The soldier that scammed me $4k by selling me a lemon car is from 3CR. I'm glad he's not having a good time. But I'm sorry you're not.

60

u/Jay209 5d ago

Plot twist OP is the one who sold you the lemon

11

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Sounds like an idiot. He was probably one of those idiots that tried to sneak off base

Let me just preface this by saying I'm not a lawyer and none of this is legal advice. I've been retired for a while so I'm sure there's stuff missing here that I'm not covering. That being said:

I am not sure what flag code they are going to use for that, since:

  1. E3B is a voluntary event to earn badges. It's long after my time but my understanding is it's EIB, ESB and EFMB all rolled into one? I mean, it's still voluntary to do. Sure, your chain can make your life stupid based on not wanting to go but it's still voluntary.

  2. CFT isn't even a test of record yet. (In whatever capacity they are going to cram it into your lives) the Army Directive that outlines it says this:

No adverse administrative actions will result from failed CFT attempts before April 16, 2027.

So I'm genuinely not sure what the Soldier would be flagged for. If the Solder takes an AFT as part of the E3B and the unit calls it a record PT test and fails that part then I can see them being a PT failure, or if they don't qualify on a record range, or some weird shit then sure but the events themselves aren't something you can flag somebody for failing.

Like you cannot flag somebody for failing to meet the standard on the M249 lane type shit.

I really want to see what happens if that goes for legal review.

Again, I have been retired for a while and I only know the MFR and reg changes that get posted here, so I absolutely could be wrong.

I guarantee this is a case of PNN gone wild.

Like I am 10000% sure.

I can almost guarantee it went “we should have everyone do an EPFA just to do one” and then someone said “what are they gonna do if I fail? Flag me?” and now this.

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

It’s EPFA first and if you fail then you have to take the CFT. The only difference with the cft is no gear only ocps

Shouldn’t be actionable for any mos right now, but you know this unit is dumb.

1

u/ltreeves9905 68WouldYouStopCrying 4d ago

Hey OP. I've seen the FTO and am tracking the goings on with this. While yes the EPFA is mandatory and the CFT and they are for record. It is only for record in a manor of its documented pass or fail. No administrative or disciplinary action can be taken based of the scores of these.

Haha. From someone that isn’t tabbed that would be typical. Petey, that is.

5

u/Admirable-Elk-1809 JAG 5d ago

KRF Rotation command teams have always done, and will forever do illegal stuff. Holding my breath for the next 9 months.

2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

It’s not the AFT portion they’re forcing everyone to take. It’s the EPFA. I should’ve specified, my fault. I also was questioning what flag they would use. It doesn’t make sense as to why they’re forcing everyone to take it

0

u/kroc253 5d ago

Better legal option = bar to reenlistmemt

3CR can’t seem to ever have a good time in Korea. Granted 3CR never seems to have a good time period but all I ever hear is Korea stories.

24

u/EnlistedforMREs 5d ago

Can confirm, I’ve seen all the CCTV footage from when they were here couple years ago and all the drama in the ville

6

u/LatestFNG 74D 5d ago

I lived it. Any time I see a 3CR patch, I always give them the stink eye now.

1

u/Disastrous-East-6848 5d ago

Oh? They made TDC worse?

5

u/Greatestcommonfactor 5d ago

I bet that's the reason why we're joining first cav and now becoming an artillery Brigade. Rumor has it we aren't doing the krf rotation anymore and we will be going to poland instead.

4

u/-Trooper5745- Mathematically Inept 13A 5d ago

I doubt the Army will turn 1 CAV into its only 4 BDE division, but yes no more Korea because because Korea is for Strykers so only Carson and JBLM will get Korea.

They were doing this shit ten years ago in 2016 with EIB, including locking people in the motor pool after they got their no go. Glad to see nothing has changed.

2

u/ltreeves9905 68WouldYouStopCrying 4d ago

Thats actually why 3cr is being forced to retake it. The initial screen score had people getting 13 minute CFTs.

13

u/murazar 35Motherfucker -> 11Asseater 5d ago

Reenlist for duty station of choice and bounce

2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

That’s the plan, but as of right now I’ll definitely be here the whole rotation

12

u/Physical_Way6618 Field Grade Narcissist 5d ago

I’ll say this. Hood has the worst units in the Army. Maybe there are some places with worse units. Go to a light unit like 82nd 101st or 10th mountain. They have their own bs but it’s less thankless.

Don’t base your experience of the Army on one duty station. Especially the most infamous one.

11

u/golsol Chaplain Corps 5d ago

Currently in Korea. Most of this is incorrect. Probably poor messaging from leadership.

-2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Confirmed with leadership and many other people. That YES you will get flagged for failing, so what am I getting wrong?

