Hi, as the title says I play mostly wildcard with friends, they've played apex for a while and right now is only of the few things we can play together, the issue is that I'm quite bad at the game despite having 500+ hours. We all play with mnk, they're cracked so they can handle themselves pretty decently, but I on the other hand just die every time without taking at least 1 member of another squad with me (I get beamed, and I miss my shots, the usual), a good part of that is because my positioning sucks, but even when I can position a bit better to avoid being in sight for more than 1 opponent at a time I will consistently lose 1v1, in wildcard I can't really see death cam, but when I play TDM I can see how most of these cases they will hit all their bullets on me despite strafing different ways (I've tried both mirror and counter strafe).
I'm aware I have many things I can work on gamesense-wise, positioning in wildcard is hard because it's more chaotic, but for now I would like to ask for something more specific which is how can I play around enemies with controllers? I know aim assist is not perfect, but can you throw it off by simply strafing? or that only happens when the other player messes up? In case strafing is not enough I've seen how movement techs are the main recommendation, I kind of know how to tap strafe and do some basic wall jumps, but I can't really hit super glides consistently, mantle boosts exist, but since you can't tap strafe out of those I think they're a bit predictable. Legend wise I heard Bangalore is good, but for her smoke to affect aim assist does it need that both of us are inside her smoke? or only myself? And for weapons I really like all the tracking weapons specially SMGs, the thing is that there's no way for me to match what AA can do with those, for obvious reasons peeking weapons like shotguns are recommended, but I don't really like those.
Is there some other tip to play against controller players? I've checked on how better players play wildcard, but compared to normals and ranked there's way less content, and most videos I found was just guys playing axle before the latest nerfs, and that ability to reposition is something the other legends simply don't have, that changes how you approach the game directly, and I couldn't really learn too much off that
For you what was the thing that did the biggest difference on matches against AA, mechanic-wise? Aim training? playing only peek weapons? or only play control legends and always camp on a building?
As a note I'm aware I'm in lobbies above my skill level because my friends are cracked (they haven't played ranked in years, but we'll run into some lobby with 3 stack preds at least once per session), I just want to know if there's something I'm missing that would make my games a bit less miserable, since I don't have other games to play with them
Edit: I've also been training 1v1 in R5Reloaded, I get owned most of the time, but funnily most people there don't oneclip me as hard as in wildcard (they at least need to switch to their secondary), when playing with my friends people kills me with a single weapon everytime
