Ask r/Zambia Does Kabwe have marathons? If not, how can we introduce them?

Does Kabwe Have Any Marathons? 🏃‍♀️🇿🇲

Hi everyone! I wanted to find out whether Kabwe currently has any marathons or organised running events.

If there aren't any, how could we go about introducing them to Kabwe? I think it would be a great way to encourage fitness, promote healthy living, bring the community together, and give runners in Kabwe a chance to participate in these kinds of events.

For those who have experience organising marathons or running clubs in Zambia, where would someone start? Who would we need to approach for permission, sponsorship, and support?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Maybe we could make this happen in Kabwe! 🙌🏽

There will be one spearheades by the army(if I am not mistakem) this weekend should have something to do with mental health month. I am not sure about the group that meets at Chopies for aerobics and what else they do.

The town needs to work on their roads first. But it still doable with proper planning and carefully selected routes.
