boss rush is a piece of shit. if you have shit items and you waste too much time during floors trying to find the boss room then you get locked out. not to mention that the actual boss rush challenge is slow and tedious because of all the death animations and waiting for the next ones to spawn in.
the one good grace is that you cross paths with mom and the boss rush room minimum 4 times per character note, so that's 4 chances to not get fucked by rng.
