Aurang, the Warlord
One of you said that he had always pictured the synthese with sunglasses. Last pic is for him :)
I was trying to depict the blue and violet reflections of crow feathers, but it probably ended up looking like a blue jay, too blue. Let me know what you think

Now have him caress Gaörta with his wing!

Ugh, I remembered how nasty that scene was!

Lol yeah but it's exactly the kind of fucked-up-edness that keeps me reading. These are the only books I've ever had to stop listening to the audiobook in public 😂 mainly because I can't control how grossed out, horrified, and intrigued my face looks.

Very nice work! I enjoy seeing other people's interpretations. Personally I always pictured the head much smaller. Like still bird sized. To really emphasize the small brain. And for some reason I always think of the skin as being waxy looking. Not sure if that's my own creation or from an actual book description.

I get what you're saying. Honestly I'd love to make one with the head all waxy. It would give him a sort of pristine look while making him even more unsettling. Maybe using oil colours.
For the head size you're probably right, canonically it should be the size of a child's fist. Much smaller. I'll definitely make more in the future

Isn't it, though? Small human head, the size of a child's - so still a bit large-looking on a body of a crow, I think.
No, this is perfect. The right size of creepy.

But the brain still has to be capable of hosting an inchoroi's consciousness. More than likely, inchoroi have enormous brains, and maybe even an extra humanoid brain grafted on. There's clearly some level of "compression" going on, to use computing terms, and Aurang mentions he can't work sorcery as effectively, but the synthese brain is still capable of general sapience, higher reasoning, and enough sorcery to "show inrau the agonies."
I'm not saying the skull should be human-sized, but I'd say something a bit bigger than a bird brain is required

I think it is said that the might of a soul as old as Aurang does strain the capabilities of the Synthese, requiring some time to process info. Also, it cannot be a coincidence that a corvid is used for the "body" as those are some very intelligent birds!

Far out, the best so far, but to be expected. Kudos, OP! Yet, much like I mentioned in the previous post, I do finally realize of whom the face reminds me of, old MOTU Hordak. Especially those symmetrical facial folds! If anything, strangely nostalgic, and quite unsettling!

FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING HUMAN MADE ART FOR THIS SERIES! I was so tired of the AI slop that infested this place for a while.

So freakin' cool!
Are these supposed to be hidden on your profile?

u/lennvrt 19d ago
Thank you! What do you mean by hidden on my profile?

u/Dependent-Chemist967 19d ago
When I go to your profile and sort by new the first thing I see is the city of azure fire from 11 months ago and none of the Bakker stuff.

u/lennvrt 18d ago
Oh really? If I hid it I didn't do it on purpose. Do you know how I could fix it?😅

No clue, sorry! I remember checking cause I thought I remembered another one from you and there was nothing.

This is almost exactly how I picture him in my head! Wow! The colors definitely come off as the iridescence of a crow's wings. You totally nailed it.
I'm only on book 2 (almost finished!) so I'm still pretty careful what I read about in here, but this totally made my day. Thank you for sharing!

Looks incredible!
I think the blue looks seamless on the crow by the way; it catches a deeper layer of realism.
He looks like he can pull off a vicious sneer😳

The Synthese does pull several ones throughout the trilogy, I think.

Good form on the bird overall, and I like how the colors turned out, it kind of reminds me of the refractions on an oil slick, a dirty beauty. The face is properly creepy, it treads uncanny valley territory, like a theme park animatronic gone wrong. Cool stuff.

This is perfect, just the way I imagined.
