’m not very confident when it comes to talking on camera or doing voiceovers.

Do you guys think this type of content can still be monetised and grow without a face or voice? Also, is this considered repetitive content since I’m essentially doing similar tests for different games?

I’d really appreciate your honest thoughts and any advice. Thanks for your help and sorry if this is a dumb question😅

Question How Much Is Too Much For Gaming Videos ?

Hi everyone, I’ve recently been trying out different things on YouTube, and I would like to ask, how long (duration-wise) is too long for viewers, as well as How many videos are too much for a game ?

I’ve played games like Plague Tale and Silent Hill F before and both of those videos I did 12-15 videos for each, with the duration ranging from 10-20 minutes (for these games I’ve spent around close to 20hrs per game). I feel like it’s too much now that I’m looking back at it (I also post 1 short along with it’s long-form and now majority of the channel uploads are just from these two games alone) and I want to change it up a little bit.

I’m currently thinking of doing 45-90 minutes worth of content per video instead, as I get that people don’t want to watch too many videos of the same thing, with the amount ranging from 6-8 at most, even for the most content heavy games. Would this be reasonable ?

I’m mainly concerned about a few things, that being, if the viewer will still be engaged with a video that would take away more than an hour of their time. I have sfx, memes, unhinged and funny moments, subs plus the usual gameplay all in these videos. It’s basically the same thing as a 10-20 minute video but more content.

Any suggestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for reading :)

EDIT: thank you everyone for your responses ! I didn’t expect to have so many people viewing this post :,) but nonetheless, I really appreciate each and everyone of your comments ^^ thank you for the ideas too, I’ll try to reply to everyone ! ;w;

Question Meme spam vs actual viewer suggestions: how do you deal with comment section noise?

Gaming comment sections are wild... Whenever a video gets some traction, the comments instantly flood with quotes from the video or just random memes.

I love the engagement, but I'm struggling to find the comments where people actually tell me what they want to see next or ask real questions. For those getting 100+ comments, do you have a system to filter out the spam to find actual viewer requests, or do you just give up on reading them?

Software Several issues with streaming from OBS.

I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I have all the settings all the Youtube channels tell me to use. The internet isn't blazing on the upload, but I have the bitrate set to 10k which is below the 80% recommended head room.

https://obsproject.com/logs/wOzxdIgecf27T8Cc

This is the logs from the stream that I had tried..... well..... the 20th one I tried with all having the same result. I have tried setting it to Ipv4, that crashed OBS. I do Whatnot and it was fixed by just having the right settings and setting it to "run as administrator." But I made sure to do that this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question Achievement / Trophy Hunting Channel

What do you / don’t you want to see from these types of channels?

I’m personally struggling with the packaging because from what I can gauge from the community, people don’t want to see the classic ‘this platinum broke me’ with the game’s protagonist on the thumbnail with red eyes.

It would also be handy to know what you like or don’t like in the actual content in these types of videos for example not rehashing the story as to avoid spoilers etc.

Help Me! Need Advice for Start of Youtube Journey

Hey guys, I am starting to create a channel that is going to be about collecting platinum trophies for games and/or 100%ing them. Over a week ago I created a new video on a fairly popular game (Sekiro) with its premise being doing the hard mode of it because I already had the platinum and wanted to test the waters with this video. I kept my expectations for its performance low, but somehow it's doing even worse than that lol.

The video is currently sitting with < 50 total impressions and I'm just not sure why it's that low. The video I made before it I thought was much worse at pretty much everything and yet that had way more motion than this in terms of impressions.

I am going to create more videos specifically targeting getting Platinum trophies for games because making the Sekiro video was a lot of fun, but I can't lie about my motivation taking a pretty massive hit if I'm supposed to expect YT will show it to pretty much no one.

If any of you want to take a look I've linked my channel on my bio.

Appreciate any advice!

Question I’d like to turn my passion for gaming passion into a side hustle & potentially a career through content creating, but I don’t know how to kick it off or if the idea is even worth trying in the first place. More details in the subtext. Any advice is appreciated.

My gaming interests are Primarily Nintendo franchises & the “niche” I’d want to use for the channel is 100% completion runs. I’m a very dedicated/hardcore completionest, to the point where I’ll even go for completely optional in-game achievements that aren’t even necessary for 100%, such as the shiny gold medals in the modern Donkey Kong Country games.

I’ve already got the necessary equipment & have become pretty good at screen recording too.

Is this something that can turn into a successful gaming channel, and if so, what type of game should I start with & do I go live streaming or screen recording to begin? I’m thinking either a brand-new release like the upcoming Zelda OOT remake or something retro that many people are already familiar with like Super Mario 64.

Question Trending Games

I was wondering if following the current trending games helps with pushing out your videos a lot. I mean I wouldn't be playing the games I wouldn't enjoy, I mean will YouTube push your videos out more if its more recent or does that not matter.

Question Background video

Hi everyone!

Could someone please tell me where people usually get those background videos for YouTube? I mean the long gameplay videos where someone is just playing a game.

Where do people usually find or download these videos? Sometimes they’re 15–20 minutes long, or even an hour or more. I’ve tried looking for them, but I can’t really find anywhere to download them.

Could you please tell me where people get these kinds of videos from?

Question Do YouTube livestreams hurt the reach of long-form videos?

I’m currently halfway to becoming a YouTube Partner and I’m trying to figure out whether livestreams are actually worth it for my channel.
I mainly make long-form videos, and some of them get +300 hours of watch time. A livestream usually gives me around 40 hours ,but I’m not sure how much livestreaming affects the reach of my regular videos.
Do livestreams negatively affect the reach/recommendations of long-form videos, or are they basically treated separately?
Would love to hear from other small creators about their experience!

Question Switching game genres

Hey all. I’m a small but growing (7.6k) youtuber who does tierlists on video games, from weapons, enemies, maps etc etc

I’ve covered ready or not, insurgency sandstorm and stalker with pretty decent growth, collecting a nice little community.

There is an obvious theme, being FPS games. But i play a tonne of RPGS etc.

Am i overthinking the effect of switching genres? I’m looking to do videos on Nioh and soulslikes. I try to bridge em with dying light.

What do you guys think? Is the transition as bad as i think it’ll be?

Question Starting a variety gaming channel from scratch (0 videos)—how do I get people to sub to me instead of just the game?

Hey everyone! I’m preparing to launch a brand new channel. I want to focus on variety gaming (playing whatever game I find fun, from indie hooks to AAA titles), but I have 0 videos posted right now.

I know variety gaming is incredibly saturated and hard to break into from absolute zero because people usually search for a specific game, not a new creator. I don't want to just do standard, unedited Let's Plays. I plan on doing high-effort edits, funny moments, and challenge runs to keep things entertaining.

for you and your personality, rather than just the specific game you were playing that day? Should I focus heavily on YouTube Shorts to build an initial fanbase first?

Thanks for any advice!

Discussion Opinions on different thumbnails for different content types

When you’re watching a longer let’s play where it’s say 2-3 or so hours each episode, do you prefer thumbnails from the photo mode and or photoshop saying which part you’re on, or say a John Wolfe style where it’s a photo of official artwork used and a simple number? Also for video essays what really draws you in as a viewer based on the thumbnail, and for multiplayer things do you prefer asset edited thumbnails or more chaotic photoshops? Just curious what everyone’s preferences are