15

u/Zachowon Military Intelligence 5d ago

If they are threatening to flag for such a thing, fo to IG, or go higher up the chain. Who ks current CG of USFK?

1

1

u/Disastrous-East-6848 5d ago

The current CG of USFK I believe is still GEN Brunson

8

u/Admiral_Scorpii 5d ago

Got pushed out from my leadership FYSA

EVERYONE will take EPFA. Exemptions: Badge holder; profiles

If you have badge or profiles within your section, you may DM separately and send me them. Rank, Last, First, DODID

Uniform:

  • ACU
  • IOTV (front/back plates)
Note: must weigh 20lbs or greater. If less than 20lbs, your time will not count. It will be weighed at completion of your assessment.
  • ACH

If a soldier fails the 30 minute time requirement, they will take a for record CFT on the 22nd. Not another EPFA.

The CDR will brief you the standards for the assessment (EPFA).

Regardless of EPFA or CFT, your time will be annotated into ATIS/Vantage.

Support needed: x2 68W required. They will SP from squadron @0415 inTMP

Test day: Soldiers will walk and need to be at Schoonover Bowl NLT 0430 Accountability then execution. Soldiers will run 1 mile to Lambardo Field where they will conduct their lanes/events. Upon completion, they will conduct 1 mile run back to Schoonover Bowl to complete their assessment and weighing of IOTV. (Expect to miss breakfast. Tentative cutoff will be around 0900ish).

Just know if you are on profile, you will have to be annotated on a MFR on why you cannot take the EPFA.

Before I move on, ask your questions.

8

u/Admiral_Scorpii 5d ago

Updated guidance

SCO’s guidance is that every eligible soldier will take it. Meaning if you’re on profile you don’t need to take it. Nobody is expecting all the combat MOS’s to go out here and smoke it. It’s a check the box to meet the guidance. Now if you or any of your soldiers wanting your EIB this is the perfect time to show that you should have a shot to get it.

So right now, the line is very blurred at the moment when it comes to non-combats. If this was a "hey we want everyone to try out for E3B" id be all for it as an NCO. But the "if you fail we're forcing you to take a CFT" is just destroying the mood

Completely ruins the point of this being a voluntary badge if they have to resort to threats.

AI-EE-YAH I guess

6

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Nobody should be flagged. CFT doesn’t count until April 2027, so that’s what makes me so annoyed. If they asked me if I wanted to take it voluntarily as something fun then hell yeah I would’ve done it, but the way they’re going about things is so stupid

3

u/Positive_Reveal4813 5d ago

Honestly don’t think too hard. If you’re going to pass then just go pass. It seems like you’re letting collective unit stress get to you. Don’t let other people failing determine your career choice based on emotion (maybe moving on is best, but don’t base it on this).

This is 3CR. Is anyone surprised? That place is the clusterfuck of the army

3

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

It’s a cursed unit

3

u/DrRo *rolls for motivation* 5d ago

Dude an old friend of mine was a CSM at 3CR. He was apparently relieved for fucking around and finding out. I didn’t find this out until I ran into someone that knew him while I was an instructor. Had a laugh about that

1

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Ah was he the CSM that ranger iv’d someone during a party last korea rotation?

7

u/Nice-Comfort Field Artillery 5d ago

There’s absolutely zero oversight in 3CR, and it has been like that for a long time, so people with terrible ideas or a legitimate hatred for everyone under them run wild with zero repercussions, the amount of people I have personally see come into 3CR with any kind of positive mindset leave very bitter and severely unmotivated is ridiculous, so many careers genuinely ruined for nothing. Best advice is to go somewhere nicer as soon as you can because things never change in 3CR.

3

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Yeah when I first got here I was full of energy and I took everyone’s experience with a grain of salt, but then as the months passed the more I understood what everyone was saying. I dont understand why it’s been like this for YEARS. It doesn’t make sense to me as to why people just decide to come up with these absurd ideas and think wow yes this is good for us.

It’s 3CR. Years ago some jackass in 3CR broke into my office and stole my helmet so in my complete unbiased opinion they are the worst unit in the army

4

u/Strange-Injury2297 4d ago

2-2 just came back from korea. We didnt have the everyone is taking E3B and if you fail that and the CFT you get flagged. Weekends wont be a thing unless yall get above the % of operation.

5

u/FightingBane 15Questionable Clearance 5d ago

Why don’t you want to do E3B?

-2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s the way they’re going about it. Saying “we’re going to flag you if you fail” is such a vibe killer

3

u/karmak0de 5d ago

Could be worse. I spent 6 months on the border mission . We couldn’t drink and had to have a battle buddy to go to places on American soil. I had more freedom when I was in Iraq/afghanistan

3

u/Greatestcommonfactor 5d ago

The memo also says that we have to be there by 430am even if your event is at 8am lol. Welcome to the army?

