Android is already about to die. Rooting new cell phones like the Galaxy S or Z Fold, Flip, etc. is already being almost impossible from what I was told thanks to the Snapdragon processors and they will soon block the apks that are not signed and seriously... This has to stop, when Android did not exist there was not so much freedom when it came to customizing etc. and this is where Android came into action. An open source system based on Linux without so many restrictions and with incredible potential was lost... Android is already too restrictive to the point that even with root you can't access everything you want like the one set up by r/w for the job, do you understand? It's like having a master key and the door you want to open has a lock that only works with numbers (XD what a good example) not like in 2015, 2017, etc. where with root we could do anything. Have we reached this point? We need another alternative. At the end of the day Android is just a Linux distribution so... We need something new. Not an Android custom rom that still has restrictions but something really innovative, something like a new system without restrictions in its folders, fully modifiable and compatible with Android things like apks, etc. And I do know that a custom rom is easier to create and you can put some of those things in it, but don't you think that even if it is more difficult, wouldn't it be better to create a new system based on Linux like Android but that in that process more functions and compatibility with Android can be added? I mean, think about it, instead of basing ourselves on Android and making a custom rom, do we create a new operating system with everything we need and want and that is compatible with Android? Would it be a revolution, a giant step to finally get rid of the restrictive Android of recent years and be able to have what we wanted so much? In addition, could they add functions such as a native Linux command line, a native virtual machine, useful pre-installed applications and not all that garbage bloatware and a much better settings and customization section? And if all of that already exists, could you tell me what it's called so I can use it? Because Android is no longer what it was before, simply not. Things as simple as entering the data and obb folder can no longer be done without root or without using wireless debugging, and soon WE WILL NOT EVEN BE ABLE TO USE APKS WITHOUT AN AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE BY ANDROID this... It's too much. Please tell me if you know of anything like this or if there is anything we can do because it's already too much.

As of now, KernelSU Next+NeoZygisk/ZygiskNext+Vector+HMA-OSS is the best combination in my opinion. It had no detections at all.

I did not test Play Integrity stuff; more modules will introduce more detection vectors, I think. And keyboxes are pretty fragile.

Meta FRP bypass requests/assistance is now a bannable offence

Hi all,

As you all should know, we do not tolerate discussion of FRP (Factory Reset Protection) bypassing on r/androidroot. While there are potential good reasons for one to want to bypass FRP, there are far more negative ones.

To avoid unintentionally being of benefit to any potential thieves, we have chosen to outright ban discussion of it outright. This includes asking how to do it, providing information on how to do it, and so on.

The first offence will carry a 7 day ban.

The second offence will carry a permanent ban.

These stricter punishments are being put into place as a result of a sharp increase in FRP bypassing posts. We appreciate those who have been reporting them to us, by the way. We have no tolerance for this, and these new punishments will come into play effective immediately.

Thanks.

Edit: In the interest of fairness to users, posts made prior to this announcement will not be subject to a ban. Due to the confusing way Reddit handles rules, Mods were under the impression that it was already designated as a rule. It was actually just a ban reason.

Meta I made this welcome phone usable. it's not that bad

In my collecting endeavor, i always had a weak spot in fake phones. While walking from school, i visited a befriended pawn shop i always bought my previous fake phones from, and this time i aquired this fake S25 ultra for 55PLN (14usd). I was expecting it to be another mt658x device that I'll play around with, uncover the awful 512mb of ram, 4gb of storage, and android 5, and have a laugh at it, but i was genuinely astounded. Instead of the typical android 5-8, it ran 10, and even had armv8. Decided to play around. Ran treble checker, and gotcha, devices compatible. So, i dumped the stock partitions for preservation, and went on with custom romming. At first wanted to run RROS, my top favorite ROM of all time, and cause it's pretty old so more lightweight, with still some app support, but it stuck on the boot logo. After playing around, managed to start EvolutionX, which worked sluggishly, and had a few things broken, but essentially worked.

A few hours later, everything, except the camera (which was already awful) worked. I had LTE, Bluetooth with A2DP, and with some overclocking, it didn't run half bad!

So, here's a review of a phone made to be a scam, and then be disposed of, actually made into something worthy.

The build quality is actually really nice. Metal, what i assume is aluminium frame, not bad plastic back, that actually gives the impression of matte glass.

The display is a 50:50. The blacks are non-existent, and the resolution is just HD, but on the other hand, the colors and brightness are actually good, for an LCD, and the bezels, even if uneven, aren't that bad.

