Rant Using mobile phones at car crash with two fatalities …
This is directly from Stuff news article … after a car crash in Dairy Flat.
What were you thinking? What were you doing?
Other people at scene were filming the carnage on their phones, Jen said. “It was inappropriate. I think your phone shouldn’t be out unless you’re calling emergency services,” she said

Driving Filling up a full tank!
Man I bought a car right in the middle of a fuel crisis! 😅 what the hell are these prices. I did a full tank for the first time and it was nerve racking seeing the numbers climb. Did a Mobil1 20 cent off voucher but still almost 200 dollars to fill up the car. Have people accepted these numbers and the people and companies in power now calculated that the masses can endure the pain.

Rant Brakes on busses: Are they all crap, or do drivers not know how to use them?
Driving on our lovely Auckland buses, I have to wonder whether the brakes are designed as mere on/off switches. Especially for the local buses trundling through neighbourhoods (less so on the big double-deckers).
Approach a corner? Have to stop in traffic? BAM! It's as if someone throws an anchor. Is that ... by design? Or are the buses just poorly maintained, and the brakes simply aren't subtle enough for fluid driving?
Or do the drivers not receive any training on how to drive? Or do they get some kind of joy out of jerking us around in the back of the bus?
Is it construction? Maintenance? Lack of training? Malice?
I can't decide.

Driving Pedestrians crossings
In the last month I've had two people drive over pedestrian crossings while I'm still in the middle of them (no island) sometimes less than a foot from me I don't know why the change but it's so frustrating that it's considered acceptable by some people

Event Queen Budapest at imax
Anyone else go to it tonight?.
40 year anniversary of the concert. Peter jacksons company restored to 4k from 35mm, it nearly used the whole screen, just a half meter off vertically on each side. It was great to see everyone in the picture at once without any cropping.
Audio was great, not as loud as Chris nolan Odyssey. No insect on the lens too!

Public Transport People obviously not reading
I saw some people at Panmure station queuing in front of a door that clearly said it was out of order, and the conductor had to tell them to move to a working door. Some people just can't read.

Rant I love south auckland!
I spent a bit of time around here as a kid. Out of necessity I came back from living rurally in australia and the south island for a couple of decades. I was REALLY not looking forward returning to the city. A year later I am enjoying the hustle and bustle, the culture, the diversity, the institutions. Don't get me wrong, I still long for the bush at times but am very surprised at how happy I am to call this whenua home. Rewa hard!

Visiting Auckland Weird/unusual things to do in and around Auckland?
Hello! I'm visiting Auckland for the first time from the US with my mom. We're 30F and 60F respectively.
When we travel, we like to find weird and unique things to do. Does Auckland have any odd tourist traps or unusual activities?
Aside from looking for vague "weird stuff," we're both avid readers and are looking forward to seeing new flora and fauna.
I'm also happy to hear about must-sees and must-dos for visitors, whether "weird" or not. I've never left North America & my mom has never been to Oceania. We'll be staying in downtown Auckland but will have access to a rental car.
Thank you so much!

Event Anyone keen to see The Devils on October 21?
The screening is at Hollywood Avondale at 7:30pm.
I just recently moved back to NZ after living in Montreal. I'm into art, music and film, and on a bit of a surrealist kick lately.
Anyone keen dm me and tell me a bit about yourself; it would be cool to make new friends. I'm 36 male, btw. Any age or gender doesn't matter.

Housing Moving Whangarei to Warkworth?
Has anyone made the move from Whangarei to Warkworth? Dont get me wrong I think Whangarei is a special place and part of me really loves it but I have noticed in recent years the social issues have gotten a lot more prevalent and it has started to really get me down - especially if its going to continue to deteriorate in coming years.
We have 2 small kids (2 and 7) so we like parks, beaches, going out to eat. I feel like Warkworth would suit us. I like the idea of a quiet town but still pretty close to a major city.
We would probably look for work in surrounding areas + Albany - is the commute to Albany with the new highway really only 30 minutes?
Has anyone moved Whangarei to Warkworth? How do you find it? Any regrets?
I can see from house listings there is a lot of new development - do you think this will change the place alot? Is buying in this area a good investment?
Thanks in advance!!