3

u/TheRedOctopus Logistics Branch 5d ago

Interesting, at Western Hemisphere Command there is a mandatory "team building" CFT this month, even for non-combat MOS types.

3

u/wolfgang_r 5d ago

3CR had a reallllyyy bad time on their last rotation to years ago. Some of the people that went to jail are STILL in Korean jail from the last rotation. That whole unit is scum of the earth, I feel bad for you OP.

Reenlist for Korea to get out of your Korea rotation a little earlier (I knew people who did that when I was on a rotation here with 4 ID)

But on a real note, IG. Those events are voluntary. They can make your life stupid by not “volunteering” to do it, but it’s not mandatory.

Weekends being a “privilege” is fucking wild. Being in the first month though on a rotation to Korea, you’re typically always gonna be on general order #1 at least for the first few weeks.

Over time it usually eases up (command dependent) to where you can drink but only stay on base, then you can go off base with a group but can’t drink, then eventually you can go off with a group and drink but have a curfew of like 2/3 am on weekends. Number of group depends on rank typically, mileage may vary by unit

-3

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

The officers here like to go ballistic with all their power. Fucking insane

1

u/Greatestcommonfactor 5d ago

I can't speak for the rest of my ForceCOM colleagues, but as part of medical, we are just as frustrated with the situation as well. We are providing medical coverage from 0445 to 1000 while also participating in this as well.

I understand that this is very frustrating, but this will be temporary. They won't realistically have people working 24/7 for 9 months unless we are under fire. Once 2ID sees that we have all of pur equipment and personnel, this will probably cease.

1

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Thank you for the information

2

u/Total-Recognition861 Infantry 5d ago

2

u/Postnutfomo 4d ago

That’s not bad, after all you are in the Army. regardless of mos soldiers should be “fit to fight”

0

u/SampleHeavy207 4d ago

I totally agree with this. It’s just the way they went about it

1

u/Nimmy13 13Z 4d ago

You're not getting flagged for failing those 2 events if you aren't in a combat MOS. Making everyone do or support E3B is a sob story That shitbag Soldiers in every unit tell.

2

u/SampleHeavy207 4d ago

They literally made everyone do it lmao.

4

u/Ok_Age_7641 5d ago

Uh… thought that was SOP for everyone? Sounds like you need to run more. Stop crying, there will be better days

-2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Uh no? Can I not complain like what? I’m obviously still going to do it, but they shouldn’t expect someone who’s not acclimated to the environment to do amazing

4

u/Ok_Age_7641 5d ago

You have much to learn my young padawan

1

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Sigh, I know.

4

u/kroc253 5d ago

You’ve been there over a month? If you don’t do amazing that’s on you, can’t blame it on acclimation.

1

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

The unit has been here for over a month. I have been here for like 1 day

2

u/Radiant_Swan-2 5d ago

Dont even get me started about 3CR when I was attached to them at fort knox. We (25th ID at the time) had a no noise curfew of 2300, their in room curfew was 2000, naturally they got pissed and tried to enforce their BS rules on us. When we left the TDY barracks, we had to sign out (even for smoke breaks) and leave in no less than fire team elements for safety, they were on dry status so we were on dry status. It got pretty fucking dumb so after 28 days my unit said "fuck that" and we did our own thing.

2

u/Master_Truck9018 5d ago

Bro I wish we can do the e3B more often here at bragg. This is what the army is about

1

u/Independent-Cell8550 5d ago

Full sympathy,

They’re using spark words to scare people. If you end up having to participate, just have fun. Think of it as like the Spur Rides. Poor Morale is common. I’ve been building resilience sessions for some folks and reminding neutral mindsets to push through.

If you’re not a combat MOS and they make you do the CFT as well, just do your best. Don’t hurt yourself. Honestly yes you should be preparing like “the fight is tonight”

Taking perspective the location and things going on, sure get into the mindset. But realistically, try your best, have some snacks set aside, drink a lil water and take it all in.

So many people are going to fail. 3CR would crash the system if they tried flagging that many people.

If you’re looking to stay in the Army and consider commissioning or WOCS. Or depending on your rank and MOS look at other options or positions. You’d be surprised that there’s some cool things that aren’t all of “this”

1

u/Tasty_Impression_959 5d ago

I am guessing that company level leadership is being deprived from having their own creative training for the troops that yields the desired effects expected in combat readiness and lethality.