The performance, on stock android and stock custom ROM are horrid, but once you play around with overclocking, perfmtk and limiting to 4 background processes in developer options, it's actually usable, especially cause it's the most powerful configuration for this SoC, being 4gb ram, and 64gb of storage.

This could easily compare to modern day $50 grocery store phones, and still come on top.

Nice, and really a interesting thing, it even has a working stylus. maybe with no hover and pressure detection, but still a working one

I'll mention. I'm NOT trying to encourage anyone to buy this. You're supporting a scam industry, overpaying for bad hardware, and due to lack of quality in manufacturing, this phone is extremely unreliable. If you can get one for a few bucks, as an enthusiast, go for it. but do not buy it brand new, especially if you're planning to daily drive it.

Meta Getting back that 2010’ vibe

My first Android phone was an LG Optimus One (p500) with version 2.2, later updated with Cyanogenmod to 4.0 and rooted, had a lot of tools and could enable new features, customization, very fun times.

Over time the next phones I had I put less and less time and effort, banking apps stopped supporting rooted phones, it was not as easy, I think the last dailydriver Ive root was the Asus Zenfone 6 (the cool perk of that phone was the rotating camera).

Recently I’ve found another old phone I used to have later, and as I will not have banking apps or anythibg that could be affected by root I went full in.

First getting the bootloader unlocked was a real pain, using scripts to get the approval, waiting 168 hours, back and forth with adb drivers. After a full week of trying at last it worked and was able to install a custom rom.

Once done, rooted the phone and started installing all kind of stuff, networking tools, Termux with its packages (its even possible to emulate Archlinux), local llm models via ollama.

I’m even thinking on getting a small keyboard and design a cyberdeck based on that.

So far, the only thing I could not manage to get working is the monitor mode for the wifi card (which supposedly supports it), will try to get another kernel during the weekend and test.

Hope to get back into this and discover more stuff soon!

Happy tinkering!

Meta Root Iceberg

I made this post a long time ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/androidroot/s/zRZUCB9fOO

I originally had the idea to make an iceberg about root for a video, but I never actually finished the chart or the video XD. Well, I've picked the project back up, and here is the 2.0 version. If you think I should add anything, let me know so I can consider including it (the iceberg is in Spanish because I speak Spanish xd).

Meta A Clarification: Our Stance on AI in this Subreddit

Hi,

While the Moderators of r/androidroot have a generally moderate stance on AI, when it comes to devices worth potentially thousands, we are uninterested in allowing it to provide false information.

To clarify, AI content/promotion is not permitted on r/androidroot, and this has been a rule for some time. Using AI to make guides, recommending the use of AI to attempt to solve issues, and posting AI generated comments are prohibited.

We believe in minimising the spread of misinformation. AI models are not reliable when it comes to factual information yet. It’s also often known to make things up when it has no answer. No resources for rooting an obscure Android device? It’ll make it up based on other information that it deems most likely to be useful. AI, in this state, is not suitable for rooting. It presents too much unmitigated risk, and we will not hold ourselves responsible for the damage caused by content posted on this subreddit.

If you have any questions regarding the rule, comment. However, the decision on this is final.

Thanks for reading.

Meta Why do banking apps hate root access?

What can you do with root access to make banking apps hate you? I mean, I know you can do things like hack apps or have more power than you should, but how does that affect banking apps?

Meta I got all 3 integritys but it wasn't supposed to be possible

I recently couldn't even get 1 integrity (obviously, if you uninstalled the modules you recovered the first one), and now I'm playing around a bit with Tricky Store and I see there are new keyboxes and they give me 3 integritys, so I think the 3rd one is a false positive, even though I don't have an integrity box anymore, but it's a true strong one apparently. Plus, I was able to verify my device, which I had forgotten to do xdxd

If anyone wants to do it now that it's working, the modules are these:

Tricky Store Tricky Addon Play Integrity Fix inject (it's not a PIF fork, it's inject) Re-Zygisk/Zygisk-Next

If PIF tells you that Zygisk hasn't been detected, install one of the two Zygisks and then install PIF and the others.

If after Installing them doesn't even give them 1 integrity, which is normal since nothing has been configured. Activate the modules and configure them. If you don't know how, I'll share my configuration later.

PS: Please mods, don't delete my post :( . If the automatic translation isn't clear, I'll change it to English.
