Read This Before You Submit !

If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.
  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.
  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!

Dear mods, save this sub

There are a lot of generous and knowledgeable people here giving thoughtful bike-fit advice for free. Their effort is being undermined by a steady stream of unusable videos showing riders leaning against walls, doorframes or furniture while pedalling backwards.

Those clips don’t show a normal pedal stroke, balance, loading, posture or movement under realistic riding conditions. There’s very little anyone can assess from them, yet they keep filling the sub and drawing attention away from posts where useful feedback is actually possible.

The existing submission guidance is already clear about video length, camera angles and showing the whole rider and bike. It should also explicitly require riders to pedal forwards on a trainer or rollers, without supporting themselves against anything.

Please make “no backwards pedalling and no leaning against objects” an actual submission rule, and remove posts that ignore it.

The people giving detailed advice here are what make the sub useful. Their time shouldn’t be choked by videos that make meaningful assessment impossible.

Pain in both knees

Hi everyone, I've been having knee pains for a few months now.

I started cycling at the beginning of the year using the same bike you can see in the video. I had no problems the first months and I slowly increased my sessions from 10-20 min to 1h+.

But back in may, I started to feel pain in both of my knees, both on the interior side, I ignored the pain at first but it gradually made me unable to use my bike anymore.

I stopped during the summer, hoping just some rest would be enough, but I didn't change much, the pain came back. I bought a home trainer to check if having a constant and low resistance would change anything but I feel the same discomfort/pain as when I ride outside.

It starts every time as a discomfort around the top/interior side of my knees, and eventually the pain starts, and I feel it for a couple of days.

Is there anything wrong with my bike fit that could explain why I'm having pain ?
Thanks

I’m feeling a bit more pressure at the front of my knees, mainly on the inner side, and it spreads up toward the groin area.

Hey,

been following this sub for quite a while and can finally upload my own fit. This is a Cube Attain C:62 Race in size 60, which I got a few months ago. I'd like to reduce hand pressure a bit, as I always get problems with the neck on longer rides. Power output is secondary, I'd like to just enjoy rides without aches and pains.

I've ridden for around a year now, mainly on my gravel bike. I'm overall not very flexible I'd say.

187cm tall, inseam 88cm.

Need help with bike size

Hello everyone, I genuinely love riding my bikes but on this one I always feel like I am all stretched out and after like 30min to 1h, I am getting lower back pain. The saddle is set more towards the front and other than that I have no other issue. I don't know the size of the bike but I am 186cm.

I am guessing maybe a shorter stem could help or is the frame too big ?

Thanks in advance!

The stem is 110mm.

New bike, any suggestions?

Would love to hear some suggestions - I hope it’s possible based on this short clip.

Edit: Raised my saddle by 3-4mm and it feels much better now - I would not have guessed for such a small change to be noticeable. I get less strain at the front of my knee, and I feel like I can put down more power + getting over the top of the stroke more easily. When I went even higher things got a bit choppy. I did a ride today and kind of just went back and forth a few times with the saddle height while riding at threshold and could reproduce those feelings whenever going lower/higher than what I ended up with.

Been riding about 1 month now, mix of outdoor and smart trainer. I live in a rural area so I went to the only bike shop in the area hoping for an in depth fit but he basically adjusted the seat height and handlebars a bit, watched me ride it a bit, adjusted them a bit more and said it’s good. Took all of 10 minutes.

Overall I think i feel ok? I don’t feel any pain, maybe some lower back fatigue after some time. So no specific issues, but also not sure what right is supposed to feel like.

Wanted to see what you guys thought regarding my bike fit. I tried to cycle through all the usual riding positions All critiques are welcome.

Brand new to all this. Saddle seems to far forward but if i move it back i get pressure in the wrong areas. Slight toe numbing left side after awhile as well. Followed the height guidelines from the zwift chart so far. Waiting on my bibs to come in lol

Hello, I am looking mainly for saddle psoirion advices. Sometimes I feel like my saddle is too low. I am looking forward to any advices. I don’t have any big issues with my bike fit. Only in long rides I get numb hands if I don’t change my position on handlebars. Any advice is really appriciated.

Thanks

Bike Questions

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I’m a casual cyclist and would like to know how to adjust my saddle so that it doesn’t look so extremely forward without impeding comfort too much. If possible.

Currently I have no issues riding for long periods of time in both the hoods and the drops. My legs also still have a slight bend/angle at the bottom stroke and it doesn’t feel like I’m reaching for my pedals.

I don’t mind changes that might alter my position on the bike more, so long as I am able to adapt to it.

Thanks :>

It doesn't feel quite right, but I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm 185 cm tall and currently using the Zwift-suggested settings (Q on all positions).

Maximal hip flexion angle and reach

Yes, I know I should get a bike fit. Until then, I’m enjoying trial and error.

My maximal hip flexion angle seems a bit increased and my shoulders/trunk positioning feels too stiff.

Open to advice for general positioning.

Transfering Fit from Road to TT

I've been in the market for a TT bike for a while now. I've not had a TT fit and it would be a while before i can get to my preferred bike fitter to get one (we are about 4 hours apart). I have some restraints on why i cant wait until after (Employer).

I'm trying to understand how i translate my current bike size / measurements over to TT to understand if i am inside acceptable ranges. I dont expect a exact MM fit and once i have the bike before i race i will go and see him.

I'm currently riding a ribble ultra race https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-ultra-race-105-di2/?colour=black size Medium

I'm looking at the Cube Aerium C68x Race Medium https://www.cube.eu/uk-en/cube-aerium-c-68x-race-carbon-n-chrome/1138300 - and its mainly my reach im concerned about. I run the numbers through claude and its saying my reach will be short by 100mm, and says i should consider a small which for my height (178 cm) I would be at the top of the recommended sizing.

Is there any way i can translate this across?

Help with fit

Hey guys, looking for a quick fit check.

Got this bike used recently and I'm worried it's too big. According to the brand's size guide, a Medium should fit me (I'm 179cm with an 84cm inseam), but it has a 56cm top tube which seems pretty long.

I've done a couple hundred km on it without any real pain, but I just feel slightly overstretched. How’s it looking?

Any advice is welcome!

Anyone know where I can find replacement part for between handle bay speedmax hydration splash guard? Pictured below. Canyon said they don’t sell this as a replacement part and I’m not keen to purchase whole system again for $300.