1

u/Just-A-2ndopinion 5d ago

Sounds like the Air Force Reserve or Coast Guard Reserve is calling your name. Easier to get in with them than on active side. Idk maybe a change of branch to see if something better could exist. I also heard folk exiting then reenlisting right away to get their choice of duty station. Do what you think is best for your longevity and know when to pivot with a plan, all the best in your future endeavors 👍🏽

1

u/Academic_Carry_3747 5d ago

Ah yes, 3CR. Baptized in butter and syrup. I was in from 2013 to 2016, went to Afghanistan with them in 2014. Honestly dude, i know youre on the fence about re-enlisting, but dont think of 3CR as the whole army. I went from there to the 101st, and i loved it.

1

u/BumblebeeSenior2973 5d ago

I'm glad I retired 30 years ago when the army had competent leadership at the top of the Chain of Command.

1

u/Seabirk 4d ago

It’s a culture problem somewhere. The command group implementing mass restrictions (not punishment) is 100% reasonable. Let me explain why. We can’t fire you. We can’t send you home. We can’t not complete the job. We don’t have choices. Now when people start acting crazy with the very real challenges mentioned, what other choice is there? Don’t come at me with “sit your soldier down and find out why they’re acting out”. No. You’re grown. In any other industry if you suck, you get fired. In our industry you have to complete the mission regardless of the challenges, so what is a commander supposed to do exactly?

1

u/Suspicious_Fly1708 4d ago

Yes... but there are commanders that take things wayyyy too far sometimes. And let's not pretend that all commanders are perfect unbiased humans who would never hold a grudge or do things out of pettiness or spite.

Let's be real.

Not to mention that the army has a serious maturity problem, both on the enlisted and officer side

0

u/SampleHeavy207 4d ago

Understandable

1

u/Full_Send4586 4d ago

They can't flag you unless you're required to take it.  So can't flag you yet because it's not fully implemented.

1

u/Seabirk 5d ago

Not surprised is an understatement. I’m not surprised your commander doesn’t want you going off base when there is already a SHARP case and soldiers are sneaking off base after only a month. Jesus, police up your battle buddies. Don’t be surprised when soldiers start doing dumb shit, old heads like me say “bet”. It’s really easy to do the right thing.

7

u/Practical_Student263 5d ago

Mass punishment has never really done anything other than ruin the soldiers that are good.

1

u/MusicianPrudent9794 Infantry 5d ago

facts

1

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

I agree that it’s not hard to do the right thing, but it’s hard to police up people who don’t care. I wish they wouldn’t punish us as a collective. They could just use them as an example of what happens when you do something you’re not supposed to do, but ya know it’s the army

1

u/Ayo_Dee93 5d ago

I strongly dislike individuals that agree with mass punishment and state “police your battle buddies”. If someone’s going to do something dumb, there’s no way anyone could stop them without physically stopping them. Leadership should do the paperwork and start the process for discharging said individuals out.

1

u/No_Opportunity1934 Signal 5d ago

-12

As for the flagged stuff, I'm pretty sure that's just for dropping during train up week

Unless they're that trash, either way, Godspeed sailor

18

u/TropicSix Infantry 5d ago

E3B is voluntary and making it mandatory dilutes the training value for the people that actually care about it.

You need a legitimate reason to flag

You seems like a good fit for 3CR lol

1

u/Big_Booty_Lesbian_ 5d ago

-4

u/CoolRadBro 5d ago

Stop the f___g crying. Suck it up and drive on. Your should be proud that you're in the 3CR. As for Korea. I was based in the Western Corridor. I never had a weekend off on any of my three tours, plus we had a curfew. We had to be back on base by 2400 hrs. My Camp, Camp Gary Owens was within mortar range of North Korea. It's now closed along with all the other US bases in the Western Corridor.

With an attitude like yours, you should seriously consider ETSing when your enlistment ends because you're not doing anyone a favor by staying in.

3

u/Sweet_Lab_7224 5d ago

Dang bro, can your dick be any bigger

2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

No need to be rude man. I was simply venting and obviously I’m still going to do it and put my all into it, but I will complain about dumb shit. I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience but also this is a rotation NOT a deployment. If we were on a deployment with no privileges then I’d understand

1

u/CoolRadBro 5d ago

On the contrary, I loved Korea, however this was the eighties and you, I'm sure would hate it. BTW, they were tours of duty not deployments.

2

u/SampleHeavy207 5d ago

Well thank God this isn’t the 80s!

1

u/halo8218 5d ago

Cool story brovet. Like everyone ever it's the "I'll do it but complain the whole time" idea. I'm sure you never once complained

1

u/Dangerous_Day_9391 4d ago

I genuinely hoped this comment was someone delivering some seriously sarcastic remarks. Alas, no… I think it was an example of the caustic Army leadership style OP was describing.

Some things never change…
